From the moment we arrived we felt extremely welcome The hotel has high standards throughout and everyone looks happy to work there The bedroom was immaculate and the little touches such a pillow spray really set the scene We ate dinner and breakfast and both meals were lovely and served in good time The bar was open till late which was nice after we had come back from our show and the loveliest barmaid even introduced me to a new drink which I can see become my favourite Overall a wonderful stay which I would highly recommend to my family, friends and across my social media platforms

We were upgraded to a Junior suite and, although, it was a bigger room, the bed wasn't as big as we had expected. The bathroom was ok, but nothing special. The whole hotel, although clean, is looking a little tired...I wonder how much it has changed since the 1990s? The breakfast was fine - not much in the way of fresh fruit, but there were several choices of cooked breakfast, which was served to your table. It would have been nice to have a fish option on the menu, given that the hotel is in Hull! The coffee was not very good at all: just instant!!

Booked this hotel as it was close to the theatre we were going to. On arrival we were welcomed with a free upgrade (and sweets)! The hotel is a perfect blend of class and Victorian heritage. It's immaculately clean. The attention to detail, and the consideration for guests, sets this hotel far beyond any of its competitors. Staff are attentive, helpful, and friendly - all seem happy to be there and happy that you are there - really makes a difference. Breakfast was delicious and the service was impeccable. Full marks; highly recommend!

the hotel was charming and was unique in character. staff were friendly and helpful. the room was lovely and clean. we had everything we need from a hotel room. plugs included chargers for mobile phones

we had one of the executive rooms in a basement: it was through a separate entrance a couple of doors down. not great if you want to make use of the main hotel facilities (if there was a back way in, we weren't told about it) . the window (which opened into an internal courtyard) was a modern sash which was closed shut (I like windows to open). fortunately we have the same windows at home and managed to open it (cleaning mode). the room was very long! lots of empty space. I thought it was a shame that there were lots of little bits of plastic: milk cartons in the bedroom, shower gel and bath bits and pieces, pats of butter for breakfast. I know it's for hygiene reasons but would be nice if they could be eliminated.

Friendly welcome at reception. Upgraded to executive room due to a booking error which was nice. Room spacious and all I needed. Large bathroom, comfy bed and some nice touches with things for my dog and a pack of things like ear plugs, mask and stuff to spray on your pillow for a good night's sleep. Not sure it worked. Nice meal on my first evening.

TV for some reason very erratic, wouldn't change channels, then went off for no apparent reason. No big deal. Room not too warm but did have facility to boost heating.

Lovely little hotel and building. Ideal location for the theatre. Clean and was upgraded to one of the suites. Room had iron and ironing board and also a brolly to borrow if needed. Value for money. Staff were hospitable and friendly. Had a fab steak for tea. Was just a lovely little gem in Central Hull. Would definitely use this hotel again. Being really picky -deco a little dated in the bedroom but that is being super picky.

Easy to find ,nice area ,small park opposite parking outside for small fee was convenient Lovely Big room ,Spacious bathroom , Comfortable Queen size bed ,Clean , Quite Location, Lovely Cooked Breakfast Great Tasting Vegetarian option , Help yourself to Cereals ,Toast etc Friendly & Helpful Staff

Only niggle was that there wasn't many milk portions to make tea & coffee ..only 3 were in the room ,& we forgot to ask for more as we went out early evening ,& Some people like myself might struggle with the stairs ,but I didn't check beforehand so that's my fault

The hotel location is a medium walk from Hull centre so fairly easy reach for most attractions. It is opposite the New Theatre on the side of a picturesque green square with complimentary street parking The entrance area is smart, comfortable and welcoming. The room was spacious and well presented, Breakfast good with efficient, friendly service, The restaurant was smart with good food and service,

Could have done with more tea bags and biscuits.

Loved the location - just a 10 minute stroll to the centre of town but on the edge of a lovely quiet square outside the New Theatre. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was served swiftly and was very nice. I had asked for a room with a good amount of desk space for working - I was given a free upgrade on arrival which delivered that, and more. The room was very large and well-equipped - robes, safe, iron etc.

I would always prefer to have a room with a bath, but the shower was very good. Soundproofing was poor - my neighbours were not rowdy at all, but I could hear their conversations on the phone and that made me aware that my own calls must have been audible to them too. The suite I was in was not in the main building, which meant a short walk along the pavement to go for breakfast - not problem unless it is raining...!

Quiet secluded location and a beautiful building away from the weekend noise but whilst also being very quick and easy to walk to the main attractions. Staff are really friendly and helpful and having parking is great.

There isn't anything I didn't like. The standard of decoration could be improved. I like classic buildings and traditional decor and this could be done more sympathetically to the style of building, but of course this would be a big expense.
