How spoiled we were to find our "room" was actually a series of rooms in an en suite. We had so much space, a lovely sitting area - more than enough for our family of 3. Our room was in the main hotel "old house" across the charming cobblestone road from the restaurant and bar. We enjoyed 3 excellent meals in the restaurant and many refreshing drinks in the bar, with views of the parrots & macaws that visit daily. If you are visiting for the Chichi market, this is an excellent and convenient location for your stay.

Not such an issue, but know that the property is over 500 years old, so water pressure for the shower & toilet was a little lacking. Also, it can be a little loud at night being in the center of town, particularly as preparations for market days begin. Bring some ear plugs if you are a light sleeper.

Staff was attentive and professional which was appreciated. Great location. Steps from the market.

The overall experience was disappointing. The food options were very limited, as many items on the menu were unavailable. Although advertised as having three restaurants, only one was open during my stay. The hotel lacked proper heating, and the shower water was warm but not hot enough. The bathroom had an unpleasant odor that seeped into the bedroom, making it uncomfortable. There were not hair dryers available, and the mirrors were positioned too high to be functional. Additionally, I was charged $202.27 on my credit card, despite my booking confirmation through booking.com was showing a total cost of $145.80. I would not recommend this hotel based on my experience.

We loved the colonial style ,it has such a charm and ethenticy of that time. Garden and bathrooms were well maintained. It was so cool in the room that I didn't even need ac.there was hot water as well. The bed was comfy, and we finally got some rest after an 8 hour drive there.the location is perfect. 2-3 minutes to market. Breakfast was included, and it was complete. Couldn't have asked for a better stay.

The bathroom toilet was taken some to fill after 1 flush, but we quickly let them know about it. I don't think they were aware until we mentioned it.

We had a wonderful family stay at Hotel Museo Mayan Inn. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, always going out of their way to ensure we had a great experience. When we encountered a minor issue with the hot water, they resolved it promptly and even treated us to complimentary drinks, which were delicious and thoughtful. The hotel's location is perfect—close to the center yet tucked away in a serene garden, offering a peaceful retreat. The food was fantastic, both in taste and presentation, and the fireplace in our room added a cozy, nostalgic charm. Staying here truly felt like stepping into another era, but in the best possible way. We highly recommend it!

Great central location, easy and secure parking. Wonderful bedrooms, all ensuite, quiet and dark. The only hotel we've ever stayed in to have an open fire available to have lit! It was truly delightful to spend the evening in. Plenty of hot water for a bath or shower. Clean towels. Lovely bed sheets. Warm duvet for the cooler nights. We were thrilled to be staying in a 100 year old museum colonial hotel. It is full of wonderful furniture, paintings and really feels like you have gone back in time! Very good breakfast. To top it off there is a tennis table free to use...and beautiful central courtyard gardens...and each room has a personal attendant who we could call, with a bell from our room, to light the fire, fill the water jug and served us breakfast in one of the beautiful dining rooms. Much more than a hotel...a living museum experience and wonderful too.

The rooms were too dark to read, but there were plenty of chairs and benches available in the gardens and bar.

Staying at the Mayan Inn and in Chichicastenango is like going back in time 50 years. Everything is original to when the hotel was built in the 1930's. It is rustic, full of antiques and art and a wonderful place to stay. The breakfast is good, served in a dining room. If you ring a small bell in your room in the evening, the staff will come and make you a fire for the chill of the nights in the highlands. The hot water is still heated by a wood burning water heater also original to the hotel. The bar is such a beautiful place to sit and enjoy a drink. It is directly beside the world famous market in Chichi, Sunday and Thursday mornings! Enjoy this step back in time.

The hotel is beautiful. The location can't be beat. We were there specially for the Thursday market, and parts begin right outside the hotel doors. The only issue this caused is that the market roosters started around 4am, but for us, that's part of the charm. The beautiful cemetery is also just steps from the hotel. We ate both dinner (paid) and breakfast (included) at the hotel. Both were great with traditional options and western as well.

The plumbing was iffy. We had two side by side rooms, one for us and one for the kids. We discovered that if the shower was in use in one room, it couldn't be used in the other.. worked out for us because we knew our neighbors 😄

We had a great room and were really happy there. There was loads of space and even a fireplace if we wanted it but we didn't. The bed was good but a bit too small for somebody who is 6'3" - I hate beds with footboards... Breakfast was good apart from the coffee. Great location for market.

There was a notice about needing to run the hot water tap for 4 minutes. This worked - except for the first night when we gave up after 15minutes. Breakfast coffee is an abomination. Thoroughly disgusting. This must be improved. It doesn't seem right these days that you have to pay extra to have WiFi in your room. WiFi only really worked in the bar and restaurant - presumably so you bought something while you were there? Parking is on an adjacent 'bomb site' and we were concerned that it was open during the day - though we did not have any issues. Nonetheless we had a very good time there and it is probably the best place in town

Lovely oldie-worries hotel with lots of character. Within east working distance of places of interest in the town. Staff always friendly and helpful. Really great to have an open fire in our room in the evenings to sit in front of.

The cold water pressure in the room was awful. Meant that the toilet didn’t always flush, a trickle for cleaning hands and teeth. Having a shower was really difficult as I practically got burnt one day. Three times they tried to adjust it but no joy.

The property is amazing and very unique and the staff is kind. The hot water takes some time but that's no big deal. This isn't a place I'd want to stay for a week but over night to see chichicastenango is well worth it. The market on Thursday comes right to the doors of the property. The views of the cemetery are stunning and the restaurant food was delicious. I love all the antique furniture and original woodwork. The history of this montesary gives it a very special feel. Even if you aren't religious. The staff were super kind and the front desk was so easy to communicate with and to help you plan your stay It's easy to walk from here to anywhere you want to see in the city.

Not the hotels fault, but as you arrive, there will be tour guides who act like they work for the hotel. Just be aware they don't, but they may follow you around to offer tours at 200Q per person to just walk the way you can on your own. If you are driving to the location, Google maps will lead you straight into the market area, and the roads are TIGHT! Look at your route ahead and avoid the areas around the churches at all cost with a vehicle There is no backing up once you're on a route as a tuktuk or 10 will be right behind you. It is terrifying and the roads are steep so if you have an automatic be sure your comfortable in tight steep spots The beds are AlL single beds. Wr didn't mind but be sure your ok with it and there is no ac to speak of in the rooms
