This fun boutique-style hotel is in one of the best (if not the best) neighbourhoods in Calgary. At its doorstep it has; sweeping views of downtown, parks, scenic walks along the river, eclectic shopping, amazing food, and a safe and welcoming environment. On top of this, the staff here are exceptional. At each interaction everyone literally went above and beyond. The concierge provided coffee and a light breakfast for our ridiculously early departure at 4:30am and had a taxi waiting for us. The room cleaners provided amenities that we needed from their own personal cache (it was a small request) that they really had no obligation to. The server at the restaurant/bar was very knowledgeable and excellent at his job. These types of things are not expected, but when they occur, it really changes the vibe when you are travelling. Everything feels ... easy. You relax into your visit. Your memories have a certain tint to them. Bravo.

Maybe a little pricey? But as noted above, if you can afford it, you will appreciate it.

Fantastic location, and not the usual (boring) hotel chain setting.

The breakfast was good, but it could have been presented a bit nicer. For instance, no spoons to eat your boiled eggs. A bit more thought would have been nice for a hotel of this price. I did not like the large number of unusual emails from the hotel (through booking.com). At the end I sent an email questioning the hotel if it did indeed receive my recommendation - I started getting nervous about being a victim of fraud. Unfortunately, I never received a reply. But finally everything worked out.

The room was immaculate and the bed very comfortable. Easily one of the best nights sleep that we've had during our three week trip. Location was perfect, accessibility to great walks and good restaurants. The hotel offered the use of free bikes which was an added bonus and we easily got on to a very safe cycle path alongside the river. All the staff were welcoming and very helpful.

Room and location were great.

— The included breakfast was quite limited - especially given the price paid. Further, the first morning there was no milk for cereal or cream for coffee. — On a related note, one morning the breakfast was quite busy and ran out of breakfast item such as yogurt and coffee and it seemed that the front desk person was also the breakfast attendant -- and perhaps the only staff on site — slowing down the process of getting breakfast items restocked.

The continental breakfast was a cut (or two) above the usual, with delicious freshly baked muffins and light pastries among the high-quality items available each morning. Though there is some street noise from Memorial Drive, it seemed to die way down by 10 pm and sleep was not disturbed. Definitely a wonderful place to stay as a couple, on your own, or with well-behaved children. And the location in the hip Kensington neighborhood just a short walk from Prince Island Park is really convenient.

Everything about this property is so thoughtful with the traveler mind—The helpful front desk staff, luxurious and well appointed rooms, food and bar, facilities, and underground secure parking. The location was great, too, near the park and plenty of restaurant and shopping options. We enjoyed it immensely.

The hotel has a boutique luxury, yet personalized feel. The front desk manager was very friendly and professional. The room and deep bathtub were very nice. It was quiet for a downtown location. The Continental breakfast exceed expectations. Awesome location in the heart of Kensington.

The outside doors and windows in our room need maintenance. The breakfast pastries looked very good, but they were stale. Small issues that did not diminish the experience, but you asked!

Location! Breakfast. Staff.

Bit of snafu in that Booking confirmation was for room with king bed & pullout couch (2 beds). Actual room had no pullout couch. Staff brought in rollaway & worked hard to help accommodate. But bit of a bummer way to begin the stay.

Comfortable spacious rooms. Located in a quiet(er) hipster neighborhood and across the street from the river and its pedestrian walkway. The staff is very friendly and helpful.

Everything was great. The only small issue was that the shower was very slippery and there was no anti-slip mat. However, we never reported our concern to the front desk, so maybe they had something available if we had asked.

Great location, lots of amenities around. Easy access to various walks, parks, and restaurants. Very friendly and helpful staff, even sorted us when we decided to stay another night. Simple, light breakfast available, really nice to sit outside on the terrace in the morning.

From previous reviews, I phoned to ask for a mini fridge prior to check in, and was told it wouldn't be a problem. Unfortunately, when I arrived no fridge was available. The staff were great at storing our perishables, and they provided a fridge as soon as one was available. What I didn't realize, however, is that you have to pay $20/day for parking in the underground lot if not booking directly through the Hotel Arts website.
