Hans, Lucky and their team were really great and helpful. It’s a perfect spot to arrive in Sri Lanka. The hotel and the pool area are nice and very clean, the food is excellent and everybody is really friendly. We also booked the boat tour with them and it was fascinating and well organised. We can really recommend this place and think about staying there again the last days before our flight back. Having stayed at other places now, we realise how important it is that the host can speak proper English and understand what travelling people need - as they do at Ziegler’s cottage!

This was one of our favourite hotels during our three weeks stay in Sri Lanka (we stayed in the beginning of our trip and rebooked it for our last days as well). First if all, the hotel is in a really peaceful location, right at the beach, the rooms are very clean, the pool area very inviting and relaxing, and food from the restaurant always delicious! But what makes this place truly wonderful is the owner and his staff - they are always so welcoming, friendly and exceptionally helpful! Hans even gave us a room for showering after checking out so we could use it before going to the airport. Also, we can really recommend Mohan as a driver if you want to see any parts of Sri Lanka! Thank you all for such a good time!! We will come back for sure :)

The staff were fantastic! This is a family run hotel and everyone was very attentive. Special call out to Hans who runs the hotel and Ushaan our waiter, nothing was too much trouble for them. I’m always wary of inflated tour and spa packages arranged by a hotel but I have to say Hans has got the pricing right, I wouldn’t hesitate to book with him again. The pool was great for kids and adults as it has a shallower section for kids. Then the beach is literally 20m from the pool using a well concealed entrance. While it’s not advisable to swim in the water because of the rocks lining the shore, we loved playing on the beach, watching the local fisherman bring in their daily haul and explore rock pools a bit further up the beach. There are no hawkers whatsoever.

Nothing. Before booking I was aware that daily room cleaning wasn’t really the norm in Sri Lanka but if you ask them then they will do it.

My stay was nothing short of wonderful. Tucked away in a peaceful setting, this charming boutique property offered the perfect blend of comfort, character, and warm hospitality. The rooms were clean and cozy, giving a homely yet refined feel. I especially loved the open-air spaces and the tranquil garden area, perfect for enjoying a morning cup of tea or just unwinding. What truly made the stay memorable was the attentive and friendly staff. They went above and beyond to make sure every need was met, offering local recommendations and even accommodating special dietary preferences with ease. The breakfast was a highlight, fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. I would definitely return and highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

Stunning sea views- easy private access to a beautiful beach. Nice pool in lovely private gardens with lots of shaded areas or sun traps for those that like them. The best food at very reasonable prices we had during our three weeks travel around Sri Lanka. Easy access to airport. A great selection lace to unwind at the beginning or end of your stay. Great price for penthouse Appartments - definitely worth the small extra cost. Family run hotel and very welcoming- couldn't do enough for us.

No Lifts but owner told us they are to be installed next year and along with hot tubs on the roof terrace with panoramic views. Out of town 20 mins tuck tuck to town with restaurants and bars. Although the food and reasonably priced drinks offset this.

I stayed here to relax after the flight to relax before the tour knowing that it is far away from the Negombo town (my second visit to Sri Lanka). The food at the restaurant was not great as others wrote. The portions are small for the price and not the tastiest I ve had in Sri Lanka. The pool area felt small without any aura. It takes 45 minutes to the airport. The next time I’ll be in Negombo beach area again, as there are more options food wise and transportation is more convenient. The pictures and reviews looked promising but not met the expectations. Knowing all these you could still spend a night or two.

Restaurant is not the best in Sri Lanka. Pricy for the quality & size.

Pool is lovely and good to sit around. The beach does not invite swimming as it deposits a black "soot" every day. The hotel as mentioned is out the way but thats part of the appeal, nice and quiet. You are still only 5 minutes from any shops if required. The breakfast was excellent and food in the restaurant was also brilliant. Staff, as we are finding in all Sri Lanka were exceptional and arranged us onward travel to Sigiriya and Tuk Tuks whenever we needed.

The bed wasn't the most comfortable but not uncomfortable. The bathroom is tight and feels like it's from the 70's, not dirty, just old.

- staff members: 10/10, congrats 👏 - the nice pool and pool area - the food (breakfast as well as dinner) - tge ratio Q/P was excellent - the intense and wonderful closeby ocean - the boat trip on the laggon: plenty of birds and animals (even a baby crocodile 🐊)

- hotwater issue -- still, weather was so hot that a warm-cold water was fine. Moreover, this issue was solved on the last day. - bedroom lighting can strongly (and easily improved) by adding two bedside lamps with a warm and low light intensity.

The hotel's personnel was super helpful and kind. We arrived early in the morning with small baby - they let us to check in without extra charge. Kids wanted to eat around 10 pm when kitchen was closed, but the staff made french fries. The pool was amaizing and the beach nearby although not suitible to swim, was great to walk and watch sunset. The rooms were good-sized, beds were comfortable and large. Amaizing seaview and ocean sounds all day long. Squirells and birds, even peacock in the garden Really close to the airport. Staff helped to manage transfers and tuk tuks

One room had great A/C , other- hard to control. Showers and toillets- clean, although need to be renewed. Some ants and mosquitos but it is hard to control, nothing unusual in Sri Lanka Keep in mind that credit card payments charged by 3% (ATM withdrawal around 2.7%)

We spent a short stop over afternoon at this property, rather than staying in the airport. It was perfect for a refreshing shower and dip in the pool. Plus a lovely meal before our late night departure. The staff are friendly and helpful and organised a driver to collect us from the airport and drop us back later on . The food from the restaurant was delicious.

The property is a little further than I expected it to be from the airport, however this wasn’t a problem. The building itself was slightly older in style but quite typical of the Sri Lankan buildings around the area. That Being said it was all clean and neat and tidy.
