The staff in reception and the restaurant were all very friendly. The evening meal was very tasty, (we had the ribs and the fillet steak) The grounds had a variety of interesting birdlife and would have been lovely in spring/summer. Within walking distance of The Hepworth Art Gallery (20/25 mins) which was our main reason for staying.

The breakfast was a bit underwhelming, the fruit selection was poor and there was no coffee machine or boiling water for tea.(just hot in an insulated jug) Eggs were poached nicely though. It was quite a trek up the the second floor with no lift. The top car park was many steps too.

The room was perfect, a nice big comfortable bed, with extra pillows if needed already in the room along with an individual iron & ironing board. The staff were very welcoming, both in the hotel and attached pub (for anyone worrying there was no noise overspill, although it’d be fair to note that there was an events marquee adjacent for wedding and the like, which wasn’t being used when I stayed. The breakfast was excellent! I didn’t used the pub/restaurant but the menu looked good.

No negative as such, I was pleasantly surprised to find a bath with shower over, both of which I used. However I feel there should have been an anti-slip bathmat and possibly a grab handle too. I was perfectly fine but a less able guest might not be.

A warm welcome. Our room was as described. Everything you need for a comfortable stay is provided including extra pillows. The bathroom comes provided with shampoo and body wash, like the hand wash, it is made from natural ingredients. The hotel is placed near to the main building and marquee, with a weekend full of celebrations you might expect to hear some noise, be assured there is none. Housekeeping provide an excellent service. It is a short journey to the restaurant, everywhere is accessible. We were greeted by our breakfast host each morning. There is an excellent choice of breakfast, a mix of continental and cooked. Extremely good value and choice. You would not have known there was a wedding reception from the night before, everything was cleared away and preparing for its next celebration. The restaurant has a good range of choices for both lunch and dinner. There is also a good choice of morning coffee and cake. There is an amazing team of friendly staff that work hard to make your stay the very best possible.

The level access bathroom, walk in shower, I feel is lacking a grab rail along by the toilet and sink. There is a tall box, maybe boxing in pipes ? It is not really suited to hold or lean onto, if there could be away of safely adding a grab rail it would be helpful and useful.

The Holmfield Arms is a very cozy and stylish hotel, with an amazing atmosphere, especially during the Christmas period. We were greeted warmly and with excellent manners before being shown to our room. Although there was a small issue with the room, we reported it to a staff member, and the problem was resolved quickly. To compensate, we were kindly offered free drinks to enjoy. Later, the lovely receptionist learned that the restaurant we had booked for my son’s birthday dinner was permanently closed. As an apology for the earlier inconvenience, she generously offered us a complimentary dinner at the hotel. The entire experience was extremely pleasant—the staff were amazing, and the breakfast was hot and delicious. I also want to mention that the prices were very reasonable. I would highly recommend the Holmfield Arms Hotel for a stay. Thank you for such a wonderful experience!

We liked everything.

The breakfast was pretty good except that when I ordered three items I got six which I struggled to eat and it causes waste food. The room was better than expected, very clean and quiet. Staff were all very pleasant but there was obviously not enough as they seemed rushed.

The food was OK, I enjoyed the first night but on the second night I ordered a steak and ale pie. it tasted ok, pastry was quite good, gravy nice but the quality and quantity of meat inside was disgraceful. Third night I had steak which was OK, I've had better rib eye for the same price elswhere. Some herbal tea in the room would have been good for a late night drink. I found the restaurant very dark and struggled to read the menu.

Really nice stay, we were in the area for a U16s National Rugby quarter final and needed somewhere to stay close to the ground. Only booked the day of our stay, and were pleased with our choice. The family room was a good size for the three of us, the bathroom was modern - a little cool but nice size and decor. Great to see eco friendly vegan toiletries. Our room #12 was situated on the ground floor of the hotel, at the far end of the building so it was very quiet. Which was great, brilliant night sleep We had our evening meal at the adjoining pub, it was busy when we got there and managed to get a table quickly. Although a separate entity the pub also provided breakfast - £10 hot breakfast, the vegan option was pretty okay although missed one food item. We liked the fact that we could also have the continental breakfast options too as part of the price which made it exceptional good value. The kids loved it. Overall a nice modern room and hotel that was priced at £100 for a family room, plus £10pp for breakfast.

When we arrived in the evening our room was cold. So we quickly took the chill out of the air by switching the wall mounted radiator on and whacking it up high. It would have been nice to have had the room warmed through before we arrived as we did provide our arrival time. But wasn’t too much of a problem.

The hotel is in a wonderful location, set back from the busy town of Wakefield. The rooms where spacious and clean and the hotel was stunning with a great variety of drinks. The only down side would be that the staff where not very welcoming or happy. Yes it was busy but it doesn't excuse your politeness through ours or others stay, this was only in the bar/restaurant area. Also the food was ok, nothing special. Overall the location, the stay and the cleanliness of the hotel was perfect.

The room was clean generally but there was quite a lot of dust around the bedside light. Lovely to have a bath, and well stocked in terms of bath soap, towels etc.

It was such a shame to be woken by the fire alarm at 2.30am, and whilst it seemed hardly anyone vacated, the reception manager checked the source and advised it was safe to go back to the room. Disruptive though, obviously. Dinner was lovely ( I had the grilled salmon, but the table where I was, was so dark I couldn't read the menu, (or really see my food) without my phone torch. Breakfast good.

The room was amazing, clean, comfortable. Only downside was there was only 2 coffee sachets, 4 would have been better for 2 people (1 when they arrive and 1 in the morning) but it was easy enough to get more from Reception. Reception staff were nice and friendly.

We were attending an event that had been booked for a while, a surprise birthday and there seemed to be low or no stock of some drinks. I would expect to run out in a function bar, but not the main bar on a Saturday. It was the only disappointing thing.

Lovely location. Friendly and helpful staff. Rooms nice and clean. I booked rooms near each other but when we arrived all rooms were on 2nd floor, Dad has a heart condition so stairs are not something he can cope with, the staff were great they arranged for him to have a ground floor room which was very helpful.

Breakfast wasn't awful but it could have been better, food was all a bit bland and all very pale, only the beans were hot, everything else was on the cold side. A little bit of colour on the sausages and bacon would have been nice.
