Let me say I have stayed at hotel chains, & a few motels. In maine, RI, Ct, pa, middle and Southern IN, Ky & now ohio. Make sure you look at the pictures. If you want a super duper fancy place, this isn't it. From my experience, this is a typical motel(but a little better). It's exactly what the pics show. It's comfortable, cozy, and set up to be animal friendly. This is the cleanest place I have stayed. There are no stains on the sheets or blankets or floors( which i have seen in bigger chain places). It gave us a feeling of being back on the east coast with the colors, decor, and architecture. We had the larger of "queenbed" rooms. She did show us the other queen rooms before we left. While they were smaller, I still feel they would have also have just enough room for us & our dog. So if the big one wouldn't be available, I'd still go here. The queen rooms face the bay. The beds do not face the window , they face the tv. This is because of the way the building was built. YES, It is still possible to see the bay sitting on the bed. That was the whole reason I picked this place. I miss watching the sea. As with other motels &alot of hotels meals are not provided(as stated), but she does have a variety of free snacks and drinks in the office(my boyfriend loved she has a small tea selection) oh & she puts a little baggy of dog treats in the room. There are a set of dog bowls as well. There are smart tv's, with some free internet tv apps on them. If you have Disney, Paramount, etc, on your phone, you can send it to the tv from your phone. The tv's match the room #. (If you don't want to sign in on the tv.) So there are a lot more things that can be watched than in other places I have been. Saundra did answer questions we had about the area and suggested a place to see new yrs fireworks. She is a nice lady. There is a very good restaurant next store. It says fine dining, you can go in normal clothes.

The only thing would be just a little bit brighter lights away from window.

The motel was perfect. It was so clean. Two comfortable queen beds, nice bathroom with a nice shower with lots of hot water. Very relaxing. Jonathan in the office was very helpful. There was a fridge, microwave, coffee maker. The office had water, fruits, etc for all the guests. We will definitely go back

For us, the location was convenient. It was quiet and the room was very clean. We didn't need anything, but the owner was very friendly, and I felt if we needed anything, she would assist us. Front building has a view of the bay.

This motel definitely covered the needed basics, so I am really digging for things I didn't like! I would like to see a few more places for towels to hang in the bathroom. Also, parking may not be in front of your room. It is right at the building, but there is not enough room for each guest to park in front of their room, at least in the back building.

Location was great. Bedding was clean and comfortable. Basic, but nicely decorated, old-school motel. Could use more lighting in the room. Wifi was good - no signal problems. Good water pressure and hot water in the shower. Air conditioner worked great! Enjoyed the room - had a double queen, so there was enough room for our luggage, etc. Will definitely be back for another stay.

Woman and child and her dogs next door first night. Yelling noisy child and loud barking dogs in middle of the night. Peaceful after they left. Also, the toilet seat was loose and sliding around.

Small and family-run, the Cedar Motel is a very dog-friendly motel in a very quiet bay-view corner near Sandusky. The staff are very friendly, and the location is perfect for visiting Lake Erie. Compared to other places to stay in the area, this motel's dog policies are much better. We would definitely recommend staying here if you have a pet.

The rooms and beds could be more comfortable, but the rooms are built to accommodate guests with dogs. Overall, the prices are competitive with other lake view places during tourist season.

Room was very clean. Everything in the room worked well. I liked the refrigerator. It was bigger than the standard dorm size that you usually find. The manager was very nice and responsive.

Check-in person wasn't very knowledgeable. To be fair, I had the feeling he was filling in for the front desk person. A minor inconvenience. I wish the bathroom had some counter space.

We stayed at The Cedar Motel for the total eclipse ! The stay was amazing. The Motel owner was so welcoming and made it feel like a family. We appreciated her so much. Very cool retro motel we heard was built in 1954. Very clean motel. Well maintained. The location was great for watching this event. We ate at a very nice restaurant /bar next to motel. We thank the owner for such an enjoyable stay!

I stayed with my 2 doggies at the Cedar Motel for 1 night and I wish I could have stayed longer.My host Sandra was so amazing and friendly and I enjoyed taking to her a lot.What a amazing woman.The place was very homey for a Motel,clean and quiet.The little lake town beautiful and relaxed. I hope I can come back one day and wish Sandra only the best!! Saludos Esther and the doggies

Kitschy, darling 50s-style motel! I felt transported back to happier, simpler times… the motel had all the comforts we needed, in a quiet atmosphere near water and nature. A serene experience. And the hotel manager, Saundra, was welcoming and friendly.

Pet friendly and the layout of the property is perfect for getting the dogs out quickly. Lots of room for them to run in grassy areas. The bed was comfortable and so was the room. It had everything we needed. The owner manager was excellent and super nice, excellent property. We will be back! Five stars.
