Property is charging an ilegal 5% fee for using card as payment. Outlawed in Guatemala since September 1st 2024. Needs to be addressed ASAP. When confronted, workers said that they have not been notified, but it is a lie. The official government announcement was made on March 2024

We stayed at Hospedaje El Viajero for two nights after a few very long days and it was a great place to rest! The location is very central with lots of restaurants, cafes and shops close by. There are small garden areas and a terrace which are really nice places to hang out. It isn't a particularly social hostel (although we had some really nice conversations with other guests), but we weren't looking for partying etc. We had a room with a shared bathroom, which was always very very clean! The room was comfortable and a really good size - the only comment I will say is that it was very dark in the room, maybe because it was in the corner of the property away from natural light, but the lights in the room weren't strong enough to make the room bright. Otherwise we had a really good stay!

Great location. I had room 9 so no need for anyone to walk past my window. Great view. Comfortable bed. Access to a kitchen. I practised yoga on the roof every morning with that great view which made me happy 😊

As explained by whoever advertises the rooms, a local family (or two) lives at the premises. This means the kitchen is always occupied, which is okay if you just join in to cook your stuff at the same time as long as there are some plates and cups left for guests to use. I ended up.keeping a set in my room so I had a clean set when I wanted to use them and washed up after myself immediately. It is noisy as warned but that didn't bother me you need to get used to that in San Marcos at night.

Really enjoyed our stay here. Our room was very comfortable and very clean, lovely outside areas: lots of greenery. Small kitchen with lots of pans, was kept clean and tidy by staff. The place is just off the main strip, so it's a good location while being a bit out of the way. Staff were friendly and helpful. Good value for money I would definitely recommend this place!

Noisy at night (the windows don't fully shut properly). Very limited fridge space, could do with getting another fridge or a larger fridge.

Nice location, right off the main street and a 10 minute walk from the lake shore. The wifi was fast and reliable. I stayed in two different rooms for the duration of my stay. The view and the comfort of the room depends on which cool you're staying in, but in general, both rooms were comfortable enough for a short-term stay. They also offer free coffee and tea near the front office. The staff was professional and attentive.

The rooms weren't filthy, but they weren't the cleanest either. A lot of dusty surfaces.

Staff is Excellent👍⭐️. Property, clean⭐️, secure, ⭐️great location, ⭐️200 meters from lake, 30 meters off main street. Quiet rooms⭐️, a good nights rest. Coffee and tea ready at 7 am. Great way to start the day!!!⭐️ The gardener gave me a Lima fresh from the tree. A cross between limon and naranja. First one for me👍

I would have liked to stay longer. Allow yourself time to enjoy, the lake , the town, and the hotel. A great place to relax and recharge.

super location, just off the main artery (shopping/restaurant street) Calle Santander and a stone's throw to the lake, still this place is quiet allowing you for a good night's sleep - the nice patio where guests could gather and the talking parrot greeting the guests in English and Spanish, so cute! - free coffee and tea in the morning and afternoon/evening hours - guest kitchen - friendly and helpful staff

you should know that they charge 5% more when you decide to pay by Credit Card, not an unusual thing in Guatemala unfortunately. I got cash from the Banco Industrial (BI) ATM where the commissions are lowest (GTQ 32 = USD 4) - otherwise nothing to complain about, I loved my stay there!

Hope Josefa has the perfect score for what a traveler dream to stay. First of all, it's the closest hotel to the ferry.(5 minutes fast walking ) Not only the superb location, the hotel has the most beautiful courtyard in a safe and quiet neighborhood even though it is conveniently located in the center of the city (10mins walk to the street market). But the best of all about the hotel is the quality of the employees who keep the property in such immaculate condition in addition to their courteous and helpful manner in customer service. These sisters, Betty and Veronica, are the true assets of the hotel. If you find a room available, you should consider yourself lucky. I cannot think of any other hotels in Santiago which can exceed the overall scores: location, safe/clean/quiet, real hot shower , great wifi, employees, decoration, landscapes, for the price..! As a bonus, on the way to reach the front door of Hotel Josefa, you will be impressed by the magnificent mural on the wall which was done by the local artists.

Absolutely nothing!

The property is in the prime location downtown, our rooms and the shared bathroom were incredibly clean and beautifully painted/decorated. This was our favorite hostel of our entire trip despite staying there only one night. Very cozy and the bed was comfortable. They even let us park for free which was great value considering how little parking is available in panahachel, especially to foreigners (The alley we had to drive down was small so be prepared if you bring your own car).

Price/quality wise = 10! -The private room on the ground floor I had was spacious enough and had a comfortable bed, nightstands, closet, tv and a ceiling fan -2 shared bathrooms on the ground floor with toilets + very good & warm showers -WiFi worked well (also in the room) -Very good location: at the Main Street with many restaurants etc + the lake, the ferry dock and supermarkets all within walking distance -Outside/patio area + a terrace where you can sit/hang out -Free drinking water + coffee in the morning+evening -Helpful+friendly staff

-Only one minor thing: Creditcard payment with surcharge -And that they were fully booked when I wanted to stay longer☺️
