Wonderful location and view. We had a room with the lake view and a four poster bed. The price paid for the room and breakfast was reasonable. The price for dinner and wine was quite steep and maybe this is the hotels compensation for the room rate. Saying this, the quality of the food was excellent and we very much enjoyed the two dinners and breakfasts we had. Staff were friendly and professional. My wife walked the entire circumference of the lake one morning and it is further than you may imagine.

The cost of the wine was steep a GBP13-15 retail wine is 50 in the restaurant. Dinner for two each evenings was ~GBP130 The bathroom was clean and functional but the shower head could have done with descaling to contain the spread.

It was as good as we hoped it would be based on all of the reviews. The lake view is truly beautiful, the grounds are well maintained and there are opportunities for walking in the countryside at the back of the hotel if the 12 miles round the lake on tarmac doesn’t appeal.

Some already high dinner menu prices had been increased above those on the website and the menu choices could do with being broadened. The food quality and presentation could not be faulted though.

Room very comfortable with amazing view of the lake. WiFi was a bit hit and miss. Breakfast was excellent. Evening meals a bit limited, we understood the pub would also serve food but when we arrived we were told they no longer did this which meant we had no choice but to eat in the restaurant with only a choice of the same 6 main courses. Also we hoped to walk round the lake but found parts of it closed off due to the clear up of Storm Darragh which is still taking place and will probably take most of the year. There were still some lovely walks but would have been nice to have been told this prior to visiting. We still had a lovely time staying here.

There is nothing to dislike about this hotel. You have to experience it for yourself to see how amazing it is. The views are breathtaking, and we had a lake view from our bedroom window. We stayed for a week and could not fault this in any way. Food is top notch, there is a spa on site and a clay pigeon shooting range also. This is not a noisy hotel by anymeans and we had an extremely quiet and relaxing holiday which is what we wanted. Cleaners knocked every single day to see if we needed anything. Bed was huge, we had a bath and a shower. Lots of different drinks, teas, coffees, herbal drinks, and luxury hot chocolate. Bed was super comfy.

Absolutely nothing that we didn't like..

The location is great. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the staff are friendly and helpful.

We’ve been many times and felt this time the dinner menu wasn’t as good as previously. Being vegetarian and staying a few nights it was limited. We were able to order from the lunch menu but felt the food wasn’t as good as previously. However we did enjoy the breakfast menu.

We stayed a few nights in a „Premuim Lakeview Room“. The view was spectacular and we enjoyed a few “concerts” by birds sitting on the railing of our balcony. The room was clean and big; the bed very comfy (the staff kindly added another topper on request). The breakfast was very good; a lot of options to choose from (some more healthy than others ;-)…) . The hotel is older and, yes, there are creaky stairs and chipped edges but that just added to the charm of it. The spa is very small (England ist generally not known for its spas); but the massages were brilliant. The drive to get to the Snowdonia main attractions ist about 1 to 1 1/2 hours - the drive itself through beautiful landscape, far from the busy tourist spots.

Just little things that I would improve: Like a flexible shower head that can be adjusted to one’s height/need. Or a telly that allows you to watch your Netflix or other streaming services.

We love this hotel - the food is really fantastic and the location is amazing. The staff were wonderful and happy to help, they also made my dad’s 60th special for him. We had a really great time and it was the best location in the evenings to spend time as a family and play cards.

The rooms could do with a refresh - the shower in our room was not great. The service was sometimes a little slow but it was tricky as we were a bigger group - I did message the restaurant a few weeks prior about sorting out a cake but they had no record of this when we had dinner on the first night which was a shame.

Lovely old hotel, warm and comfortable. Miles from nearest town of any size. Food was lovely, great breakfasts, Tapas and light bites imaginatuve. Limited main menu, but beautifully cooked and presented. The dark skies full of amazing stars were a true bonus.; the hotel could offer dark sky viewing just by turning outside lights off, or using downlight instead of floodlights

Unfortunately, storm Darragh in December 2024 did extensive damage to the forests surrounding the lake. It isn't possible to drive around the kake anymore, nor are some of walks permissible. The hotel could, maybe, forewarn visitors as part of the attraction is the lake drive and the varied walks and hikes

I loved that we could bring our dog, the views were beautiful, cream tea was great, most of the staff were wonderful and there were nice thoughtful touches throughout. The spa was lovely and general space and feel of the hotel was of a very high standard. Breakfast tray idea was great.

One of the staff at the restaurant clearly did not want to be there and he made us feel like an inconvenience which was a shame as the rest of the staff really were wonderful. Having no dogs in the restaurant and no food in the dog friendly bar feels like they are trying to starve dog owners. Very odd policy for such a great dog friendly hotel. This should be reviewed as the options didn’t work for us which lost the hotel revenue. It would also put us off coming again.

We had a lake view room which was unbelievably beautiful even when the whether wasn't. Food was phenomenal even though the menu was limited, every meal was excellent and well worth it. You can have food to the room a la carte if you require it which was nice. Spa was very good, very small hot tub but nice facilities regardless. But the view, the view was the best thing.

No menus or helpful notes in the room. Had to borrow menus from the restaurant. Bar is only open from 5 onwards and some of the menus would be amazing if they were just all day. Breakfast menu was limited, and depending on what staff you had, some things were unavailable.
