The room was very large with very comfortable bed, excellent bathroom and good air con. Very quiet. The beach was great with direct access and hotel sunbeds on the beach. On arrival on the beach, staff brought towels and continuous supply of cold water plus took orders for coffee, snacks etc. Lovely fresh water pool up to the beach side. By early afternoon, the beach was getting too hot for us so we used to move to the second pool which is further back and got some breeze. Very nice gym. The hotel has quite a few boat trips of various types - we did two snorkelling trips which were excellent, including the scenery and clear sea (the sea by the hotel was a bit cloudy with sand when we were there).

Ideally the room would have been closer to the beach but it was fine and was very close to the second (salt water) pool. Not much worthwhile sightseeing available on the island (not the hotel's fault!)

+Very relaxing place, no loud music, just sound of sea and birds. + Very nice type of guests, friendly, focused on relaxation. + Extraordinary staff. Attentive. Always helpful, to the point I was under the impression they could read my mind. I would sit on the beach and think "hmm I would eat something," and a few seconds later, a staff member would stand next to me, asking if I would like to have some fruit:) + We didn't really like lunch menu, but one of the ladies from the staff would treat us like mother treats her daughters and offer something outside the menu, we wanted to try only Thai food and she made sure we could do it, she always recommended us nice Thai soups:) Also other staff members would take our food preferences into consideration. + The room was comfortable, enough space to unpack. + They even provided drinking water to brush the teeth. + The landscape makes you feel very relaxed, a lot of open space, not crowded with guests. Enough sun beds. + Amaizing massages at Spa and very personal approach, I booked a second massage which was designed specifically for my health problem. The massage was truly healing. + Gluten free, home made, bread. + Very nice, long, beach. + Good location to explore the island. + Next to the street with shops, but hotel is not noisy. + Security guards doing their job very well. Always watching if someone from outside is not enetering the property. + We felt very comfortable there and I would happily come back by myself, as it felt very safe and homey.

Just minor improvements can be done, like a list of events given at check-in would be helpful. We missed the Thai dinner buffet as we didn't know that is an option on Wednesdays. Also a daily special for lunch could be nice for those who don't like junk food. We ate some good food but outside the standard fish&chips menu, only because we said we didn't come to Thailand to eat pizza :)

Everything was incredible honestly, the facilities, staff, breakfast, pool, extras and so on. We were welcomed with a bright smile time and time again and being taken care of as we have never had been before. The staff is attentive and helpful, the personal touch upon checking in, communication and throughout the stay made us feel incredbily grateful. Moreover, fun extras such as white nights on fridays, a daily happy hour and bloody marys or bottomless sparkling wine during breakfast, along with the organised activities for which you can sign up were wonderful. Ultimate relaxation, a perfect ending to our vacation in Thailand !

I can't think of anything that was lacking.

This is an exceptional resort. The staff know what you need before you do! The design of the rooms and premises was absolutely stunning. The infinity pool onto the private beach is a highlight, and the overall vibe is very serene. Great buffet breakfast, seafood menu and cocktails too.

The island of Koh Lanta is very quiet and decrepit in parts. It has been hugely impacted by the pandemic as a lot of other resorts and buildings are abandoned or half finished, which was sad to see. Layana itself is incredible but the area is partly a construction zone.

Long story short: I strongly recommend this banger of a resort! I actually visited this place with my family 21 years ago for New Years. Couldn’t forget the amazing atmosphere and excellent service, which brought me back after all these years. A lot has changed in a good way, but the luxurious setting and welcoming service - which really is all that matters - was still going strong. Food was spot on, staff are always bright and friendly, the swimming pool is quiet, great for both having a dip and reading, the room and the facilities are well maintained and the snorkeling excursions are fantastic! A lot of the guests are super sophisticated too so you won’t have to deal with a loud obnoxious crowd. So yes, when in Lanta, choose Layana.

Nothing really! A bit of bugs and lizards here and there but to me that’s a sign that we really are in a nice natural setting away from the hustle and bustle!

The cleanliness of the resort was truly impressive, setting the stage for a perfect getaway. The variety of pools available added an extra layer of enjoyment, ensuring that every moment was one of relaxation and tranquility. The resort exudes an ambiance of serenity that effortlessly captivates its guests. The staff members were not only exceptionally kind but also incredibly attentive, making the entire experience even more delightful. One highlight of my stay was the SPA, which exceeded my expectations. It was a truly rejuvenating and pampering experience that left me feeling completely refreshed. Layana Resort and Spa is a hidden gem that combines impeccable cleanliness, a serene atmosphere, outstanding staff, and an unforgettable spa experience. I can't recommend it enough.

My stay at Layana Resort and Spa was nearly flawless, but there were a couple of minor drawbacks worth mentioning. Firstly, we had dinner at the hotel's restaurant, and unfortunately, it didn't quite meet our expectations. The food was somewhat bland and didn't justify the price tag. Secondly, while the overall comfort was excellent, I did find the bed to be a bit on the hard side, which impacted my sleeping experience. Despite these minor issues, the exceptional cleanliness, peaceful ambiance, attentive staff, and fantastic spa experience more than compensated for these downsides. Layana Resort and Spa still remains a top choice for a relaxing and rejuvenating retreat.

Rooms very spacious and comfy. Staff extremely helpful and thoughtful. Check in experience very nice. Pool is stunning and very relaxing. Good size gym. Overall very quiet and relaxing but not far to the bars/restaurants.

The rooms overall were clean but not amazing (mould in showers, dirty mirrors, we had a dirty towel provided but that did get replaced). Laundry prices are beyond extortionate, charging by the item meant that a normal load of laundry (that cost us £4 to do at a laundrette in the town) would have cost us about £80 at the hotel. TVs in room won’t connect to wifi so no Netflix/etc and the available channel list is small/poor quality.

Everything about this hotel is incredible! The staff go out of their way to make it a memorable experience and by the end of the stay, they felt like friends. The location is incredible, incredible service at all times and reasonably priced. The little touches make this hotel really special (I won’t say as it’s a nice surprise for others). The breakfast was by far one of the best buffet breakfasts we have ever had in Asia. We cannot wait to come back to Layana for another stay in the future.

There is a lot of building worn on site currently, renovating properties. Whilst this does not bother me and we understand it needs to be done, it did cause a lot of noise. We would have liked to have been warned about this before our stay but understand that building work has to happen.

Lovely luxury resort that has a boutique feel to it. Rooms are spacious and beautifully decorated. Housekeeping does an exceptional job. Restaurant and bar by the beach is absolutely beautiful. Service is great. Breakfast selection is very nice. Pool areas could not be nicer, with two separate infinity pool areas. Spa and wellness areas are impeccable and offer a great range of treatments. All in all a very quaint and relaxing destination resort.

Food and beverage prices are on the higher end and food does not always deliver on quality or flavor.

Given it was the end of the season, and many adjacent hotels seemed either closed or very quiet, it was amazing how the Layana stayed fully open and attentive. Excellent, consistent service with so many lovely small details. The room was immaculate, meals were great, the poolside service exceptional (free water kept coming, additional free treats, smiles everywhere), all very professional. We didn't go on any of the available tours or excursions, but the beach is kept tidy by locals and it is lovely.

I can't think of anything. Nothing went wrong in the slightest. We wondered whether there couldn't be a shop selling local crafts or quality souvenirs as we only saw one shop on the whole island that wasn't selling very familiar tourist trinkets. That one shop was a designer jewellery/clothes shop in Samadan. Perhaps the hotel could invite her and other locals to sell better quality products in a small hotel shop?
