We have stayed at the Kantary many times and each time is just as great. We love the location - it's away from the crowds, there're no rowdy pubs or girlie bars nearby, instead there's a lovely buzz of local folk, there're excellent Thai restaurants (find Sawadee for best thai curries), and of course the hotel shuttle going back & forth between the Kantary and sister hotel Cape Panwa which gives you access to an exquisite swimming beach.

Well, it started with a free room upgrade to a 1 bedroom apartment overlooking the pool, the sea, and surrounding islands! The endless breakfast choices were amazing...hot, cold, breads and pastries, eggs how you like them, loads of hot dishes, the list goes on! Free access to the sister hotel and its facilities is a bonus as well! Night market along the foreshore with plenty of street food, lots of day trips if you want them, or just lounge by the pool. I'm always happy for a comfy bed and wifi that actually works! And throw in a trip to the local aquarium literally metres away in for good measure!

I didn't like that I couldn't stay longer!

We loved our stay. We had a beautiful sea facing unit and could sit on the balcony and take in the views. The washing machine made it so convenient to do our laundry. The breakfast spread was amazing. The staff were so friendly and helpful. My husband forgot his earphones, and before we were done checking out, they notified reception, which saved us the hassle of coming back. We could take the shuttle anytime of day to Cape Panwa Hotel and enjoy the beautiful private beach and enjoy its facilities. We particularly enjoyed the location and eating from the street vendors. You can purchase from them and sit on the promenade and eat alongside the locals while taking in the sea views.

We loved everything.

We traveled with friends and stayed two nights. The property has a great view over the bay from the upper floors. We were upgraded to a large suite on the 5th floor(room 501 )as the rooms we booked were not available for some reason. Our friends got the same suite but one the first floor with no view of the bay. The hotel has everything you need and the breakfast had a good choice. We visited and loved Panwa beach which is a short drive (or free shuttle from hotel).

The hotel is aging and needs some upgrades. The gardens and environment are however very pretty.

Probably the friendliest hotel we’ve ever stayed at. We arrived at 8.30 am expecting to have to wait until the afternoon to check in to the room, they had us in room and comfortable by 9am, breakfast at 9.30, just perfect. At reception the staff were on first name terms with lots of guests, and everyone had a smile on their face. Guests and staff. The room was great, little kitchen complete with a washing machine, fridge, hob etc. Nice pool, nice breakfast/ dining area. Beer and soft drinks available at really good prices. Probably even cheaper than the shop next door. Stunning sunsets from the balconies. We only stayed three nights, but plenty of other guests were staying for a month or more. It’s very quiet in the area, so once you’ve exhausted the local restaurants, maybe need a taxi to go further afield, but Thai taxis are well priced.

The sister hotel is where the beach is. It’s a huge hotel on the other side of the hill, transport takes you there. But, when you are there, the prices for any food or drink are extortionate. Really, they could halve the price of a beer, soft drink, any food offering and still be more than double the price elsewhere. I realise it’s a hotel price, but they really don’t need to fleece clients to that extent. Truly shocking. I’ve spent time in Switzerland and paid less for the same things. And that, when compared to the excellent value that Kantary bay offers, just felt wrong and a bit dirty as they know the location is isolated, so any choices are minimal. It’s a nice beach there. But not so nice that I’d ever go back to be fleeced again.

Room was upgraded for us which had a living room with balcony and dining table with kitchenette. Roof top swimming pool and decent gym with 2 treadmills, some weight machines. Comfortable beds with strong shower and bath. Good breakfast with egg station but the coffee machine malfunctioned after our 1st breakfast. Great quiet location as there are nearby restaurants with good food e.g. Sabai Sabai, Sawasdee and Thai spa e.g. Thai House spa. More convenient location than its sister Cape Panwa hotel for which you need to climb up a steep hill or take the shuttle bus/ taxi. About 23 min ( about 226 baht) taxi journey to Central Festival mall or Old phuket town. Lobby staff were great at providing umbrellas when it rained.

lack of dishwashing detergent, swimming pool on ground level was rather small but the rooftop swimming pool had a better view and one could do laps. Shower temperature not steady enough, needed adjustments to maintain warm temperature. Needed to take shuttle bus to get to the beach at Cape Panwa Hotel. There is another public beach to the right of the hotel. away from Phuket aquarium about 10 min walk away. Many stairs to get up to the lobby or to your rooms and when it rains, the stairs to the lobby get wet, fortunately there is a separate lift and covered staircase. Decor at Cafe Kantary should be updated.

Overall, the property was lovely. We had an excellent room which was well-equipped and very comfortable, and the bathroom was also quite large and very clean compared to what you normally get in a hotel. The staff were generally very friendly and accommodating, and the breakfast was consistently good every day with some variety in the menu. While there is no beach at the property per se, they have a shuttle which connects you to a sister property with a beautiful beach and it's only about 5 minutes away. We never had any issues getting to the beach during our stay. There are also nice gym facilities which we found useful.

We didn't encounter any major issues, although we did try to book an excursion through the hotel and ended up having to re-plan our day the day before the trip was supposed to happen as it had been overbooked. This was a bit frustrating as we had already paid a deposit, but we were able to replan our trip independently and the hotel happily returned the deposit that we had paid, so everything ended well.

We loved that we had the option to use the sister hotels facilities and that there was a private beach with a tram going down to it. The room was amazingly spacious and we particularly enjoyed chilling on the balcony. The staff were so helpful and the breakfast was really good, there was something there for everyone. We want to give a special shoutout to a local restaurant called ‘eat me’ which is about a five minute walk from the hotel. They serve excellent Thai food with such cheap prices (hotel prices are a bit more expensive and it is average food) we would recommend anyone staying at this hotel to have a meal at ‘eat me’. The hotel restaurants are very inclusive for vegetarians which made our stay even more enjoyable and less stressful. Overall we would recommend people to stay at this hotel.

A little bit expensive food wise and the signage for things could have been a little bit better.

We loved our stay. We had a beautiful sea facing unit with a big balcony. There were lots of options in the breakfast buffet. The staff were friendly. The all-day shuttle to Cape Panwa Hotel is a huge bonus! You can enjoy the beautiful private beach and its facilities, with the exception of the main pool. We especially enjoyed the location, it’s away from the chaos of phuket, yet still has a 7-11 store,a few restaurants, shops and massage centers. The seaside street food market was wonderful,you can simply join the locals and enjoy your food on a bench by the water.

housekeeping doesn't speak any english

We have stayed a few times before so knew what to expect. Probably the most outstanding aspect was the friendliness and cooperation of the staff. They were all first rate and made us feel right at home. We also liked the breakfast and the general atmosphere of the hotel. We love the Kantary facilities but also value the beach and other activities at Cape Panwa that we were able to access. We will return!!!

The only aspect we didn't like is having to climb so many steps to access the reception area. We are getting older and steps are not are friends. We are thrilled that an additional elevator is being installed between the ground floor and reception.
