The Onsen was absolutely fabulous….followed up with the water fountains and massage chairs. Such a treat. Generous sized room with comfortable bed and windows you can open. The restaurant was very good for breakfast and dinner and the staff absolutely top notch 🥰

The amount of walking in ski boots, carrying skis only to wait around for lengthy periods at bus stops…sometimes for buses that didnt arrive…was exhausting and disappointing and not what we expected. The hotel has a mini bus….it is a shame they don’t offer a shuttle service. The hotel has a really good bar/lounge area over looking the mountain and ski area. It would have been a wonderful thing if they had organised entertainment at happy hour given the hotel was full. This would have encouraged guests to mix and be social after skiing. It was a bit dull in that respect but there are other lively or chilled apres options quite close by. We would just have preferred to spend our time and funds at the hotel.

Wow this hotel was better than expected. The photos don’t do it justice. Our room overlooked the mountains and was very spacious for 4 of us - plenty of room to open our suitcases etc. The beds were so comfortable and heating in the room great. Delightful staff and we loved the buffet brekkie every morning which was delicious and plenty of options. We used the Onsen everyday which was amazing after a day of skiing. They even have a nice lounge area overlooking the mountain which we loved for an afternoon happy hour drink to relax and play cards. Great dry room and lockers for boots and skis. Already looking at booking another stay here.

Nothing. Everything was 10/10

We really enjoyed our stay. The size of the room was good. The beds were very comfortable. The location was great, few minute walk to the nearest chair lift. The view was beautiful. The hotel shuttle was very convenient to get to the bus terminal on our departure. The driver was so kind to help carry our bags to the line. We also really liked to buffet breakfast. All the staff were lovely and helpful. Also the Onsen was really nice. Some people have said the property is dated but I thought it was quite charming.

I love everything about the hotel. It's very clean and comfortable hotel with resonable price. The staff was very helpful and friendly. They helped me to book the restuarants nearby and ask for help from the ski rental shop to come to fix my ski gear at the hotel. Micky San, the owner of the hotel, I guess, was super kind. My nephew had an accident while skiing and didn't feel good at night. Micky San helped to arrange everything, finding the nearest hospital, contacting the ambulance to come to pick up my nephew to the hospital and even talking to the doctor as we couldn't communicate in Japanese. I am extremely grateful to his help. Next time, I will definately stay at Hotel Goryukan again.

We loved our stay here, 2 adults 2 teens. Room was a good size, breakfast pretty good options for a large hotel buffet Western and Japanese. We loved the easy access to Happo One lifts (5 mins walk from the basement or even ski some of it). Easy walk to restaurants in Happo and top of Echoland even in the snow. Lawton’s fairly close. We had no car and found everything we needed pretty much walking distance. G9 Shuttle to Goryu/Ilmori stops right outside with other shuttles close by. The Onsen was excellent, not busy, indoor, outdoor and sauna. Great opening hours. Kids loved the massage chairs. Staff very helpful and friendly. Would definitely choose this hotel again for Hakuba.

Five minute walk to HappoOne ski resort and centrally located to rental shops for all your sporting equipment needs. The Onsen is world class. The Water Bar is exceptional and surprising. The hospitality is world class. The skiing is affordable, convenient and memorable. Hakuba is full of warm smiles and hospitality. The breakfast is pretty good. The bar staff is top notch and accommodating. The front desk is knowledgeable, helpful, cheerful and Amazing!!!! The storage facilities are pretty good and again the experience was worth every yen. As T-1000 said, "I'll Be Back!"

I thought the property would be dated from the pitch but trust me it’s pretty modern and made you feel comfortable and right at home. I love the Japanese style and tweaks to the rooms as well.

Fantastic location just minutes walk to Happo Village and along the snow shuttle stops. Our spacious family room had a magnificent panoramic view of the Happo-One slopes, the futon beds were firm and comfortably arranged. The onsite onsen is always the highlight after a day on the slopes. The combination of outdoor and indoor onsen was a great addition. The breakfast buffet was exceptional, catering to both Asian and western tastes. The staff were extremely professional and friendly in their assistance during our stay. From dinner reservations for a big group (10pax), resort shuttle routing, or luggage forwarding, they made our stay very comfortable.

The queue for the laundry/dryer queue can be quite long with multiple families trying to organise washings. Also given the bulkiness of snow clothing, the washer and dryer are rather small. Thus having to split across multiple machines or longer cycle duration. The drying room for the snow gear can also be quite cramped and and disorganised. Needs better shielding/racking setup, as guests laying their ski boots all over the floor has created multiple tripping hazards.

View was gorgeous. Staff were lovely. Breakfast was great. Onsen was perfect after a day on the slopes. Would recommend this hotel. The only thing that was disappointing was that the hotel shuttle. It no longer does what previous guests had noted, regarding being flexible and even taking you to restaurants, etc. We could not get the shuttle, or taxis, to restaurants any night. With kids, this can be hard if you have to walk in snow/rain. Would definitely stay again, but if they could hire someone to have their shuttle usable even for a few hours over dinner times to town n back, it would be the perfect place to stay. Please note that the hotel shuttle is also limited regarding pickup times from the station,, and needs 24-hour notice to do so.

I had a great experience staying at Hotel Goryukan. First off, the staff are extremely friendly and want to ensure you are comfortable during your stay. The hotel is very clean and well maintained. It is also an easy place to stay - good location within walking distance to the lift at Happo One, as well as bars and restaurants. It's also near many shuttle stops which makes it easy to get to other mountains and different parts of town. There are storage lockers in the basement, a warming room to help dry wet clothes, and washer/dryers for laundry. The onsen is the perfect amenity to have after a long day on the mountain. Overall, I found this hotel to be a very relaxing place to stay.

This hotel has a perfect blend of traditional Japanese and European styles. The rooms are very spacious and clean. The staff is incredibly helpful. There is a free shuttle bus to the JR station and the ski resort, right in front of the hotel. The hot spring water comes from Hakuba, and the food is delicious.

If I had to find a downside, it would be the reception counter operation hours, which are closed from 10 am to 2 pm, and the restaurant area closes very early; 9am for breakfast and 19:30 for dinner. There are no shops or restaurants close by, and you need to walk about 8-10 minutes to find them. Overall, it’s a great experience and worth the price.
