Overall, the decor throughout the property was very modern and contemporary. The music throughout the building created a positive and comfortable ambience. The AC unit in the bedroom was a bonus as we stayed during very hot weather. The location was perfect for the town. A secluded exterior area for drinks was a welcome shaded area from the sun. We would certainly stay again if visiting the area.
The breakfast experience was disappointing for us as this was not explained properly either by the waitress or the table menu, so we missed out on the unlimited fruit juice, coffee & tea. The breakfast experience created a negative for us. Not all the tables were set correctly for the number of people in the party/room. Our room number was not asked for on arrival in the dining room. Our coffees were spilt in the saucer and were not mopped up. The waitress was polite but maybe a little nervous. Staff engagement was limited to all guests. No dietary/allergy requirements were asked for when the order was taken. The main restaurant area would have been a nice area to have had breakfast in.

The hotel is very nicely appointed: really punches above its weight. The staff are engaged and engaging, which makes interaction pleasant and fulfilling. The menu in the restaurant is fairly pub-grub, but they do it well, and it's tasty. The (inclusive) breakfast is as good a cooked breakfast as I've had this year. The room and the en suite were both very clean and in excellent repair.
The place is a busy pub as well as an inn, so was playing loud music outside my window until 11.30pm. But when I went and asked, they did turn it off! And charging for a second cup of coffee at breakfast does raise an eyebrow.

The whole building had a very stylish design. We booked a table in the restaurant and then decided to book a room as well. The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. The food was amazing, as someone who is dairy free I was excited to see the vegan options available. The sticky toffee pudding was delicious. The room itself was clean, with the modern design continuing. Bathroom was supplied with shampoo, body wash, hand wash and moisturiser. The bed was comfortable. Overall a wonderful stay, we will definitely return.
The property could do with more parking although we understand in a small town there isn’t always room.

Ideal location in the centre of Harleston. We received a friendly and efficient welcome and were in our room quickly. The room was just as we expected. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom. We had an evening meal in the hotel and we and two quests all enjoyed our food. Breakfast was served to our order rather than a buffet. It was served quickly and was good. All the staff were friendly and helpful
We had problem with the room temperature, the radiator was on and it was a very warm day. The staff did try to sort it out and there was air conditioning in the room but it was noisy so we couldn’t keep it on during the night. We were only staying one night.

When we arrived we were greeted by a very nice receptionist. The decor as you walk in is superb and classy, as was the room we were in. Unfortunately the toilet would not flush due to a faulty mechanism and as there were three of us (we were staying with our 17 year old son), the hotel changed us into two double rooms. It was very kind of them and one of the rooms, room 9, had a lovely bath. The rooms are decorated in lovely colour schemes and very clean. The beds are really comfortable. The location is great for visiting this small market town which has a few small shops and a couple of restaurants and lovely old cottages. We ate in the restaurant and the food was of a very good standard and the staff were lovely and polite. The breakfast the next morning was excellent too.
Unfortunately the shower wasn't hot and more like tepid in one of the rooms; however the bath in number 9 was gorgeously hot and very comfortable.

Everything was great , really friendly and professional staff, food was great, room and en-suite were perfect and nice and clean , the only thing I could possibly pick at was the road noise , but the room was right on the market square with the main road going past, so if I stayed again I would request a rear room, having said that the veiw in the morning of the market square was really nice, after 10pm it was really quiet and about 7am the town is waking , all in all would 100% stay again 👍

An excellent first visit. Very friendly staff, a lovely small room. We booked the small and it was exactly as we had expected and just what we wanted. It was spotlessly clean, easy to get to and the AC was an added bonus on a very hot July evening. Breakfast was really good and didn't take long to come from ordering. The location is really nice. We had a very enjoyable walk around Harleston, there are several shops and other pubs as well as a Co-op. The staff work really hard here, they are always busy doing something and we noticed in the morning, one staff member was even sifting through the gravel outside to remove any small piceces of litter or cigarettes. The attention to detail is very impressive here. I have got a lot of appreciation for the hard working staff as they really make the experience what it is and they deserve some recognition for their hard work and positive atitudes. I would not hesitate in coming back if I am in the area again. Thanks for a really nice time.
Nothing, it was a really enjoyable visit.

We've stayed at J.D's on many occasions and for us it is the perfect stopover. We have probably stayed in all the rooms now and they are all beautifully decorated, always immaculate. In the winter warm and cosy and in the summer cool with either a fan or air con. Big fluffy towels, good showers & comfy beds. The restaurant is beautiful and the bar area has a real fire. Breakfast is fab with a great selection to choose from on the menu. The staff are lovely and friendly and do everything to ensure we have a good stay.
Nothing,

The bed was comfortable, the decor pleasant. The staff were all incredibly helpful and friendly. The restaurant area is as lovely as it looks in the photos, We enjoyed sitting on the comfy sofas under the trees having a drink after a day out sightseeing. Breakfast was delicious and a good choice of dishes available, and we enjoyed food from the restaurant a couple of times during our stay.
We visited in April and found the room was too warm, as the heating kept coming on and you were unable to turn the heating off as radiators boxed in. Our room also didn’t have air conditioning which was disappointing and the Dyson fan provided was ineffective at cooling the room. Our room was also located above the downstairs bar main door which didn’t have a soft closure so every time someone went in and out of the door it banged! As a popular venue it banged a lot.

Clean and comfortable hotel. Beautiful room (room 6) overlooking the town square. Comfortable bed and lovely facilities in the room. There are plenty of options for making hot drinks, with tea, coffee, and chocolate sachets. Large screen TV. En-suit facilities are very clean and well presented. Fresh fluffy towelling.
The room was rather warm. It was fine for us, but friends also staying remarked that their room was too warm for comfortable sleeping. There was no visible means to adjust the temperature.
