It is a traditional pub with great staff who gave us a warm welcome. Nothing fancy but good decor and friendly people. Clearly a part of the local community with many locals in the bar. Good live music but not rowdy. Very dog friendly Very good breakfast and generally good food well served. We stayed 2 nights and will definitely be back

Only thing with the food is limited vegetarian choice: macaroni cheese, penne pasta, pizza and burger, but the burger wasn't available when we were there for 2 nights. I understand that you have to cater for all diets and choices but many meat eaters also like veggie. How about veggie shepherds pie and lasagne which can be prepared in advance and frozen, or quiche and a salad.

Lovely breakfast cooked to order. Good selection to choose from and served by friendly, helpful staff.

We asked to change our room as I had hurt my knee and wanted to avoid climbing up two flights of stairs to the original room. The staff were very accommodating and the new room was very small , although it had a double bed the room was very small . The view from the window was a back car park .

Breakfast was delicious. Room was lovely and quiet. Staff were helpful and friendly. Food was excellent and well-cooked.

There wasn't a great deal we didn't like. The only issue we encountered was being on the top floor as there were a lot of stairs to carry our luggage up and down. But the room was quiet due to its location.

A very good sized room with a pretty view over a lovely cottage garden. The breakfast was first class with everything you could possibly want. We really like the location of the hotel with some great walks for our dog. Will definitely stay here again!

The only negative was the window in the bedroom was difficult to open any wider.

rooms small and not close to each other. hotel were not expecting children, only towels for one person which the staff easily and quickly rectified, also in my room only single electric socket that was shared with bedside lamp and kettle.

Meals and staff excellent and obliging!

Had to strip the bed after getting into sleep. Mattress cover had obviously been tumble-dried to hot and the overheard plastic bit had dried sharp and were sharply penetrating the bottom sheet. Showed to the lady whom we booked out with , but not much of a response!!

Staff were so friendly and helpful. Room was comfortable and clean. Great nights sleep. Restaurant was lovely, light, relaxed, clean. Food was amazing - we had dinner, and breakfast. Both absolutely fabulous Wish we had booked for longer.

It was a small, comfortable, busy hotel. The staff was minimal. Breakfast was included at a small cost.

The small amount of staff kept us from being able to get some questions answered regarding the room, location, and services.

The staff were pleasant. The rooms were basic but very clean. The choice of breakfast was great and all well cooked. The evening meals were superb.

The beds were very uncomfortable. It felt like they had failed on one side so you were sleeping on an angle and felt you were about to fall off to one side

My single room was very clean and well appointed, and the staff were helpful and friendly. Both dinner in the evening and the breakfast were excellent. Overall good value and I highly recommend the Novar Arms. Also, it was great to find a hotel with some single rooms available.
