As soon as we arrived the staff were welcoming and friendly. They efficiently checked us in and offered us room early if we wanted one as we'd arrived earlier than the check in time. The foyer area was exceptionally clean and was filled with a fresh and welcoming scent from a diffuser. The room was clean and comfortable with a good selection of toiletries and other useful items. We had requested a quiet room and that need was met - the room was air conditioned but also had a large window that could be opened for fresh air. The location of the hotel is ideal - easy access to main attractions and within walking distance of many good restaurants and shops. Breakfast was fresh with a wide range of options available to suit all tastes included gluten free and a range of dairy alternative milks. Such a lovely hotel - I would definitely stay there again.

No Coffee/Tea facilities in hotel rooms and so didn’t understand why they provided a kettle with cups but yet no Tea/Coffee/Milk/Sugar sachets. The bar had no atmosphere with no background music so was very sterile and had very limited beverages and didn’t have sangria which is a traditional drink in Barcelona! Our view from our hotel rooms was poor. We look out to a run down building which made us feel Like we were in some kind of run down area.

The breakfast was worth it, very extensive hot & cold items. The room had a small balcony to open for air circulation. We had a room that was quiet ,located at the back of the hotel. The staff were always welcoming & helpful for restaurants & directions. Don't be put off by the hotel front street construction. The room had everything; a coffee machine,refridgerator & safe with private bath. A 5 minute walk to very good tapas restaurant. You are at a great location, walking to the Ramblas & Gothic quarter churches & Museum for Roman artifacts. The staff will help you with anything, even to loan plug adapters.

Only the one door to exit located at the front. Front desk had hard candy but no apples.

The Hotel is marvelous and the staff is amazing. Gorgeous room, roomy, beautiful high end bathroom, comfortable beds, staff outside ready and waiting to help you luggage etc. The only thing we disliked was beyond their control. We were on the third floor overlooking a busy street with a bus stop nearby; every night there were people out there yelling, screaming, fighting until about 4:00 in the morning. I would definitely stay in the hotel again, but I would ask for a room that wasn’t on the street. The views were great and there were huge windows to look out of, but the noise was too much.

We were very impressed with the hotel, from the moment we arrived the staff were very welcoming and helpful. We arrived early, before the 3pm check-in & one of the two rooms we had booked was ready so we were able to get in early and they informed us that the other room would be ready by 2pm! When I booked the hotel I requested that the two rooms could be next to each other and they said at the time of booking that they would do their best to accommodate-both rooms were next to each other! The rooms were a decent size and clean. We were on the sixth floor and had two balcony areas, one with two chairs and an umbrella-not what we were expecting and would have been great had the weather been warmer! The location was great, a little noisy but that is to be expected when you stay in a city and there are a lot of roadworks at the moment. Would highly recommend.

Some aspects of the room were a little ‘tired’ but not enough to impact our stay or affect our overall rating. For example one of the ‘eyes’ in the curtain was missing; some of the woodwork in the bathroom and grouting was ‘tired’ but this is just being picky!

The location was great with many restaurants, points of interest, farmer’s market, shopping and public transit within easy walking distance (less than 1 mile). The front desk staff was extremely accommodating and welcoming. The room was comfortable and bathroom nice with good towels. The lobby was lovely and there was a cooler in the lobby with fresh lime and mint water that was delicious. The only reason I didn’t give the hotel all 10s is because the mini fridge was dirty when we arrived, but quickly cleaned when I told them, and it would have been nice for the coffee packets to have been replaced after we drank the 2 provided the first morning.

The location was excellent; in the gothic area and a two minute walk from the marina. Glorious sunset

When I emailed the hotel regarding directions for metro upon arriving from San Sebastian the reply was get a taxi. Given there were only a couple of steps involved I thought the answer was entirely unsatisfactory and person was too lazy to provide an answer which would have been two sentences. In saying this, the staff in house, after arriving were extremely helpful and friendly. I would like to add my experience of buying groceries close by was quality substandard. Best store is a 10minute walk adjacent to Placa de Catalunya. Two levels in shopping centre together with traditional Mercats.

Hotel located walking distance to most beautiful places In Gothic Quarter. It was very clean and the bathroom was spacious. Rooms in Europe are generally smaller than in USA so look at the square ft before reserving a room, for 2 ppl was perfect. I always want to have small fridge and kettle in the room and this is in the standard. The staff were very nice and helpful. They make us reservations to great restaurants or booked taxi in seconds! Hotel doors were locked at night for extra safety. Breakfast was SUPERB! Next time I’m in Barcelona I’m staying at Hotel Colonial again!

We couldn’t have been more pleased with the location of the hotel. It was in walking distance of the centre and marina - we didn’t require any taxis the whole time apart from to and fro the airport. The room was clean and comfortable - only downside was that our view was of a wall. But we weren’t overly bothered as we didn’t spend much time in the room, as we were out exploring. The breakfast was fresh and delicious. Great scrambled eggs. Staff were always helpful and greeted us every time we came back and they were extremely helpful at booking our taxi back to the airport. I would definitely recommend this hotel to others.

The only thing we didn’t like was the no view. Everything else was perfect.

The staff at the hotel were a pleasure with every dealing. The room while small was well equiped and the large balcony made up for the lack of room size. The hotel is clean and immaculately maintained. The location in the historic Born district is great to explore on foot and is well serviced with good restaurants, cafes and ateliers plying their trade. This was our second stay at Colonial and I see no reason to find an alternative hotel when I am next in Barcelona.

If I was to be pedantic the breakfast pastries could of been of better quality.
