If you want a quiet, clean place to stay, this is the only hotel for you. First of all, let me say that it is a bit far from the center of the town. However, it is only a 20-minute walk to the lake, so it is a light walk, and a tuk-tuk will get you there in no time, so personally, the distance was not a problem. Hotel el sol is a very clean hotel. I have lived in the U.S. and Japan for a long time, and this cleanliness is unparalleled at this price. And at night you can sleep well because of the quietness of the surroundings. (Hotels in the center of town are noisy with cars and people.) The owner is a Japanese who has lived in Guatemala for over 20 years and is very kind and of course speaks perfect Spanish, etc. I woke up in the morning, took a leisurely walk to the lake, and after enjoying the town center, returned to the inn for a good night's rest. I guess this is what vacation is all about. I will definitely visit again when I come to Panajachel. Thank you.

Very clean, and quiet as it is out of the main town but less than 10 mins walk from the lake. I slept in the dorm and it was a good, comfortable experience. The staff are friendly and keep the place spotless. 24 hour security cameras, secure parking available. Breakfast and lunch are available at extra very reasonable prices.

Free tea and coffee is provided but the kitchen is currently unavailable to guests.

The staff are very kind and the owner is incredibly helpful. There's a small refrigerator for guests to use on the second floor. The dorm is four sections with curtains that each has two beds, but they only put one person per section so you aren't sharing the space with someone else. There are big lockers to use. I like the location just outside of town, a 15 minute walk to the center and no more than 20 minutes to get anywhere else in town. Very clean, and hot water in the showers!

The wifi that wasn't for the reception often didn't have internet. There is not kitchen for guests to use, but they make that clear beforehand. I never saw the restaurant open though.

The rooms are immaculate, just like the whole place. The owner, Kazuomi, has owned Hotel El Sol since 2008. He lives on the property with his beautiful family. The vibe Is Japanese/Guatemalan, the best of both worlds. There’s even a koy fish and the neighborhood is safe and quiet, tucked up against the mountain. Breakfast in their restaurant is always delicious and the staff is top notch. Hotel El Sol is the only place I stay when in Pana. Booked four days, stayed a week. :-)

The boombas going off but that’s a cultural thing and certainly not their fault. Other countries ring church bells to celebrate.

I was lucky to have the whole dorm to myself! Pleasant and welcoming owner. Soap etc provided. Curtains between beds. Quiet.

There in CCTV in the corridor looking at the lockers (great) between the room and the shower room (fine) but given that the towel provided is the size of a notebook I wasn’t comfortable moving from one room to the other!

Spotlessly clean and a beautiful place to stay. The owner himself takes care of the guests well. It's a little far from the centre but that was I was looking for. The hotel has a private parking space, which makes it ideal for guests travelling by car. I definitely recommend this hotel.

This place is great. Not too far from the main part of town (15 min walk) and a quiet part of the lake is very near (5 min walk). Dorm room is spacious and the privacy curtail for each 2 beds is a nice feature. Can't beat the value! Would definitely stay here again.

Only downside is that the lockers are in the hallway instead of next to the beds. Just a small inconvenience. Otherwise, they were huge and looked after my surveillance cameras.

Lovely and accommodating staff, tasty breakfast prepared on the spot, comfortable room, quality pillows, heater looking like electric fireplace, shower with hot water with good pressure. PS: we had a room with balcony, and we noticed that they also have some rooms with windows facing the hallway [so no natural light], in case anyone would prefer to know this. :)

The room was quite small and the wifi was slow, otherwise we would have loved to stay longer, but it is perfect for two-three nights stay!

It's a hotel with private rooms but offers hostel service in a room with beds and divisions. Hotel is nice, clean, has security cameras, bed was confortable, service is absolutely great, they provide towels & toiletries, coffee in the morning, not to close from the main street but very affordable plus has parking.

This is by far the cleanest hotel in Latin America. It’s not even close. The owner was friendly and the property had everything needed for a comfortable stay.

It would have been nice to have an outside sitting area. The location is quite removed from restaurants and activities, but it is mentioned as do in the description do we can’t fault them for that. Just an observation.
