From getting picked up at Shuzenji station until the ride back, everything was taken care of for us, and we felt like we were pampered throughout the stay. We had an early dinner, choosing the 5:30 service, which meant we could later enjoy the private onsen by moonlight. The other onsen baths are worth a visit, the cave bath was especially beautiful in the morning, with the sun rays piercing through the steam. Wearing the yukata felt really nice, and the sleeve pockets are so practical! Dinner and breakfast were delicious, especially the choice of sake and the rice dishes. We were very pleased by the choice of complimentary treats and drinks in the lounge, and also in the room fridge — soft drinks and mineral water only, but all very nice after a warm onsen bath!

This was an incredible, once in a lifetime, type of experience. We only left once over five days. We ate amazing food, read books in the lounge, used the beautiful baths, and sipped tea That’s all. And it was so wonderful. Fully restorative. The staff is incredible, they took such good care of us. We have already booked our return trip. And we’re bringing family with us next time to share this experience with them! This is a very special place.

Ochiairo is an extraordinary experience from top to bottom. The public and private onsens, delicious kaiseki dining, spectacular rooms, and exceptional hospitality made for an unforgettable getaway.

Truly zero complaints. Non-Japanese speakers should understand communication is a little challenging, we were the only non-Japanese guests during our visit, but exercise patience and respect and flexibility and you’ll be fine.

- You can walk on your feet around the hotel; shoes are not needed. - There are three onsen at the hotel. - The room size was adequate for three adults. - The hotel atmosphere made you feel at home. - The service was fantastic; exceptional customer service was provided. - The massage was fantastic. It’s my second time staying at Ochiairo, and I cannot fault them. Every detail is meticulously planned for you to enjoy the most relaxing and mindful stay. The property itself is stunning and offers many spaces for you to relax and unwind. The food is also incredible and one of the highlights of the whole experience.

I just wish we could have late checkout.

This was possibly the best hotel I’ve ever stayed in. The room was large and had every amenity you would need, the onsen was fantastic, and the food was some of the best I have had in Japan. The service was also amazing from pick up at the station to departure.

Value for money questionably. You get a nice and traditional - yet simple - inn for the price of a high end luxury resort. We had a good stay but it was not worth the money we spent.

This place is a dream. Highly recommend at least for a weekend treat. If i could give it 12 out of 10 i would. The dinner is also (almost) an out-worldly experience for japanese food lovers. Will be back.
