A solid French hotel, in a small village close to Tours, along the river Loire, famous for its castles. In fact, to our surprise, the hotel was situated literally just behind the "chateau" of the village, a lucky strike ! Comfy beds, warm shower and a welcoming host, able to pour us a cold drink after a warm day on the road.

We arrived a little late (but still on time) for breakfast, and there was very little left to pick from. Staff did not make any moves to replenish bread/croissant basket on buffet. Overall quality of breakfast was absolutely acceptable, but definitely not stellar.

Well positioned with secure parking literally right opposite. Walking distance to the local castle and to the river Cher. Staff very welcoming and friendly. Food was good traditional french cooking. Good bed. A traditional french hotel in the old style.

A few niggles spoilt our stay although overall we enjoyed it. No hot water at 7 a.m. The breakfast is not available until 8 a.m. which is late if you travelling on. The morning staff arrived at five to eight and the breakfast was not fully set out until after 8.15. Our bathroom had a stale smell probably due to damp in the floor.

Breakfast excellent. Staff really friendly. We arrived later than intended and the kitchen had finished but they rustled up some cold cuts, cheese and salad for us. Our bed was huge! Not charged for the doggies! Parking was good, secure and just opposite. And right next to the Chateau de Villandry. We left the car in the hotel car park as it was more in the shade, and less dusty. Even went back to the hotel to use the "facilities" after checkout.

half a litre of bag-in-box red at 14€, albeit Chinon, a bit excessive. I live in France, used to prices and 7-10 € would have been acceptable. Bath towels were small and verging on see-through, they should have been thick and fluffy.

The location is fantastic - right next door to the Chateau Villandry. The check-in was easy and the hosts very friendly. Our bikes were chained overnight in the hotel's rear garden. The hotel's restaurant is excellent and the continental breakfast had everything we needed for a full ay of cycling.

The wifi was a little patchy.

Great location next to the Chateau at Villandry, overlooking the Loire valley. Very nice, helpful staff. Lovely evening meal and breakfast the following day. Ours was a quiet bedroom to rear. Comfortable bed. Secure private parking opposite.

Decor and furnishings a bit tired. No air conditioning (though that didn't trouble us). Very busy area at weekends/school holidays due to visitors going to the Chateau. English not spoken.

Lovely hotel in a very charming village. Our bike was stored safely in a disused restaurant and there were several other bikes stored there, presumably all doing the Loire a Velo

The drinks were slightly expensive, so we stopped at another restaurant for a drink and ended up eating there as well.

Excellent location for visiting the chateau which is literally next door. The room was fairly basic but clean and with everything needed for a one night stay. Free parking is a bonus too. We ate in the restaurant which was really good. Friendly staff and good service. Excellent value.

The location is in a really beautiful area and the hotel is right next to a wonderful chateau. The lady who checked me in, also cleaned the stair carpet, came to the room with a pair of pliers to fix the central heating radiator, changed her uniform and served everyone evening dinner. In the morning the same lady oversaw the breakfast service and then checked out guests! She did all these tasks with a smile and she's absolutely professional in every role. Top marks to that lady! The evening dinner was delicious and good value, nicely presented. Breakfast was fresh with plenty of choice, self service. Plenty of hot water and the bathroom was useable. Free secure parking just opposite was much appreciated too.

Sadly, our room was dilapidated and in need of a full refurbishment. I could tell that the hotel is updating some bedrooms and bathrooms, the workmen were in.

Helpful and friendly staff and a great position. Nice restaurant and free private parking.

A very slippy surface for showering (bath) and no grab rail . No soap in bathroom at washbasin.

Lovely location & pleasant staff. Good food too. Clean rooms, comfortable bed.

Bedrooms dated. Hand basin cracked. Few power sockets. WC separated from bathroom & not provided with a WHB. No tea/coffee making facilities.
