Staff were great, very polite and helpful. Food was amazing. Wedding organisation and venue was brilliant.

This hotel always holds a special place for us as we got married here 12 years ago, the room was decorated with a card and chocolates which was a lovely touch the staff are very helpful and friendly we love the rooms and the settings it’s such a beautiful venue and the Christmas decorations are always is pretty food in the sports bar was so nice and so was the breakfast

We went to use the pool and it was at full capacity which was very disappointing and there were lots of people already on standby waiting to enter so we would never have got to go in, and the room was very very warm there was a fan in there but no air con

The room was lovely, the bed was very comfortable. Plenty of space and storage. Spa treatment was amazing, staff were friendly and very skilled at the spa. The food was really nice and reasonably priced.

The spa needed a little dust, noticed quite thick dust in a few areas. The young female staff at the wellness centre was so unwelcoming, really had a face on her and an attitude. Such a shame that when purchasing a spa treatment and staying in the hotel that the robe/slippers weren't included. The spa is so far away from the wellness centre you really need that robe to go between the two. Considering how much you spend on the room and treatments you'd think you'd get a robe at least. I would return as we really enjoyed the meal and had a lovely night in the Atrium bar. The two young guys working behind the bar were so refreshing and fun.

Nothing everything was exceptional

Stayed at the Old Thorns having attended a Christmas Gala event held at the hotel. Great location just off A3 but in a rural setting. Warm welcome, clean, no frills room with good shower over bath. Good facilities for event with bar for drinks reception, 'ballroom' with stage and dancefloor, good service and food. Buffet breakfast - essential to help soak up the alcohol - very good.

Hotel complex is simply so vast it does tend to lack the personal touch - as per the standard (but nothing wrong with it) decor in the rooms.

None of the hairdryers worked which wasn’t ideal with 5 girls getting ready

The venue was beautiful. The decoration was beautiful. However, in the rooms it could’ve had Aircon being so modern.

On the website when we booked we wasn’t told that you had to book 48 hours in advance for attending the restaurant for afternoon tea which was disappointing as trying to book for my friends birthday having to leave the complex and going into Portsmouth for that Very birthday celebration For the price we paid everything should’ve been under one roof so that was very disappointing. Also the spa was lovely however some of the facilities didn’t seem to work straight away but once it did it was nice. The receptionist in the swimming pool area were very lovely and helpful. Needed more people like that around the hotel. Well done to the swimming pool staff.

Love the apartments. We always struggle to find accommodation for 3 of us. This is ideal

The spa could just do with a clean in places and some fresher smells. Smelt a bit aquatic in the changing rooms. A few diffusers would make a difference.

Buffet breakfast was comprehensive and kept well stocked. Dining during the day/evening was available at the Sports Bar (brasserie style food) or the Kings Head restaurant. Both had good menus and available seating despite being very busy. There was also a good coffee shop available which was very useful.

There were weddings coinciding with our stay which on some occasions made the Sports Bar very noisy but lively. Not really a serious problem
