We loved every minute of our five-night stay at this beautiful boutique hotel right opposite the green and wall of Galle Fort. From the moment we arrived (frozen lollipops for the kids — such a delightful touch!) the service was flawless. The staff were unbelievably kind and attentive, offering helpful local tips and even organising a magical evening where we released turtles — a highlight for the whole family. The rooms were spacious, luxurious and immaculately presented — some overlooking the pool, others upstairs — and all felt like a real treat after travelling around Sri Lanka. The beds gave us the best night’s sleep we’d had in the country, and rooms were serviced twice a day which kept everything perfect. Attention to detail was exceptional, from extra cushions to thoughtful little extras that made us feel completely pampered. The pool is a true oasis in the centre of the hotel — a perfect spot to cool off from the heat. Our children loved feeding the friendly monkeys that visited the garden each day. Breakfast was extensive and delicious (the French toast and pancakes were a big hit), and we also had several lunches there — tasty, well-priced and consistent. If you’re visiting Galle Fort and want a beautiful, comfortable stay with outstanding service and family-friendly touches, we can’t recommend this hotel highly enough.

Beautiful property in a great location within the fort

When we arrived they said they served wine and beer. They gave us a wine list of about 30 different wines and all bar one had an unavailable sticker on them. Why bother? I would rather they said they don’t sell drinks. They also don’t have a common bathroom on the property. We had requested a late checkout but as the property was full there was no bathroom for us to use to change clothes for our flight home. If we had known that we would have booked another hotel where this was possible. In the end we had to book another hotel for day use just to shower and change before our flight home.

A beautifully appointed house in a fantastic location in Galle Fort. Staff are friendly and professional. We stayed in an upstairs room facing west over the ramparts the room was very characterful with lots of original features but updated to modern standards. The bathroom was palatial with a large freestanding tub and fantastic rainfall shower. The small pool at the property is a nice place to cool off when you’ve had enough of the Galle heat. Breakfast was beautifully presented and lovely choice of Sri Lankan or Western. We only stayed for a night but wished we would have stayed for longer.

Beautiful pool however it was spoiled by the fact there were only 3 sun loungers, would be nice to have some more added even if using the area outside the pool rooms. It would be nice to have tea and coffee making facilities in the room there was plenty space for this. We only had two towels in the room I would have expected some hand towels for this price range maybe it was just an oversight.

The outstanding villa was matched by the exceptional crew running the hotel. They met all our needs and made us feel absolutely comfortable during our stay at this wonderful property. The team also helped with switch converters because we forgot our adapters at home. We only ate the breakfast and that was exceptional on both days, especially the Sri Lankan curries. Rooms were super spacious and clean. The property was located within walking distance of most key spots in the fort area. Would happily go back to the property.

From the very first moment we entered Taru Villas I knew it was going to be a special stay. The staff were so welcoming and helpful and the whole villa felt like a home and the decor and artwork were fantastic and on point. The location was great with easy access to all the shops and restaurants but away enough to create a calm oasis on the inside.

It would be good if they could put in air con in the bathrooms / toilets. The fan was on constantly but due to the weather being hot & humid it really did not make much of an impact in cooling the bathroom down. However, in the whole scheme of things this was not too unbearable, and it is only an observation, not a complaint. It would be great if they could provide a small fridge in each bedroom to keep the water/drinks chilled.

Absolutely beautiful property, wonderful room, gorgeous gardens - I never wanted to leave! Staff were very kind and hospital and food was delicious. I would absolutely stay here again.

There were three very small things: 1. I requested the Sri Lankan breakfast the night before, as instructed, but this wasn't passed on to the kitchen team, which meant it was not available. Communication between staff could improve in this respect. 2. I had a slight issue with payment after my bankcard was swallowed by an ATM machine. I think a business of this size should be set up to take American Express. 3. As a suggestion, it would be great if the hotel could work with a local provider to offer massages in rooms.

One of the most beautiful hotel rooms I’ve stayed in, spacious, beautifully decorated/furnished, super comfortable bed with buttery soft sheets and squishy pillows. We stayed in the sea view room with bath and It was such a treat to have a hot bath! Shower was also excellent. Breakfast was delicious and huge - little things like having proper strawberry jam and good bread made all the difference - pool small but beautiful, our trip was made even better by a group of monkeys playing in the tree by the pool! The staff at this place are impeccable, super friendly and helpful, little things like putting ceiling fans on by default if we sat down on the sofas made all the difference. If we could have stayed longer we absolutely would have.

Couple of minor things to feedback - The mosquito net was quite dusty where the aircon blows onto it - needs cleaning. Hairdryer missing in our room which was a shame. Aircon was good but it is stuck blowing directly onto the bed which isn’t ideal for us and in the night it started making a super loud high pitched noise which we eventually got to stop - would suggest that aircon unit might need replacing or servicing soon. But none of these things took away from the good stay we had.

Taru Villa in Galle exceeded my expectations! The villa was beautifully designed, with stunning architecture and lush greenery. The staff were friendly and attentive, ensuring a comfortable stay. The location was perfect for exploring Galle's historic fort and enjoying the local culture. Highly recommend for a relaxing and memorable getaway in Sri Lanka!

Absolutely loved my stay. Staff were amazing, the room was lovely, food was good - for breakfast the food was never ending! I got room service quite late at night and it was never too much trouble for staff. I only stayed one night but could have stayed for another couple of nights. Location is amazing - right inside the Fort so I walked around lots & they gave me some nice recommendations for lunch and dinner. Overall, a great experience if you want somewhere clean, friendly and quiet.

Small boutique hotel with only four rooms. Exceptional customer service and absolutely beautiful tranquil rooms. Located within the wonderful Galle Fort, across from the ramparts and the sea. The staff here were the best in Sri Lanka (which is a big call because most of the staff we met were really good) and the breakfast was superb. Would highly recommend staying at this property.
