My sister and her daughter came from Canada and I booked them into the hotel for three nights at the end of their coach tour of Britain. My sister had known Holmfield House during her childhood in Wakefield, so the park and the house had fond memories for her. During their coach tour they stayed in several hotels, but she said Holmfield Arms was the nicest with its character and atmosphere. They are back in Canada now and I spoke to her today. I told her I had an e-mail to rate their experience. She praised it in every way. They had loved everything about staying there.

No complaints whatsoever.

From the moment we arrived to the point of our departure, the staff could not have been more welcoming and helpful. The breakfast staff in particular were constantly active and on their toes, missing nothing to make guests welcome and comfortable. The hotel offers an excellent breakfast, the rooms are warm and comfortable. They make a good cappuccino and 2 for £5.90 was a lot less than we have paid at other places. We liked the decor, and there was plenty of hot water. There is plenty of parking and the hotel is well situated for visiting surrounding towns and villages. Some awesome landscapes round about.

For us, we can't stand the plastic milk pouches that don't hold enough milk and have a tendency to splatter all over when trying to open them but we managed to surpass the annoyance with our own coffee creamer.

Great location, close to a daytime event we were attending in Wakefield on Saturday 11th Oct. Flexible check in which enabled our friend to check in later in the evening. Rooms comfortable and clean, breakfast good value with lots of choice. Lots of car parking available and friendly, helpful staff.

We noticed the menus available in the breakfast room and restaurant were not consistent with the menus in the rooms which caused a bit of confusion when choosing our food at the table. We feel they need to be updated to ensure guests receive the correct information. The fire alarm sounded at 7.15am on Sunday 12th Oct but we received no explanation or apology which we would have appreciated.

The breakfast was included in our room price . The food was nice we ate there both evenings. There was plenty of parking and it wasn't near the road .

There is a marquee at the back that is used for weddings and other occasions. We were in room 37 at that side of the building and music was loud till 11pm on Saturday and 8pm on Sunday . We complained and was told they could change our room but as it was our last night we didn't bother . If they had rooms away from the noise why not put people in those rooms first instead of where there will be loud music .

Breakfast was good, nice range of food. Would have enjoyed porridge but not something they offer. The bed was very comfortable, and the bathroom bright and fresh. I went for an early morning walk around the park it's sited in, it was lovely, lots of birdlife and some amazing views of the city and the countryside beyond from the top of the hill. I was worried it might be noisy at night, as it is a popular restaurant / pub and has an events marquee for weddings and the like, but it was really quiet. Lovely place to stay.

Nothing we didn't like, really, but it would have been useful to have had an EV charger available, There were other electric vehicles in the car park, so I suspect they would be well used. The locally available chargers were awkward to access, particularly because I wasn't familiar with the town centre and there were some diversions. The one I eventually found was by the Cineworld complex, which at least had a Costa, but it would have been very helpful to us to charge on site and taken advantage of the hotel facilities or gone for a walk in the lovely park while plugged in.

The vast majority, ease of access, friendly staff and a very comfortable room. The breakfast was very much enjoyed by my better half.

The lack of options for a Gluten Free breakfast, when you're told there isn't any sausages, black pudding, hash browns or beans you can have is disappointing. The remaining items were GF toast, which is better to not have due to the poor taost of most GF breads, mushrooms and tomatoes which I'm not a fan of, so that left me with two rashers of bacon and two fried eggs. Considering the price of the room and I wasn't offered more bacon I thought one of the breakfasts would have been refunded.

The staff were amazing friendly professional obliging . Food was excellent both in choice and price .kids menu perfect even for our fussy autistic child and they obliged our requests with no issues .location perfect lovely woodland nearby retail and train station .we would 100% return and highly recommend

Struggling to think of anything really .room perfect beds really comfortable. Checking in. and times realistic .if really pushed i could not have an Irish or any other liqueur coffee that would be the only tiny thing I can think of...

The room was perfect, a nice big comfortable bed, with extra pillows if needed already in the room along with an individual iron & ironing board. The staff were very welcoming, both in the hotel and attached pub (for anyone worrying there was no noise overspill, although it’d be fair to note that there was an events marquee adjacent for wedding and the like, which wasn’t being used when I stayed. The breakfast was excellent! I didn’t used the pub/restaurant but the menu looked good.

No negative as such, I was pleasantly surprised to find a bath with shower over, both of which I used. However I feel there should have been an anti-slip bathmat and possibly a grab handle too. I was perfectly fine but a less able guest might not be.

The staff in reception and the restaurant were all very friendly. The evening meal was very tasty, (we had the ribs and the fillet steak) The grounds had a variety of interesting birdlife and would have been lovely in spring/summer. Within walking distance of The Hepworth Art Gallery (20/25 mins) which was our main reason for staying.

The breakfast was a bit underwhelming, the fruit selection was poor and there was no coffee machine or boiling water for tea.(just hot in an insulated jug) Eggs were poached nicely though. It was quite a trek up the the second floor with no lift. The top car park was many steps too.

A warm welcome. Our room was as described. Everything you need for a comfortable stay is provided including extra pillows. The bathroom comes provided with shampoo and body wash, like the hand wash, it is made from natural ingredients. The hotel is placed near to the main building and marquee, with a weekend full of celebrations you might expect to hear some noise, be assured there is none. Housekeeping provide an excellent service. It is a short journey to the restaurant, everywhere is accessible. We were greeted by our breakfast host each morning. There is an excellent choice of breakfast, a mix of continental and cooked. Extremely good value and choice. You would not have known there was a wedding reception from the night before, everything was cleared away and preparing for its next celebration. The restaurant has a good range of choices for both lunch and dinner. There is also a good choice of morning coffee and cake. There is an amazing team of friendly staff that work hard to make your stay the very best possible.

The level access bathroom, walk in shower, I feel is lacking a grab rail along by the toilet and sink. There is a tall box, maybe boxing in pipes ? It is not really suited to hold or lean onto, if there could be away of safely adding a grab rail it would be helpful and useful.
