Very new and modern business hotel. Very clean. Luxury, spacious shower. Rooms are a bit impersonal (minimalistic design and decor) but quite practical. Perfect location in the center of Ljubljana - all major tourist attractions of this beautiful city may be reached within a few minutes walk.

Minibar is not stuffed (even no mineral water). You may buy some drinks and snacks at the reception, but rather expensive. Breakfast - a complete variety of choices in the buffet is given, but the quality of the components is rather average (all industrial convenience products). No food from regional sources (as far as I could recognize), no "bio" products, no local specialities - just the usual stuff like everywhere in international chain hotels. Not up to the otherwise excellent level of the hotel. (But there is plenty of delicious food opportunities nearby outside).

Nice, new hotel, in a central location. Excellent breakfast. Comfortable beds.

There is no closet or wardrobe, just a tiny bar to hang some clothes. The bathroom space is poorly designed. In fact, there are two separate small cabins for shower and toilet, and the sink is basically in the room. It's ok for a solo traveler, but for a couple, it is quite awkward. You must undress in the room, otherwise, you will get your clothes wet inside the shower cabin. Then, when you go out, you can't use a towel on the floor, as it blocks the shower door. And if you want to use the toilet in the night, the light and the noise will disturb your partner.

The location of the hotel is excellent. The room was extremely clean, one of the cleanest 4 star hotel rooms I have ever seen. And one of the quietest as well. The staff is nice. Quick and easy check-in, even quicker and easier check-out.

I was traveling alone so the room was perfect. But if you traveling with someone (especially someone who you’re not particularly close with) it could be somewhat “uncomfortable” because the toilette is separated from the rest of the room with stained glass door, it basically means you have only a visual isolation. 😄

Everything was good overall. The place was very clean, and most of the staff were very kind and helpful — they gave us extra blankets and helped us whenever we needed something. However, there was one middle-aged blonde woman at the reception who seemed to look down on us, which made us feel uncomfortable. There was also a payment issue — earlier we were told that the full amount had already been charged, but at checkout they said one night was missing and we had to pay it then. It wasn’t a problem to pay, but it caused stress and wasted our time while we were in a hurry. This is something the staff should have handled properly beforehand. Also, we didn’t like that the sink for washing hands was placed in the room instead of the bathroom, which made the space feel a bit cramped.

New, modern hotel in a great location for enjoying Ljubljana. Walkable to sights, restaurants and shopping. Breakfast and Tapas at the bar were both excellent.

We hadn't expected to need parking, but the lot we usually use was closed. This led to some confusion, because there didn't seem to be an area for temporary parking so you could unload the car, check-in and get parking details/access to the hotel parking area so we had to pull directly into the garage and just use general parking. No matter, the garage is very clean and safe. There should be a little sign near the hotel elevator in the garage that indicates you must contact the front desk for access. All minor details.

We stayed at Occidental Ljubljana in June 2025 for 3 nights. It was a last minute booking (we decided to leave Zagreb early and go to Ljubljana instead) – we literally booked it a couple hours before arriving. It’s a true hotel – which is different than many places you stay in Europe, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. The receptionists (who I believe are there 24/7?) were very helpful and gave us some good suggestions on where to eat and go. The rooms were nice, modern, and clean…the A/C worked well and the beds were comfortable. The location was great – very close to the center of old town, but we never noticed any noise. It was also conveniently located in the same building as a Lidl, which made some grocery shopping very easy. The hotel also has its own private parking in the same building (it’s a public garage, but in a separate area you need a code for – just ask the front desk). It did cost extra, but was extremely convenient. Overall we would definitely stay at Occidental Ljubljana again.

We noticed a lot of reviews before arriving about the weird bathroom layout – everything is modular. The toilet is in one cubicle (separated by a door); the shower is in another cubicle (again with its own door)…both are off of the sink area, which is open to the rest of the room. Honestly, this did not pose any issues for my wife and I, but it is something to note, as I could see it being a problem if you are traveling with non-family members (you basically have to walk into an open area to get a towel).

The room was very clean. Including in the shower and in the toilet. During the three days of my stay, I did not invite cleaning even once. I liked the opportunity to open the window in winter to ventilate the room. This is important to me because I can't sleep if the window in the room is closed. There is also a wonderful opportunity to raise and lower the air temperature in the room. When we arrived, it was very hot. I lowered the temperature to a comfortable 21 degrees. There was a very nice girl at the reception on the day of our departure on December 23rd. She smiled and chatted sweetly, helped us with our luggage. A wonderful stuff member of the hotel.

There is a shelf and a safe above the place, where your suitcase or your travel bag stands. You bend over your suitcase and inevitably hit your head on the wooden corner when you lift your head. It's very uncomfortable and painful. They didn't have any slippers during my stay. I can't imagine living in a hotel, using a shower and not having slippers. Barefoot or something? In the morning, I called the restaurant to order a club sandwich and coffee. They told me that they couldn't fulfill my order because they only delivered breakfast in the morning. €18 per person, by the way. And €35 per night for parking is a way too much, I guess.

My room (511) was large and lovely. Comfy bed and a lot of light. Giant terrace. Convenient central location. The staff were all very friendly and helpful.

Even though my room was lovely I have two complaints. I booked a room with a castle view and the room itself does not have one. You have to be out in the terrace, looking over the next room’s hedge to have the view. While this is in no way catastrophic it felt like a misleading sales tactic to get you to pay more. Secondly some of the design choices in the bathroom were impractical (poor lighting, WC light goes on with movement which is not great in the idle of the night, shower door opens outward flush against the floor meaning you can’t put down a towel to step on, etc). Again not dramatic but not what you would expect at this quality of hotel.

The location is perfect and the view of the castle from our castle view room was stupendous. The room was spotlessly clean, the beds were extremely comfortable and the shower and toiletries lovely. The breakfast was also good.

We had booked a child's bed in the room prior to arrival but this hadn't been organised and then for some reason in took an inordinate amount of time for them to do the admin so that I could pay the extra €45 a night for it. I'm not sure if this was to do with Barcelo hotels system or the staff not knowing how to deal with it but it was quite annoying.

The room was extra clean and tidy when we arrived and it looks like the staff cares for the facilities and keeps them in good condition. The bed was very comfortable and cozy. It was really quiet and we were able to sleep with no problems. And the breakfast was excellent and all the staff were really helpful and nice about everything.

The thing that bothered me was that a weird guy came inside the hotel atrium asking people to hire him as a guide but he was clearly not well. None of the staff reacted to that incident and that seemed strange to me. That was only on the first day. The other thing is that parking could be a little cheaper than current 35 euros.
