An excellent breakfast, muesli with fresh fruit followed by nicely cooked scrambled eggs on toast with mushrooms and crispy bacon, cooked by our host on the spot. She herself was very engaging and gave us very useful advice about local features. The room was very private but there is an adjacent comfortable lounge with fridge. The Lodge is surrounded by fruit trees (including figs) and wonderful bird life. There are even alpacas. My wife and I enjoyed the peace and quiet of the Lodge. The host generously gifted us a bag of figs as we left, knowing how much we liked the fruit.

Very clean and spacious room. A very peaceful place. Breakfast was fantastic and our host Renee was great. The guest wing lounge was very comfortable with some yummy chocolate and excellent tea/coffee selection.

Our expectation (based on 'summit' being part of the property's name and the road it is on) was we would have a view of the valley from an elevated location. This is not the case as the lodge is located near the bottom of the hill. We also found the bed hard and uncomfortable, but we do understand a firm bed might be to some peoples liking.

Rene was an amazing host. Breakfast in the morning was delicious and made with local ingredients. It is close to the main wine district (how we came across the property) but is worth just staying there. The property is serene with farm animals, groves, beautiful landscaping, and bird song. The room was large and comfortable with a private bath and patio. The place was also stylish and well decorated. We would love to stay here again the next time we visit NZ and would definitely recommend to friends and family if they plan a future trip there as well.

Lovely place in the countryside for anyone who needs a break from the hectic life of the city. The position is strategic to reach more touristic destinations such as Masterton, Martinborough and Castlepoint. The host has been really kind and available, providing information on the surrounding area. Me and my partner appreciated the provided breakfast, which included some fruits locally grown at the Lodge.

Had a lovely stay with Renee and hubby at The Summit Lodge. The weather was fantastic, very hot and Renee ensured the communal space air-con was on which was a plus for me. Also I got my wires crossed in terms of bedding but Renee arose to last minute changes and it was no problem to ensure our needs were catered to.

We loved our stay at Summit Lodge. It was only one night - I think 2 or 3 nights would be great if you were really exploring the Wairarapa. Hosts Nigel and Sandie were friendly and helpful, with the right blend of privacy too. As the only guests, we had the guest wing to ourselves, which has a generous sized and comfortable lounge. Sandie had brownies on offer and we could make tea and coffee. The rooms are tastefully furnished and I appreciated the choice of different thickness pillows. We had a nice dinner at the local pub (delicious pork belly), which is 2 minutes away. Nigel gave us a ride there and the pub kindly returned us. Great breakfast and lovely grounds!

Hospitable and charming owners, well located to explore area. Bedroom and guest lounge beautifully appointed. Extensive gardens, including alpacas.

Difficult to think of anything. Duvet was a bit heavy.

Nothing could be better.

We really loved our weekend stay at The Summit Lodge. The bedroom was beautifully comfortable with a lovely leafy outlook. The shared living room was well set up with coffee, tea and home baking. Sandie and Nigel were terrific hosts and we enjoyed eating breakfast while we chatted to them. Sandie cooked dinner for us on our first night and the meal was delicious. They drove us to the nearby Gladstone pub the next evening, and the pub drove us home after the meal. We were able to charge our ev overnight in their garage which was helpful. We highly recommend staying here, a lovely peaceful spot with lots to do in the area- and alpacas to feed!

We were not hungry but what we had was good. A lovely comfortable stay over accommodation.
