Close to a bus stop which made travel into the city centre on the frequent buses straightforward and easy. The room was clean and quiet and the bed was comfortable. Good shower. The owner was friendly and helpful. I would stay here again.

The curtains were thin and not wide enough. Gap under door and down the side of the sliding bathroom door. All this meant extraneous light in the room and I like it dark. Wash basin so small it was very difficult to use. Huge tap made this worse. Room servicing did not include making the bed. No breakfast option. A small fridge in the room would have been very useful.

The Balkan Lodge was basic, but good value. It was perfect for us as we were attending a party about 20mins walk away on the river. It may be a little far out of town if you're wanting to be in Oxford centre, but otherwise a good budget hotel.

We like walking so it was fine, but if you struggle to do 15,000 steps a day, you'll need to take a taxi to town for a visit. Guy on the desk was very friendly and the accommodation basic, but great. Being on a main road, I was concerned it would be noisy, but it wan't bad at all.

I must admit I was a little nervous about staying here and wondered if it was going to be a little Fawlty Towers like! How wrong I was! Everything was great. Easy to find wit a nice little car park. Warm, friendly welcome on arrival. Spotless and well equipped room. Very comfortable bed and and room was warm and quiet. Highly recommended!

The only very minor criticisms I can make are: No coat hook in the room (seems to be the case in 90% of hotels!) I only had two tea bags and could have done with a couple more.

Very friendly gentleman on the front desk. I was not sure about arrival time due to wandering around Oxford but very accommodating with the check in time. Excellent location just outside of the center but close enough to walk(30-40mins) and great bars around the area. A little older fashioned room but very clean and tidy with all amenities i needed. Great place to stay visiting Oxford and when I come back again I will definitely be coming back to the Balkan Logde. Much thanks, Chris from Wales.

Nothing bad at all.

Small but comfy room. Bathroom had full amenities which was convenient as I'd forgotten my toothbrush. V handy location: £7 Uber from city centre; parallel road had plenty of bars & eateries; Co-op one block away. Took the bus into Oxford in the afternoon - 10 min drive

Room was v hot so a fan would've been useful. Even with the window open all night it was v hot.

The property was out of town but an ideal place to stay before running the Oxford half marathon the day after. I was easily able to walk into town. There is also a convenience store close by, and free parking at the property where I left my car whilst doing the run. John who owns the property was very helpful and nice to talk to. My room was small but comfortable and just what I needed for the night, it was tidy and cosy. The shower was hot. The downstairs lobby had a nice place to sit down and an additional lounge.

It was probably a bit far out of town for most people’s needs.

The Balkan Lodge was lovely. John was exceptionally kind, the rooms were always clean, and the accommodations were excellent. I recommend the Balkan Lodge for a stay of any duration. The Balkan Lodge is also quite close to the bus stop, making it a convenient short walk to the bus stop and a 10-minute ride to Oxford's High Street. It was well worth it for the money and friendly staff!

Comfortable rooms in a great location. Pubs and restaurants nearby and bus service into town practically on the doorstep. Off road parking and easy access to road system make it a handy place to stay. Supermarket nearby for any needs is a bonus.

No breakfast service but not a problem because plenty of choice in the town via great bus service

Location: though a bit out of the centre there is a very good and frequent bus service with stops very close to hotel. Despite being on the Iffley Road the room was quiet, and very comfortable. A lovely full-length bath which I always greatly appreciate! No breakfast available but the staff gave me good advice about local (very close!) cafés and Co-op for my own breakfast supplies.

Balkan Lodge doesn’t offer breakfast. We walked a short distance up the road to 2 different cafes, both of which offered good options. The room was very comfortable and clean with good facilities. Caught frequent buses into the city centre, but it’s not too far to walk. Friendly host.
