The Forge is a lovely, friendly, village pub situated in the small village of Aislaby, only three miles from Whitby Our room was huge, really comfortable and really quiet. This is in the area of the Heartbeat television country, only a short distance from the fictional village of Aidensfield. Aidensfield was the fictional name for the village of Goathland just a few miles from The Forge. The food in the Forge was brilliant, especially the breakfast.
The only thing that we did not like was that we could not stay longer.

Great location for North York Moors and its heritage railway and Whitby. (Recommend trip on railway especially with meal included.) Hourly bus service into Whitby taking only 15 min with stop close by. Country Inn in quiet village with good parking, and well patronised Cosy clean and comfortable accommodation. Excellent cooked breakfast. Also had evening meals. Good choice on menu with regular specials. All well cooked and delicious. Recommend crab if its on menu. Staff welcoming and very helpful. Would be more than happy to revisit. Tip.. be aware of check in times.
Nothing comes to mind.

Staff were welcoming, cheerful, efficient and helpful. The rooms were well equipped. Breakfast was served on time, with enough variety to suit different dietary needs. The evening meals available were also good.
This hotel is a little way from main public transport. Holiday makers would really need their own transport. A taxi would be the best option from Whitby. There may be a lift though it was not offered as an option to the bedrooms on the first and second floors.

Plenty of carpark space, the breakfast was absolutely lovely, great selection it arrived to the table hot and the service was quick, started the day off great. The staff were lovely and friendly nothing was too much trouble. The room was clean the bed was comfy and it catered for everything you needed for your stay (I liked it had tea/coffee facilities in your room as not all places do). The pub was situated just outside the town centre but not to far away to get to by a short taxi ride. The pub was very cosy and welcoming, would definitely stay here again.

Excellent staff, friendly and helpful througout. Food quality and choice for evening meal and breakfast was good, quick service good quality food. Specials board was great. Recommend booking for an evening meal if possible to prevent disappointment. We visited on a Saturday so openinghours not a concern, other days recommend checking and planning accordingly. Ample free parking immediately in front of the Forge, post code worked perfect on Sat Nav. Only 10 minutes max car ride to Whitby. If parking in Whitby go early and take coins, not all machines take cards, there are also disc parking areas which typically all 3 hours free parking.
These are very minor and would not stop us staying again. Size of TV in room 6 very small. Kettle did not fit under the tap so we used the bathroom glasses to top up. Stairs were not an issue for us but there are 2 flights without a lift.

Staff friendly. Breakfast good. Room clean. Venue called us before we arrived to ask us if we wanted an evening meal which was thoughtful.
Just a small thing but shower hose didn't sit well in the holder due to damage so could do with replacement. Sloped ceilings might be challenging for taller guests so perhaps a mention in the room description could be helpful. Otherwise a very nice stay.

Breakfast 100% , this was one of the best experiences ever. Lovely staff, great local people. We had a lovely evening meal and a table quiz for dessert, and a game of Bingo before bed. 60+ people in a quaint village in the moors middle of the week and everyone enjoying life. "I'll be Back"
Better quality mattress on the bed and 100% x 100% But they were 75%

Loved everything! The location was great with sea glimpses from the bedroom window. Staff were friendly and helpful. Food was delicious. Bedroom was a great size with comfy beds and easy to use hot shower.
Having to carry bags up two flights of stairs but this is expected in older properties so you just take up what you really need. We take a smaller bag and leave suitcase in the car.

The suite room was beautiful, clean and cosy, made of a bedroom, a bathroom and a lounge with couch, tv, coffee table and a chess board. There was a kettle and instant coffee and tea if you wanted some during your stay. Soap and shower gel are served and there is a hair dryer, too. Parking is available. The room was just above a pub, serving food at breakfast, lunch and dinner. The breakfast was included in the price. The place is a bit isolated from any kind of facilities (you have to move by car), but the surroundings were beautiful and magical under the snow. There were few houses around us, but you are practically immersed in the countryside. The staff was extremely kind and ready to help for anything. The place is located near Whitby. It is very easy to reach Whitby Abbey by car, which I highly recommend as a short trip.
There was no continental breakfast, only English breakfast. To be honest, this is not a major thing. Continental breakfast would be my preference, but I did like my poached eggs ;)
