Amazing location situated beside the river and away from any roads. The room was perfect and even our dogs were beautifully catered for with their own dog bed and home made biscuit treats waiting their arrival. The staff are incredibly welcoming and made us feel valued. Definitely will be coming back. Loved it!
We were meeting family for dinner, a group of six and thought we would meet in the bar ahead of dinner, but the bar is basically little more than a very narrow space with seats down in a row. A bit of a tight fit. And the dinner menu was not covering all the bases I would have hoped for. A little more variety would have been preferred. But the food the excellent along with perfect service.

The location is very beautiful on the bank of the river Dee. It really was a room with a view . Dinner on both nights was exceptional. We really appreciated the information we were given about the history of the house and its association with the Knights Templar . A Knight in Armour still waits in the Great Hall above and to the right of the ancient fireplace .
Perhaps a little attention to the outside paintwork would help but the hotel is in stunning gardens and the cherry blossom was in bloom . The internal decoration is fresh and of a high standard .

Always very welcoming, the atmosphere’s always warm, friendly and calming. I love the junior suite (Room 112) and try to stay here when possible. The EV car charger was available whenever I needed it although only 1 of the 3 is available for any car, the other 2 are for Tesla
Sometimes can find the menu is rather limited but that’s personal preference. The quality of the food is exceptional though. If I had to be really picky the only thing that I could fault from my trip last week was there was a couple of lipstick marks on a glass in the room.

Location fantastic with lovely views of the river, lots of parking which is essential for us when travelling with a van and trailer. All staff were friendly and helpful, in particular Callum (and another man working the bar whose name we didn’t get). Evening food to a very high standard, I had the lamb and would highly recommend. Drinks reasonably priced and a great selection.
The only qualm would be the breakfast which was average but still more than acceptable for the price paid and would not deter us from staying again.

Beautiful hotel in a stunning setting by the river Dee. A warm welcome greeted us on arrival and we were quickly checked in and made our way to our room, which was gorgeous with amazing views over the river. A couple of quiet drinks by the fire in reception was a lovely chilled way to spend and hour or two in the afternoon, before we changed for dinner. The meal in the brasserie was fantastic, and the staff were attentive but not overbearing. We then retired to the great hall for a nightcap and the staff lit the fire while we took in the surroundings, looking fantastic and amazingly festive. All in all, a lovely, relaxing stay in a beautiful setting, made even better by the warm welcome and clean comfortable room. We'll definitely be back.
Nothing but be aware that the hotel is in a secluded location (That's one of the selling points for us in this instance!) so don't expect many facilities nearby.

Great pet friendly hotel in fantastic location on river Dee, great helpful staff, great food, good well appointed room, this was our 5th visit & we will be back. It is ideal for us with our two small dogs with grounds & access to a short river walk directly from the hotel
Pillows are a bit hard for our liking so we bring our own, window difficult to open wide due to curtain pelmet which may be more of an issue in a hot summer, but these are minor points

The hotel is in an excellent location, close enough to the main A roads for easy travel to tourist attractions such as Balmoral Castle or Glen Garioch Distillery, yet located in a quiet corner away from the hustle and bustle of old Aberdeen. You are guaranteed a peaceful knights sleep. My room was spacious with a touch of country house chic and afforded an excellent view of the river and a golf course beyond. The cooked breakfast was ample and of good quality which will set you up for the day. The evening menu is not expansive but the cooking is well executed. Venison was on the menu as one would expect in Scotland. The staff are young, enthusiastic, eager to help and appear to be well trained.
I had porridge one morning. I found it a bit watery and lumpy - totally out of kilter from the rest of my experience over 3 nights.

It was a very enjoyable experience. The room we stayed in was really wonderful. Spacious and lavish. Beautiful room with lovely views overlooking the river. Comfortable four poster bed. It was one of the best rooms I have ever stayed in at a hotel. So good it even had a name and not a number. Most hotel rooms you pay a lot of money for some pokey, cramped room , however this was a room fit for a Palace or Castle. So spacious and relaxing with silky curtains. Have actually included some photos as it was a hotel and room worthy of taking photos. Normally I would not bother. Did not have a picture of lobby, my wife has though , so added a photo of a painting which I really liked.
Nothing.

Really liked the residents lounge area with the roaring fire.
Asked for sourdough rather than normal toast at breakfast and got it the first morning but was told we weren't allowed that the next morning and could only have it with the vegan option despite saying I was happy to pay more (I look to avoid eating Ultra Processed Food(UFP) such as standard bread as much as I can). With more people avoiding UPF, the hotel may want to review this.

The bedroom was comfortable and had everything we needed. The bathroom was exceptional; the underfloor heating very cosy and the whole room was spotlessly clean. We were really happy with the facilities. The staff were really helpful and friendly with all our questions, and at breakfast each morning we were served promptly and with friendliness. We also had a beautiful view of the river Dee from our window which we loved. We can’t fault the comfort and service at this hotel and feel it was well worth the money.
The only complaint we have is that on the Saturday night after a wedding at the hotel; we were woken up at 1am by a very drunk guest banging loudly on the door of the room next to us for quite a few minutes. I don’t honestly know how the staff could mitigate this but it spoiled the night unfortunately
