Always enjoy staying at the White Lion - this is our fourth stay. Staff are friendly and welcoming. All rooms are clean including the bar area and outside spaces. Great spacious and clean bedroom and bathroom. Bed linen and towels clean. Decent hospitality tray. Bed large and comfortable. Breakfast is very good. There was a large group arrived at the same time as us. The waitress did a fantastic job she was rushed off her feet! Nice selection of cereals; pastries, yogurts, jams, etc. Full breakfast was served in hot plates and very tasty. All in a pleasant breakfast room. You make your own toast and drinks but it’s well organised and neatly arranged - easy self service and the waitress continuously replaces items that are used.

We been 4 times so we think they’ve got it right!! Excellent value - many thanks!

Can't fault it at all. Lovely place. Really impressed! Was just me and my dog, paid an additional £15 on arrival for the dog which was expected. Staff very helpful and friendly, room was clean and worth the money paid. Ate in the restaurant and food was good value and lovely for the price. Good location, about a 5-10 min walk to the lake. Shops and other food places within 5 min walk.

Not a complaint by no means, just something to be mindful of if no good with stairs or with a dog... I was on the 3rd floor, so with a dog and having to take him out for a toilet break late at night, during the night and in the early hours wasn't ideal, but not an issue and didn't affect my stay ☺️. Poor dog had a strop at 3am though wanting to try go to the second floor instead as he had enough of stairs 🤣. Room was really hot but given it's middle of the summer, not much you can do and of course not the hotels fault. They did provide a fan in the room though and was able to open windows a little ☺️.

The hotel is right in the centre of town, very convenient for pubs and restaurants. We were on a cycling trip so we needed somewhere secure to leave our bikes, and the hotel had confirmed that they did have secure storage. On arrival the receptionist advised us that we could leave them in a storeroom in the car park which would not be locked. This wasn’t really suitable as our bikes are valuable so they kindly agreed to let us store them in a spare staff room in the hotel. Our room was comfortable and well equipped with a great shower. Breakfast was good but we only had the continental option.

All the Staff were very friendly, bedroom was clean , comfortable and everything you needed , had a great night's sleep 👍🏻bar was good and competitive prices for beer , larger and shorts 👍🏻

We had a cooked breakfast, which was so so , the toast tea coffee etc , excellent. The cooked breakfast looked great but the back pudding was rock hard and tasted awful tbh , sausages , bacon , beans , tomatoes and mushrooms also good , but hash brown appeared to be warmed up 'yesterdays' hash brown , it may not have been but that's what it tasted like . All That said our overall stay was excellent and the part of breakfast we did enjoy was more than acceptable 👍🏻

The hotel was way more than expected. Staff were brilliant. The dining room was spacious and welcoming. Food was good. Christmas lunch was just right. The kitchen were happy to provide a smaller portion for me as I can't manage large portions. There were several choices for each course. There was a wait for service, not too long, it was a very popular meal. My waitress was great. Full marks to all the restaurant staff. Beautiful hotel. It's dog friendly, and your furry family members get a welcome pack and they have dog beds available. One of the best hotels for dogs to stay with you.

Nothing really. No lift, however, as it's a listed building, this cannot be changed. Not much of a problem even though I have trouble with this, having chairs on each landing, I could rest between floors. I would still stay here again.

Easy check in and the room was adequate. Had tea and coffee facilities and a nice big shower and lots of towels

We ordered pie and mash off the menu. At £13.00 we expected a home made pie as we needed to ask what the pie of the day was. When it arrived it looked like a shop brought pie. I do not recall the menu stating it was home made, but given you had to ask what the pie of the day we presume they were home made. Our friends wanted ham, egg and chips but the gas was not working so they could not have eggs so they needed to change what they wanted. Not sure how long the gas hadn't been working.

Lovely large spacious rooms, and friendly breakfast staff - particularly with one breakfast server! Didn’t catch her name but she was a lady from Prague and she was so kind, so considerate and was amazing helping myself and my children with their breakfasts.

We had a meal together n the evening - quite a lot of food options weren’t available which was disappointing. Also, we had breakfasts but they didn’t have milk available! Breakfast staff were incredibly apologetic but Management should make sure there are adequate supplies in time for the breakfast service! It was also reeeeeeally hot in our rooms but the radiators weren’t on and windows open - which was strange as it’s late October and very rainy. So not sure how it felt like a midsummer night!

Great pub! The room is a little old but big and comfy. The bathroom is really nice and spacious. We read the reviews saying that it might be loud, so we asked for a room on the top floor, and it was quiet. However, the floor is very squeaky, so if you’re a light sleeper, definitely book a room on the top floor. The breakfast was only £10 per person, and it’s great value for money! The lady at breakfast was very friendly.

The room is quite old, and the floor is squeaky. You could hear people in the corridor. There is a very limited amount of parking space.

Good location in centre of pleasant town of Bala. Good price. Comfortable room.

I arrived at 2:45, checkin was at 3. It wasn't busy at all, in fact no-one around. Someone appeared at desk, I was told I was 'too early' and was made to sit by the desk in reception until 2:58 when they grudgingly let me check in. This did not feel at all like a warm welcome. When I got to my room, no sign of any housekeeping staff etc, I am certain the room had been ready for hours!

This is the perfect traditional coaching inn. Half-timbered outside, inside the rooms are all down a maze of rambling corridors (check the fire exit location carefully!) They serve a good pub menu with a choice of excellent beers, while the beer garden is very popular with locals as well as tourists. Breakfast also very good. No surprise to learn that it's been there for nearly 300 years, that Queen Victoria stayed there, and that George Borrow in 1860 felt that the beer was as good as you could get anywhere.

Our room wasn't very big, and most of Bala's surprisingly vivacious nightlife happens just outside, which is a mixed blessing.
