Place is a smaller hotel compared to other brands. Very rustic, earthen type of decor. If you’re looking for contemporary, this is not it. A lot of Cambodian art and figurines decorating the place. It almost feels like Babylon with plenty of greenery. Pisey remembered my name before I checked in and greeted me when I arrived. Grand Palace is right next door, plenty of bars and restaurants nearby. Room was clean, essential amenities provided. And room was spacious as well. Swimming pool is saltwater pool. Refreshing. Spa had great services. Gym was pretty decent. Not fantastic but it could keep a gym rat busy. Breakfast was excellent. Huge variety to pick from. Continental, khmer cuisine. You had pastries, live stations.

I was given a balcony room since I smoke. Balcony didn’t have a view though. It was close to the skybar so in the evening I could see guests at the bar. That was a lil odd to me. I think there are rooms with a pool view. I did think the spa was a lil bit pricey. I’m comparing it to prices outside the hotel. But you get quality, i can’t speak for the ones outside.

Everything about this hotel was exceptional. "Q" at the front desk was very helpful from check-in to check-out. All the staff were amazing, though. The beds were so comfortable I didn't want to get up in the morning, but of course, there is so much to see in Phnom Penh, you have to. The hotel's layout is wonderful, with private little courtyards and places to sit. The gardens give it a peaceful, oasis-like feeling. The pool area is fantastic. Not only is it a huge pool and very clean, but there are separate cabanas with their own steps into the pool. The pool bar will serve you anything from lattes to cold Tiger Beer. It was heavenly! We both had massages at the Senses Spa, and they were the best ones I've had on this trip. ( Been 4 months in SE Asia now, so I've had a few) The Sky Bar overlooks the Royal Palace and is a great place for Happy Hour. Outside the hotel, there are a few tuk-tuks that the Palace Gate authorizes. We were lucky to get Robert, #9.and used him whenever we needed a Tuk-Tuk. Not only was he a careful driver, but he was also able to find us things that we had been looking for and make suggestions for us. I would go back to Phnom Penh just to stay at this hotel again. It really was wonderful!

That my trip ended:)

This is a wonderful hotel. We have been traveling around Asia for 3 weeks and this has been my favourite. Lovely pool with cocktail hour, making a very strong cosmo £2.80!. The outside breakfast area was lovely. Staff were all lovely. The hotel was well position being near to the Royal Palace.

My only gripe, and this is very small, when we arrived at 11pm ish the room's air conditioning had not been activated, and being May it was very hot. Eventually the room did cool, but I would expect that perhaps the aircon could have been activated a couple of hours before our arrival, especially as we were going straight to bed.

This hotel is nothing short of outstanding — from its prime location to the impeccable service, refined cuisine, and beautifully curated rooms, not a single detail is overlooked. It offers true luxury, yet without a hint of pretension. Each room is uniquely decorated with authentic Khmer art, adding a deep sense of culture and celebrating Cambodian art. We stayed in a river-facing deluxe room, which was incredibly spacious and elegant— absolutely stunning in every way even to the small detail of been able to chose a special pillow to your liking. The poolside experience was another highlight. Their happy hour and poolside menu are surprisingly affordable for a five-star property, and everything from service to presentation reflects thoughtful attention to detail. Breakfast is equally impressive — catering to every taste with homemade jams, delicately sliced fruits, and a wide selection of dishes from around the world. They always say that a if a hotel kitchen can get the basics right they are a good hotel. And for me that is been able to do a margarita pizza. We ordered room service and ordered their pizza. I had to laugh that who would have though that in the middle of Cambodia that I would have had one of the best margaritas pizza I have ever had. Authentic, wood fired and perfectly done. And from ordering to the knock on the door…20min. The location is unbeatable. When the hotel describes itself as "the gate to the Royal Palace," they mean it quite literally — step outside the gates, and the palace is directly across the street. Despite being in the heart of the city, the hotel feels like a serene oasis — quiet, calm, and beautifully landscaped. What truly sets this hotel apart, however, is the staff. Their warmth, attentiveness, and genuine hospitality are unforgettable.

Everything was beyond exceptional and perfect

A beautifully decorated five-star property with spacious, well-appointed rooms and excellent amenities. My complimentary upgrade to a large corner room featured a comfortable bed, generous bathroom with hot shower, and a work area. The courteous staff even accommodated a late check-out. Perfectly located near the River Walk, this hidden gem offers exceptional value—I only wish I could have stayed longer.

While the hotel was outstanding overall, morning construction outside made breakfast and in-room relaxation noisy. This was beyond the hotel’s control, but still worth noting.

The staff was wonderful and so very helpful met every request we ask and then went beyond. They have a fantastic restaurant on sight that's servess good western and eastern food. This is my 3rd time visiting Palace gate resort. I feel there is no better place to stay after a multi day flight halfway around the world

Visitors from other countries that come in large numbers without letting the resort know then expect prefered treatment. I feel the staff did I a fantastic job considering a large tour group was being stupid. I can say nothing bad about the staff and resort

Ideal central location, helpful assistance from the front desk staff and concierge, pool was amazing, and the rooftop bar a perfect place to wind down after a busy day exploring the city.

There was a fire in an adjoining room during our stay. No fire alarm went off, nor did the staff notify any guests in the adjoining rooms. We only knew when I opened our door to see what all the corridor conversation was about. I was shocked to see so much smoke with no alarm or sprinklers being activated. Surely we should be been advised and instructed to evacuate until the scene was visited by the fire department and the immediate danger was eliminated. Very poorly handled.

A lovely property located next to the royal palace. Our room overlooked the roof of the palace. The staff on arrival were very attentive we were given an early check in as we had disembarked a Mekong cruise. This was very much appreciated. We had planned to visit the royal palace during the day but the Chinese President was visiting so many of the roads were closed including the palace. Spent a relaxing day by the pool which was enjoyable.. Had a nice dinner in their lovely restaurant and an excellent breakfast the following morning.. Overall this is a great hotel with exceptional staff.

I liked everything about the hotel, I have nothing but praise for the professionalism and curtesy of the staff, I did a lot of research for booking my holiday in Phnom Penh as this was my first visit. I most certainly made the right choice. The room was amazing with a wonderful view of the pool and Royal Palace exactly as advertised. The breakfast was exceptional with choices to suit any palate. The pool was fantastic and maintained to a very high standard, there are too many positives to list. This will not be my last stay at the Palace Gate Hotel and would highly recommend this hotel.

I have no negatives at all.

The location of the hotel is excellent, concerierge staff are excellent, to the extent of helping cross the road, even though we didn't need it, lots of little caring touches, checking out who you might be using for a trip, looking after luggage with care. Most food and beverage staff are good too. The roof top bar and the pool area are well maintained by the grounds staff. We had a great time at the hotel and recieved an upgrade as we had booked well in advance and the rate had almost halved since. We spent little time in the room so didn't maximise the use of the suite. We do wish we could have stayed longer and would return. Breakfast was plentiful and varied - not all staff offer coffee and the one you can pour yourself is the Vietnamese style/chichory flavouring, so ask for coffee. Some guests are very demanding we observed, and there's no need for that kind of attitude and behaviour, but they didn't spoil our stay.

The restuarant host at breakfast is not as welcoming as other staff. She explaned nothing even thoguh I said it was our first breakfast day, did not offer coffee adn didn't explain the egg station was outside - there is more than one entrance to the restauarnt so we hadn't seen it. the second day she told us our breakfast was not included in our rate and wanted to offer us charagble a la carte breakfast. Reception staff are perfuntionary rather than genuine - interested in taking money, but not aking if you had a good stay etc. Our arrival was rushed also.
