Excellent Location: This hotel boasts an unbeatable location right next to train stations, making it incredibly convenient for getting around. Spacious Rooms: The rooms were surprisingly spacious, offering plenty of room to relax and unwind. Wonderful Staff: The hotel staff were fantastic – very friendly, helpful, and accommodating throughout my stay. Good Breakfast: The breakfast offered a good variety and was a pleasant way to start the day.

Paid Parking: Parking is available but comes with a fee. Remember to ask the hotel reception for a discount, as it's not automatically applied. Car Travel Can Be Tricky: While great for public transport, navigating by car can be a bit cumbersome if you plan on driving frequently.

The room was a decent size and the proximity to cafes and the train stations, excellent. Staff were exceptional and accommodated our various requests. We drove a hire car and parking was ample. Parking was an additional ¥500 a day but that was expected. Breakfast was thrown in for hotel guests and was completely adequate. The hotel also runs a free shuttle bus service to its sister hotel which has a choice of western style restaurants if the hotel's Japanese restaurant is not for you. There is also an outdoor onsen to relax those tired muscles after checking out the local and surrounding attractions. Overall, no complaints from me. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Hotel is just opposite the Nikko station, which is very convenient if you are visiting Utsunomiya or come from Utsunomiya. You can take the buses from this station too. It is about 3mins walk from Tobu Nikko station if you are taking a limited express train from Asakusa.

There's no shops or restaurants near the hotel. It is so quiet after 6pm, not many people will walk past this hotel in the evening (maybe cause we were there in July, not peak season). The nearest restaurants and stores are near the Tobu Nikko station and they closed very early, around 5.30pm. Have to walk further down (about 10mins) then you can find a restaurant for dinner. Been to the onsen thrice but never see anyone inside...haha. have the whole onsen to myself. Simple breakfast is included but they served the same food every morning when we were there for 4 nights.

This has a great location - opposite the JR station and right in the centre of Nikko town so you’re very close to shops , restaurants and cafes . I thought the rooms were great value for money as they were a decent size and had a bath with Shiseido shower gel/Shampoo & conditioner ( which I really appreciate after a long day of walking ) . The beds are firm ( love that too) so I slept well in the quiet rooms . The hotel also has a very nice onsen with a good sized rotenburo ( open air bath) which was nicer in many of the fancier hotels I’ve stayed in . The hotel has quite a retro air which I quite like as I’m not keen on hotels rooms in shades of black and grey . There’s a fridge & in the room . Rooms come with a yukata , there is plenty of skincare amenities ( cleansing oil , toner etc , lotion ) near the front desk perfect for when you want to travel light and don’t want to lug a ton of products for an overnight stay . Staff are helpful

Only thing I wasn’t keen on was the breakfast but it was free and I am quite picky so really it was a minor thing .

Location was excellent for a weary traveller getting off the train and not wanting to go to far. The tourist bus stop is also across the road. The rooms were clean and comfy, the hotel itself has a lovely charm and the staff lovely. The onsen is a great bonus.

I think the breakfast offerings need to be rearranged into more sensible sets of items. Something warm and savoury to eat other than curry would also be nice. Otherwise, breakfast was definitely enough to keep you going for all the tourist walking.

The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, and they had someone at the desk who spoke great English (which I never expect, but it does make certain things easier!). They were able to store our luggage for us for a few hours since we initially arrived too early to check-in which was great as it allowed us to go do some sightseeing without our heavy backpacks. We had dinner in the on-site restaurant and it was pretty good (the chef and the waitress were both super friendly as well). I absolutely love that their hot spring is tattoo-friendly! It was so nice to be able to take a bath after a long, cold day. The location is great, too - literally across the street from the JR station and sightseeing bus stop. The whole facility was extremely clean and well-kept despite being a little dated in style. The free breakfast was good, lots of variety, and the breakfast area itself is a pretty place. Free coffee and tea in the lounge was a nice touch. There's a bar on the second floor, too, but we didn't go there. Pretty views of the mountains as well.

Dinner was a little pricey, but that's honestly to be expected in a hotel restaurant.

The hotel was great value for money and is in a super convenient location. We wanted to be close to transport, arriving by the Tobu train line on our first day and departing from the JR train station at the end of our stay. The hotel was an easy walk between the two stations. Furthermore, the buses to Lake Chuzenji depart directly across the road from the hotel, outside the JR station. This was important for our early morning bus departure to the lake area. Staff were helpful and check in was smooth. Our room was huge by Japanese standards. We were allocated a corner room on the top floor which we loved as we were able to enjoy the lovely view of the mountains from two windows.

Nikko Station Hotel Classic is well situated near transportation such as bus or trains, a super market and there is a plethora of places to eat within a 15 - 20 minute walk. It’s also very easy to catch a bus if you are not much of a walker for those restaurants towards the tourist sights as the bus stop it is literally two minutes from the hotel. Just be aware that despite Nikko being a huge tourist town it is still rural Japan and most places to eat close very, very early by western standards. The staff were very welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable in their treatment of guests. Rooms were clean and beds were clean. Would I stay here again if visiting Nikko? Yes I would.

It's important to have some perspective when rating this property. If you spent the entirety of your trip staying at flagship Marriott/Hilton in major metropolitan areas, you're going to have a bad time if you compare this location to those properties. That being said, for what it is, it's terrific for exploring Nikko. Our favorite part was the location; it's right off the Tobu and JR stations. Furthermore, it's right next to the bus stop for the world heritage site and Lake Chuzenji, making it extremely easy to get around. The staff was very friendly and spoke excellent English. Additionally, the breakfast was much more than we anticipated it to be and was very tasty (still a continental breakfast though).

It's not the most modern accommodations, and the beds were the smallest and most uncomfortable on our entire trip. That being said, we still slept well enough. We found one too many stray, long black hairs on the floor in our room though...(no one in our party has long black hair).

The location is very good if arriving and departing from the Nikko station opposite the hotel. For an overnight stay, in our case, this proved very convenient. There is a second station just a few minutes' walk away, that connects more directly with Tokyo. If visitors use this station, it's still very convenient for Nikko Station Hotel Classic. Staff were extremely attentive and helpful. At the reception and in the dining room, communication in English was easy. The breakfast was adequate and nicely prepared. In the room the beds were comfortable. Shower was fine. Wifi was satisfactory with a password. The lobby is welcoming with coffee etc. Staff stored our luggage on arrival before check-in time and also after the 10am checkout before we left Nikko in the afternoon. There are frequent buses travelling from Nikko station across the road to various popular tourist sites.

The hotel is rather tired after doing many years of good service. The lobby areas are clean and welcoming but carpets in the upstairs hallways show stains although otherwise cleaned well. The room was just adequate in terms of size and layout but this is not uncommon in some busy places from tourist areas in the Far East to Scandinavia. There is an onsen with indoor and outdoor pools. No drinking water seemed available for those using the onsen except in vending machines outside the facility. Lockers were extremely tiny. Nikko is a hugely popular destination so that the price for the room may seem rather high for what is provided but other accommodation in the area commands a great premium too.
