5 Stars in every way! Allow me to explain…Here is the review that you need - and, from a very seasoned traveler. I was fortunate to have rented the classic room for over 2 weeks at “Les Voiles Blanches.” For ease of writing this review, I’ll refer to the hotel as LVB (for short). Location (5 stars - close to the action but, not too close): LVB is an 1 hour 10 minutes from the Liberia Airport (Joe can help to arrange a shuttle) or go online and rent a car (my suggestion - 3rd party liability insurance is NOT covered by your credit card and is typically 2x-3x the daily price of the rental…so please take this into consideration). LVB is 12-14 minutes car ride to/from the center of Tamarindo Beach. Please read this again! This is a luxury property where you can get to places fairly easily by car, but it’s no one that is walkable to shops, restaurants, bars, etc. Playa Grande is about 25 min (nice beach), Villa Real is 5 minutes (small markets, shops, quick eats) Avellanas Beach is about 20 minutes (beautiful and quiet beach with incredible authentic Italian restaurant called Il Rustico). Joe can also help to schedule tours, surf lessons, etc. And, he’s very resourceful-so, if he doesn’t know…he can still help you. I have given them the suggestion to have shuttles going into and out to Tamarindo each day. Once the place is consistently fully booked, they will definitely need to do this. But, if you’re renting a car, this won’t be a factor. Food (BREAKFAST OF THE STARS). Joe and Isa are former successful restaurateurs back home in Ottawa, Canada. Their breakfasts (that are included) are INCREDIBLE (each day the menu changes, and they are very flexible with you about your dietary restrictions). They have small refrigerators in each place (they start you off with a couple of water bottles), but you can totally go to a local market/mercado and stock up with drinks, alcohol, and snacks.

Nothing. You’re in Costa Rica…not in a big city. Some will complain that it is not near the beach. Rent a car and it takes 10-14 min to get to the beach in Tamarindo

Wow, what an unforgettable experience! We split our time in the area between this property and another, and after just three nights here, we genuinely wished we had spent our entire trip at this incredible spot. Our private bungalow was stunning. Beautifully designed, spacious, and very comfortable. Having our own private pool felt like such a luxury, and the main pool offered the same upscale, resort-like ambiance. Every detail was thoughtfully done. Joe and his wife were exceptional hosts, welcoming and attentive. The fresh, made-to-order breakfast each morning was a true highlight: delicious, and featuring a different menu each day. Their 2 sweet dogs added a special, homey charm to the stay as well. The location was also ideal, just minutes from great restaurants, beaches, and nearby sights, yet still peaceful and private. Without a doubt, this is one of the best places we’ve ever stayed. We’re already planning our return… next time, for much longer!

That we didn’t stay longer!

Word can not express how comfortable our stay was with Joe and Isa. They are so welcoming and personable. They make sure you have everything you need. The grounds are beautiful with lush tropical gardens and palm trees with meandering walk ways to your individual bungalows with private pools right off the porch steps. Everything is clean and tastefully decorated. Beds are so comfortable and it is so quiet for a restful night. OMGoodness the breakfast they cook for you each morning is so healthy and bursting with flavors! It is served in an outdoor area overlooking the larger pool & gardens with the sound of the waterfall. We enjoyed being 10 mins from the beaches and crowds. The property is gated so you feel securely tucked in to a little paradise!

This location was a wonderful and tranquil base for our anniversary trip to Costa Rica. It felt like an oasis, and we were able to drive short distances to different beaches and activities each day...and then looked forward to relaxing in the pool at Les Voiles Blanches. The hosts were available and welcoming, and the breakfasts were delicious with veggie options for us (and the menu even changed during our short stay)! It was quiet, the bed and modern bungalow was clean and private and comfortable. We loved having the mini fridge and kitchenette option. The A/C was much appreciated to cool off from the heat. We loved the two chill and friendly golden retrievers who greeted us occasionally. It was great to have easy, secure parking.

Fantastic stay of 3 weeks at this wonderful luxury lodge boutique hotel. The owners who run the place are extremely friendly, helpful and provide really great service, making you feel at home. You can tell they love what they do. Breakfasts were fabulous, rooms were tidy and clean, comfy beds, outdoor shower is a great touch. The location is perfect, easy drive to tamarindo and nestled in a quite relaxing environment out of crowded areas. Close to various other beaches and easy to get to main roads for sightseeing. Overall a great experience to repeat.

Next to the fact that the location is simply wonderful, filled with lush greenery and birds, an oasis of tranquility, Joe and Isa, the hosts, are warm people and truly care for their guests. They immediately make you feel at home upon arrival. The location is spot clean, all details in place. The hosts cater to all your needs, you really feel treated like a queen and king. Joe and Isa have a background in the food industry, which you can see in the breakfast. Tasteful, seasoned, fresh and original platters, prepared with love. Would 100% recommend to couples looking for a relaxing atmosphere, away from the hustle and bustle of touristy Tamarindo.

Incredibly beautiful property, responsive and warm host, pool was gorgeous, and living space was comfortable, well equipped: bed was comfortable, A Frame was air conditioned, and shower/bathroom was massive. Helpful host connected me with surf lessons and was communicative of entry information via WhatsApp the entire stay.

Hotel could have been slightly closer location wise to the main beach in Tamarindo, however it was very nice to come back to a quiet space after going out.

The check in process was simple. The owner (Joe) reached out to me prior to my arrival with all of the check in information. The air conditioner works really well and each room has its own ac unit. The unit we stayed in was equipped with its own swimming pool, plenty of cookware and two separate showers. On the first morning we met Joe & Isabella. They made us a wonderful breakfast and couldn’t be a nicer couple. They gave us restaurant recommendations for dinner and even contacted the restaurants a made our reservations for us. My suggestion is to rent a car if you stay at this location as the main area in Tamarindo is about a 15 minute drive.

Beautiful property not too far a drive from the beach. It’s secluded from town which was idea because the noise from the strip would have no been ideal. I loved waking up to fresh banana bread every day, I loved the changing breakfast menu, I loved the hospitality of the owners, I loved the owners dogs who warmly welcomed us every morning. I did not want to leave this place. It’s a little slice of heaven in Tamarindo. I’m so glad I didn’t book a big resort and instead opted to stay here. I was genuinely so sad to leave by the end of it. No doubt I’ll be back.

Very comfortable and private room, as well as a nice pool area. Since it is a boutique hotel, there are not a lot of other guests, so it feels more private. Awesome breakfast cooked to order every day. The owners were helpful without being intrusive.

We liked everything! We chose it because we didn’t want to be in the city, but some travelers may not like having to drive into Tamarindo for meals and activities. We wanted to be somewhere more peaceful, which this property was.
