San Vito is GORGEOUS and the area near the hotel has some of the most amazing views I've ever seen. Staff was really friendly and helpful with recommendations, and breakfast was probably the best I've had in Italy. Homemade pastries with savory options, a really rare treat. The nearby restaurant, Baita, was amazing with the most wonderful staff.

The hotel is separated from the rest of town by a pretty big hill which can be a bit challenging after a day of activities. It's a bit hard to find spots to eat outside of town so you'll likely end up doing the hill at least once or twice a day ~15 mins straight up. If you have a car it's not an issue though, and the front desk was kind enough to give me a ride when I had luggage!

This was probably my favorite stay in Italy! Hotel Il Cardo is very close to popular sites in the Dolomites and it was a good base for hiking/sightseeing. The women that run the hotel do an outstanding job. They work very long hours. As a guest I didn't feel like I had to worry about anything. They had good suggestions for restaurants in the area. The views are amazing, the beds are comfortable and breakfast was very good. We took advantage of the spa area and it was definitely worth the extra expense!! If I ever get the opportunity to go back to this area I would stay here again

This place is absolutely incredible. The room was a lovely old Italian room with character. We had an incredible view from our balcony. Everything was so clean and kept in such perfect condition. The staff were incredible and went above and beyond for us. The Sauna and spa was amazing after a long day hiking. And then of course the breakfast spread was amazing!! Cannot fault this place.

The location was perfect for us but only because we had a car. If you don't have a car I can imagine it might be a little annoying because it's out of town.

Staff were exceptionally kind and very helpful. We arrived much later than expected and even though the hotel restaurant was closed, they still offered to cook us a meal! Views from our balcony were exceptional. Room was very clean and spacious.

Sound proofing between rooms was not great. We had a couple with a baby next to us and were woken in the night multiple times when we could hear the baby crying.

We stayed here last year and we said that we will definitely come back next year. Well we did it :) We think this will be the place we will go back also next year :) The hotel is very clean. The personnel nice and friendly. There is always a smile greeting you when you come in :) The breakfast simple but delicious. Apart from hotel, we also like the skiing. Not crowded. The snow is great. We had sun and it was hot, but they really take care of ski slopes :) Also the city itself. Great food, great people.

If you are driving, I highly recommend this hotel. It is located halfway up the hill in San Vito, offering lower prices than Cortina d'Ampezzo and a very peaceful environment. The girls at the hotel are very welcoming, making you feel as warm as if you were at home. Additionally, the hotel's dinner is also good and worth a try (you can get a 10% discount if you book dinner in advance with the reception staff).

The outdoor hot tub and sauna were amazing. For 20 € book your own time slot and it was set up for us with robes and Prosecco. Such a treat after a long week hiking! On google maps the accommodation appears to be 15-20 min walk to the main town but it’s about 8 min with a short cut through a ski field trail. Really pretty short walk and the twin sisters running the hotel are very accommodating, happy to pick you up from town with your luggage or after a dinner, dropped us off to the Cortina express bus too. Property does a lovely breakfast, rooms are spacious and clean with great views off the balcony of surrounding mountains. San Vito di Cadore is much quieter than Cortina which I preferred, still with choice for restaurants and shops. Cortina is just 15 min away by bus that runs hourly.

A beautiful hotel with wonderful friendly staff. The rooms were incredibly clean and the bed very comfortable. The hot tub and sauna were an added bonus and at 20 euro each we thought it was a wonderful way to treat ourselves after a big day hiking. The breakfast was lovely and we enjoyed all the wonderful cakes. Highly recommend!

The place is run by a family and it shows. Everyone there is extremely nice and helpful and every interaction was a pleasure. The location on the hill is very convenient for hitting the hiking trails going up and the views are great. The breakfast was plentiful and delicious.

As the hotel's restaurant was closed for the summer it was mandatory to descend to the valley for dinner every night. There were plenty of options within a short drive, though.

The location has a lovely mountain backdrop, & was nice and quiet, being a little uphill from the town centre. Staff were great and very helpful. Hotel Breakfast was good.

There were no glasses or tea/ coffee making appliances within the room.
