La Casa de Paz was nothing short of a miracle. Centrally located near most of the best restaurants in Belize, a 5 minute walk away from the marine terminal where we arrived, a 0 minute walk away from a beautiful white-sand beach and owned and operated by a local angel and his family, Chefy Paz, the hotel was everything you could want, need and more. The rooms and bathrooms were extremely clean and had very modern and luxurious finishes, the shower had hot water and great water pressure; the beds were very comfortable; the air conditioning worked extremely well; and Chefy was there to assist with every question and concern, and even helped us meet the goals and desires we had for our trip extremely selflessly. He organized a microwave for our room and there was a refrigerator, and he even helped us organize transportation to one of Belize’s most famous beaches, Secret Beach, and made sure we knew to take advantage of how close we are to legendary Belizean establishments, like Elvi’s and Maxie’s. There’s also a terrace on the property with outdoor seating where you can liase and see an amazing view of the ocean. All the staff are extremely polite, kind and warm, and we felt very safe staying here during our trip as two young women in their early 20s. If you’re looking for an affordable place to stay and to support the local economy without sacrificing comfort, cleanliness, safety or being near popular Belize attractions, we 100% recommend staying at La Casa de Paz and we will be returning as soon as possible. Thank you Chefy and Chefy Sr.!

I have no improvements!

The bed is comfortable. Chefy is very well cummuicate before I come and provide all hotel information, restaurant tips and dive shop info for reference. Also arrange coffee machine and microwave for me. Make my stay more convenient. Room size is good. Shower with hot water and good water pressure. Smart TV with Netflix. I enjoy a few movies in my room. AC work perfect. Room i and toilet s very clean. Towel quality is nice.

You will hear ppl talking inside or outside the room. So please behave and be considerate to keep quiet in early morning and evening when you are in and out. As during my stay, 3 black women speak super loud in the room and when they are in and out of the room. Even talking outside the room at 2am. When I look at them, even ask what. what's wrong. Super funny inconsiderate ppl.

Location.

Toilet seat was low. And tissue paper was too hard to wipe.

This property was amazing! We loved everything about it. It’s in the town therefore restaurants, coffee shops, stores and gift shops are right outside. Behind the property is the beach and the water taxi terminal. The room was clean and the AC was wonderful. There was lovely veranda where you can relax. Such a great property and we cannot wait to go back! Chefy was the nicest host and was able to connect us with a golf cart rental place too.

Chefy and the staff were absolutely incredible. I can't say enough when it comes to the fact that they made us feel at home. Everything exceeded our expectations, the location was so central to a ton of attractions, local food spots and a mere 20 steps from the water. The view was beautiful from the balcony. Chefy was so nice. Everyone had a smile on their face, and always spoke to you. We had some great chats with Chefy. I really didn't want to go home. If you're looking for great value for your money, a beautifully clean, bright, open room, and hotel staff that make you feel comfortable like you're at a family member's home, this is the place for you. A little tip for the folks that say this location was "too loud" at night, if you close your bathroom door, you could barely hear a thing. I can't wait for our next visit, and we will most definitely be staying with Chefy again.

There's not one thing I could honestly think of.

We chose this hotel because it is a 2 minute walk to the ferry port and it was right next to the water. It was so convenient to be able to walk everywhere and the staff were all very kind and helpful.

When we arrived the power and water were out but that was not the hotel’s fault, it was country wide. We also did not expect the staff to only be there from 9-5pm but there was a security guard at night which made us feel safer.

Amenities The air conditioning is cold and works well and is reasonably quiet. The refrigerator was convenient. Unlike many places I’ve stayed in Latin America, this property featured both warm and cold water. If you like scalding hot showers you will be disappointed. I suspect that the hot water comes from a black tank on the roof heated by the sun. Another rarity is a properly installed P-trap on the drains, so there’s no sewage smell back-flowing into the room. Location The property is conveniently located near the town center and the dock for the water taxi. There were plenty of restaurants in walking distance, and the beach was around 100m from the hotel’s door. There are also several scuba diving shops within walking distance. I liked this location so much that I extended my one week stay to last for three weeks.

Amenities The wifi was fairly slow. This isn’t an issue with Internet speed in the area generally, since even the restaurant next door has wifi that’s about 5x as fast. My video calls in the room worked, but with occasional lags. Note that there’s no desk or workspace in the room, so if you plan to work from here you’ll need to improvise. Location The hotel is on the Main Street that runs past the clock tower, so there’s a steady stream of traffic from a few hours before sunrise to a few hours after nightfall, and all of the noise that comes with that. There’s a Catholic Church a few buildings over, and they ring the bell periodically throughout the day (notably at 7 AM every day), and it’s about as loud as someone speaking at normal volume in the room.

This place was amazing to stay at! The rooms are small but very cozy and clean. The beds are comfy and the bathrooms are very nice. Also, the owner Chefy is fabulous! So friendly and gets back to your texts/calls instantly if you need anything at all. We heard such great things about him through talking to locals too, he is a wonderful host!

Only downside is that they do not give you any sort of beach towel

Location dowtown is really great. Place very well kept. Good value for money in Ambergris.

Just ton advise: Very noisy at night but not the fault at all of the hotel. Really central located in San Pedro and the town is noisy : live music bars at night, dogs..people getting back from party. If looking for a place to have rest, not stay downtown !

We loved how close it was to so many restaurants, things to do, and the beach. It was clean. Chefy and his team were nice and very communicative. We felt safe. Rooms were of good size and had a large fridge.

It was quite noisy compared to what we expect. The first night, there was a huge party across the street that was very loud until close to midnight. Then, there were dogs barking several nights/mornings. Also, the doors don’t have a soft close aspect, so any time someone slammed the door, it would wake us up. Other than noise, place was great.
