The staff was sensational. My daughter had an accident and injured her toe. Everyone - and I mean everyone- went out of their way to look after her and make us feel comfortable. I can’t thank the entire team enough. Special thanks go to Shiroman who cheered my daughter up when she needed it the most. She liked him so much that she drew a picture of him with the title “My Friend Shiroman”. As for the building, it just oozed character. We loved the Admiral Zheng He Suite. It’s not every day that you get to stay in such historic and architecturally stunning horse stables. If only the walls could talk…

This is a beautiful, historic, boutique hotel, perfectly situated inside the Galle fort. The characterful bar is a special feature. Breakfasts were very good, and served in a relaxing setting. The staff were friendly and helpful. Also, while not specific to the hotel, the local guide to whom the hotel referred us to for a walking tour, Mr Chirath De Silva, was outstanding.

We can't think of anything to criticise, although it could be said that all these good things come at a price point which is high by Sri Lankan standards (but so do a number of other things within the fort).

Beautiful, spacious rooms and an all-around beautiful hotel. Very clean and well-maintained. Lovely toiletries provided. The food was really good. The staff was attentive and helpful.

Nothing the hotel can do about this but the hotel is located inside the fort without any views of the ocean. However the internal courtyard with old Franginpani trees was beautiful and restful in their own way. I am not sure if its was because I came during the off season but the foyer and restaurant areas was always dark without the lights on and so it also felt like the the hotel was closed. It did not create a welcoming atmosphere.

This hotel is quality all the way. The team are sonprofessional and skilled at what they do in every aspect. The bar staff, the restaurant, the cleaning and grounds, all of them. The food at this hotel is of outstanding quality and authenticity, for Sri Lankan and other foods. There is a generous breakfast menu as well, overlooking the beautiful pool. Choose the Sri Lankan but all of it will be delicious. Make sure to rest on the verandah out the front with the sea breeze and fans while you watch the daily buzz go by. sits one of the best vantage points in the Fort for people watching. The coffee is very good and also includes a beautifully designed specialist arrack bar with a wide array of signature cocktails.

Think the bathroom was a bit austere compared to the rest of the interior of the room Could benefit from blackout blinds (we saw other rooms with this but not ours) - wasn’t a problem for me, but my partner usually likes absolute darkness to sleep

This hotel is truly a gem for history lovers. Filled with ornate objects, colonial era furniture, four poster beds, creaky wooden floors, the works! It has been masterfully restored. And yet it contains all the modern day comforts. Service was top notch. No complaints at all. Breakfast was a highlight- beautiful presented and filled us up until the afternoon.

The lobby and breakfast area are not air-conditioned. Which can be uncomfortable for some people, given how hot and humid Galle can be. Travellers bringing small kids need to take extra precaution. Kid-friendly railings are not present in some areas of the property, and there are some items on display with 'do not touch' warnings. But I guess you should expect this if you are staying in a historical building.

Sensational location and the interior is stunning. All the staff are welcoming and friendly. It felt like I was staying in a luxurious home instead of a hotel. We stayed upstairs in apartment 1 with the shared common lounge and it was lovely and quiet. I particularly loved the bed being turned down and chocolates provided after returning to our “apartment” post dinner.

The hot breakfast could have been a little bigger, especially if you don’t eat pastry’s which are also provided. Also, only a little niggle, but the antique cupboard door wouldn’t stay shut in our bathroom. An easy fix. Other than that, everything else was wonderful.

Absolutely beautiful colonial building in the centre of the Fort with beautiful interior decoration. Stunning and large rooms which are very luxurious, modern, new and clean. Bed very comfortable. We had the two level loft room which we loved. Lovely pool to cool off and relax in. The breakfasts were fantastic and great latte coffees. Great choice of Sri Lanka breakfast and/or western plus fruit and toast/pastries. Great bar. Great location.

We liked everything about this hotel

Gorgeous property. Couldn’t find any faults. Loved my stay there. Wish I could have stayed longer. It’s a paradise right smack in the middle of the fort area. So convenient.

Food wasn’t that great and drinks at the bar were just ok. I ended up the the Fort Bazaar bar most nights which had a splendid bartender and amazing drinks. Also the set menu at breakfast was a bit of a dampener. If you wanted eggs you couldn’t have pancakes. And vice versa. Otherwise no real issues. Service was great at breakfast.

Everything about this hotel was splendid ….location room food staff and management. Had a very relaxing time staying 16 nights here with excellent service from everyone, George and his team kept our rooms pristine cleaning them twice a day. The chef Saneda and his team presented us with extremely tasty dishes which were served by the super waitress and waiters ….Wow! what a service we received from them ….they couldn’t do enough for us. Management made sure our stay was as comfortable as could be also efficiently organising trips etc. for us. To Kareesha well done…sure you’ll go onto a great future.
