We stayed at Somerset Palace Hotel when we first arrived in Seoul and loved it. It was so convenient, comfortable and spacious. The location was perfect for us - walk to key historical cultural sites, pedestrian streets and local open-air and restaurant eating, and even access trekking nearby hills surrounding Gyeongbokgung Palace. Good access too for transit to the airport with the 6011airport bus drop off and pick up (opposite sides of the street, obviously) a couple of 100 meters away, and the ease of Seoul intercity transfers using Naver maps and Seoul buses or trains to other Seoul tourism and cultural highlights. When we returned after two weeks travelling some of South Korea, coming back to Somerset Palace Hotel felt a bit like coming home. Being so well positioned we knew where we were and how to get around, but it was more than that. The spacious accommodation that included a lounge area and equipped kitchenette, a comfy bed aided by heating / cooling options and a window that opened, and a window view, plus the hotel facilities like the swimming pool, spas and garden area on the rooftop, gym, and the breakfast.

I'm fussy, this exceeded my expectations for the price point. I would stay here again.

The concierge was very friendly and professional. Ms Kris Park and Ms Annie Lee in particular. The bell-boy was also very helpful and prompt. The room air con was strong and washing machine was great. Breakfast was good.

Nothing

This hotel was perfect for my son and I during out 5 day stay in Seoul. It had a mini kitchen with items needed for cooking and settings for 2. There was even a washing machine, we travel lights so this is something I was happy about. The room was large and quiet. The staff at the front desk were very friendly and even called us a cab one morning as our ap was not working to request one.

Although there was breakfast included without reservation (which I appreciate so much), there was no variety. I also feel like it was not as fresh as desired. The juices were labels to make you think it was fresh juice, but when refilling it they opened a bottle of orange juice from the store and poured it in. Like I said, I appreciate the breakfast and the work they put into it, I just wish there were more options and variety each day.

Room clean and comfortable. Staff lovely and very helpful, breakfast each morning was good and staff friendly and happy to chat. Location was great, walking distance to the two palaces where we spent our first day. Taxis were great to travel around Seoul. It was so helpful to have a washer drier in the room, we were able to do our laundry before moving on. Hotel also had a small convenience store which we used several times and a restaurant, I have been to Italy before but this restaurant made the best lasagne I have ever had yum!

The bed unfortunately. Very hard and difficult to sleep in, subsequent hotel in Japan was same, hard.

We had an Executive One-Bedroom Suite that had plenty of room with a living space separate from the bedroom. The kitchen facilities weren't used but it did contain basic equipment to provide for limited meal choices (maybe breakfast and lunch but wouldn't try for dinner). Room was cleaned regularly (although they didn't do our room on the Sunday we were there). Location is great (especially for two palaces you have to see). Subway station about 5 minutes walk away.

Would have been nice to have a bar with a view towards the palaces.

Excellent location, delicious breakfast, very nice and friendly staff. The hotel left an incredibly pleasant impression. Very cozy and beautiful courtyard. The view from the roof of the hotel is magnificent. And the roof itself is like a small palace. Everything is very well thought out, the room is incredibly comfortable in which there is absolutely everything for a pleasant stay. Thanks to the whole team!

I liked everything!

Good location Good sized room, with lounge area, seating, dining area and kitchenette. Lovely roof top terrace, great views, swimming pool and jacuzzis Every amenity for a traveller. Great to have your own washing machine, microwave, fridge, hot plate.

Not much we did not like Maybe a little bit worn in places.

Had a subpar experience 9 months ago and was glad to find that the hotel had made some improvements to make my current stay a more pleasant one. The service of the staff was superb and very friendly. Their English proficiency was excellent as well. The toilet was finally fitted with a bidet and room was very clean.

Was never in favour of their bathroom taps (one knob for hot water and another knob for cold water). It was very difficult to moderate the water temperature. Similarly, the bathtub is rather high to climb into. It would’ve been great if there are room options with standing shower bays instead to make it safer for elderly.

the staff were friendly and accommodating. pretty centralised location and was within walking distance to 2 subway lines. the small indoor kids playground was sufficient to keep my kid entertained.

the washer/dryer was old and weak. the door of the washer was threatening to fall off. I had to do 3 rounds of drying mode before my clothes were fully dry. room was quite old and dated.

The location of the hotel was amazing. It was right across the road from the main palace which meant it was just a quick walk down the road. The room was setup like a studio apartment and having access to a washer/dryer was really convenient. There was a convenient store and coffee shop just outside which made grabbing snacks quick and easy. The breakfast was nice.

The beds were a bit hard. The elevators were also really slow which was a bit strange.
