The location is suitable for the peripetetic traveler - walking distance to the historical park and the hiking trails, and there are two nice restaurants adjacent to the property (one with take out beverages and other convenience items and the other featuring hearty vegan/vegetarian fare). There is a new convenience/coffee market and a bread bakery/cafe within a couple of blocks, and the 7/11 is a 15 minute walk into Bolivar. I didn't arrive until after midnight because of train trouble, but that wasn't a problem. The hot breakfast was tasty, and it was different each morning (I stayed two nights).
It wasn't advertised, but having access to ice would have been a plus. But there is a guest refrigerator in the breakfast room.

Great location with some great restaurants and bars located just next door and down the road in Harper's Ferry. The inn is also conveniently located down the road from Charlestown and Shepherdstown with a lot of great historic sites to visit as well as more restaurants to check out. If you're looking to check out a lot of civil war history among some absolutely beautiful views and nature this is a great place to stay while doing it!
Nothing much to really critique. The stay was great. It is a very hands off operation. You don't really see the staff except in the mornings during breakfast so be prepared for that if you're used to more people being around. The building is also old (220+ years) so expect some creaking when you walk around and from the floors above if you're on the first floor.

The room was great. It's the suite on the top floor of a 1700s home. The weather was nearly 100 and their AC setup worked great. It's an old place, so you have to walk up. If you can, walk up. It's worth it! We loved the area. The staff was awesome. Our breakfast chef gave us some history lessons, which were much appreciated. So much to do in the area, too! Fridge, microwave, mini-kitchen. I'll definitely stay there again someday.
You're in an old, old house. the floors creak. Who cares? You have to walk up multiple floors to get there. Bring it on! The bed could have been a little more comfortable.

The breakfast was fantastic!!! Dining room was wonderfully laid out with spacious seating for each suite. The egg, cheese, and tater tot casserole was the perfect portion coupled with the sausage links and English muffin. Fresh fruit cup, OJ, and coffee rounded out this dining experience. The chef/innkeeper, Elizabeth, regaled us with some history of the property, the area, and Civil War as it impacted the region and the property. It truly added to the charm of this inn. The room was large (the reason why was explained in the breakfast story!), the bed was super comfortable, and the bathroom was great. The remaining room appointments were matched the period of the inn. I loved this suite!! Quick adviso - unlike many places today were a flat screen TV is in each room, this inn does not offer that - AND THAT'S PERFECTLY FINE!! There are two common rooms full of books and games so who needs cable!?!?!
It's hard to say what I didn't like as there was so much that I thoroughly enjoyed! While it was outside of the control of the inn, the Internet was down the one night I was there. It had been raining a lot around the time of my visit and conversations with local residents echoed the same issue - the Internet gets wonky when it rains a lot. Check your email later - pick up a good book instead!

Beautiful property that is decorated perfectly for the style of the home. Our room was lovely and the communal spaces had games to place and were very welcoming. There is a bar right behind the property which was cool. The inn keeper was extremely helpful and made an incredible breakfast both days we stayed. They also accommodated my gluten intolerance. When we arrived we had been given two small bottles of fizz as a congratulations for our honeymoon which was lovely and very thoughtful. I would absolutely stay here again in a heartbeat!
Nothing it was wonderful 😁

Megan went beyond what was needed to make our stay comfortable. Making sure we had a breakfast "to-go" on our last morning, as we left early. Gave us the lay of the land, so to speak, with great suggestions where to spend our two days there. Kept in touch with us via text, answering any questions promptly. Delicious breakfast that she served in house.
Didnt realize my knees would rebel so much in all the walking up and down stairs, in the Inn and in town, sightseeing! AC was a little loud, but we got used to it.

Great location- loved being able to walk to get drinks at the venue behind us (The Barn) and having a lovely cafe/winebar literally next door to enjoy brunch and dinner/drinks. We walked to the downtown area to explore, because we were told parking would be tough- it would be a difficult walk for someone with a disability or with mobility issues…straight up and down a hill to the town. The accommodations were very nice- the property has a wonderful historic feel and is clean and has everything you’d need. We enjoyed breakfast at the inn on the second day of our stay and it was really good. Would stay again!
The parking lot for the inn was also used as a lot for the neighboring bar/tavern, so it filled up after 7 or 8pm and it would be difficult to find parking until after 11pm if you decided to drive anywhere or arrived late. During the day (at least during the weekend), the parking lot was also rented out to those who wanted to pay to park and walk to the downtown area (again, meaning you’d lose your spot if you decided to drive anywhere…so we chose the long hike into town). The mattress in our Suite (2) was too firm for our liking, and we ended up with sore backs and restless sleep both nights we were there.

We stayed in suite 3, in the attic, which had a comfortable king-size bed and a good size living and kitchen area with fridge, hot plate and grill and basic cutlery and crockery. We were looked after very well by Megan who made sure we had everything we needed and cooked delicious breakfasts, different each morning. My husband wasn't well during our stay and she was very happy to prepare a breakfast tray so he could eat in our room. Tea, coffee and biscuits were available during the day. Our room was comfortable and had air conditioning (which we needed!) Although the hotel is on the main road, it was quiet and was a 10-15 min walk to the centre of town. Plenty of parking.
The bedroom blind didn't fit well and was torn at the bottom. The grill and hot plate in the kitchen area needed a clean, and crockery and cutlery was a mish-mash of odd bits lying around, rather than 2 of everything.

I love this funky old building and the centuries-old architecture. The Wi-Fi was very good, too. The chef's choice breakfast was delicious both days. The staff had great recommendations for area attractions, and The Barn out back had live music both nights, offering a way to either wind down or party down at the end of a day. There were good dining options within walking distance, and several more if you want to stretch your legs and go into Harper's Ferry proper.
My ceiling fan was noisy. That's it. Just the ceiling fan being a bit noisy. And there weren't like 30 USB ports scattered throughout the room like you'd have in a modern hotel. Those are hardly deal-breakers in an 18th-century home!

The Inn is well located on the main road next to a couple of restaurants, a bakery, and bar with live music on Saturdays. The breakfast served every morning is delicious and homemade. Staff was very friendly and accommodating throughout our stay.
Some of the outlets didn’t work in our suite, but everything else was absolutely perfect and cozy!
