Good size superior room. Clean. Comfortable bed. Good facilities. Good food.

We used the restaurant once during our stay for our evening meal. Service wasn't good. There were two large groups that came in after our first course was served. We then seemed to be ignored. Had a considerable wait to order our next course and were attended to after beckoning the staff over to our table. The restaurant was extremely noisy so we opted to have our sweet course outside. Staff insisted that I pay my bill before going outside! Management blamed the poor service on shortage of staff.

From the check-in (we were very late) they were so friendly. Dan made us feel very welcome & nothing too much trouble. The room was gorgeous. Massive bed with beautiful bedding & a modern spacious bathroom with a fantastic shower. We booked this last minute after a long drive & ferry from Ireland & now want to go back here for a holiday sometime as it was so good & right beside Wales largest natural lake - omg so busy there with loads of water sports ❤️

My partner hit his head on the low door frame in the bathroom - could do with a sign on door - room 6 - may have knocked some sense into him tho !

Hotel was clean , quiet , fixtures and fittings very nice . Bed comfy , room had everything you need , plenty of tea / coffee / milk / sugar etc , not the usual " one cup " affair , the condiments were fair trade also which was good to see . The staff were attentive and polite .The food was superb , I had the ribeye steak for my evening meal and can honestly say it was one of the best cooked steaks i've ever had , cooked medium as requested , melt in the mouth ! And i was able to organise a packed lunch for me to take with me on checkout day for my hike . All positive , would definitely stay their again , and definitely recommend to others .

Minor point , a little bit of road noise early in the evening as the windows were period windows , secondary glazing might help, but it wasn't intrusive and caused no loss of sleep etc

Arrived in time for dinner - food was very nice, good quality ingredients and one of the best burgers I've had in a while. Whilst the restaurant was busy, the staff were very attentive, asking all the right questions, taking orders in good time and following up, checking we had everything we needed. The Room was a good size, huge bed and very comfortable - the bathroom was modern and clean with a huge shower. All in all, a very good place and would definitely return.

nothing negative to report.

The hotel was right in the centre of town and our parking space was clearly labelled/reserved (which was really helpful). The staff were welcoming and all very friendly and helpful. Breakfasts were excellent and with a good variety of choices - portions were huge! We ate in the restaurant on our first evening also and the meals there were also very nice. It was a nice touch to have a small bottle of wine left for us in our room on arrival and the room was cleaned and tidied every day with new towels provided and coffee etc supplies topped up. The hotel/room was quiet.

Personally I found the bed rather hard but accept that this is personal preference to some extent. The furnishings were also a little "style over substance". There was no full length mirror and actually the level of the one on the dresser was difficult to use. The extractor fan in the bathroom was pitiful, the door of the bathroom also obstructed it rather and meant that even to wash hands you really needed to close the door. The rainfall style shower was good but the second head was dangling and could not be directed, so if you didn't want to wash your hair you were out of luck.

Rooms were great for me and the kids, we had one of the upper floor rooms. Decor was nice and everything was clean and tidy. Dinner was nice put grub, good atmosphere and the kids enjoyed it. Breakfast had a good selection and quick service. Bala is a good gateway to North and West Wales, town has plenty to see and do, the lake is 10 mins walk with kids. Room has a passkey and so does the front door which makes things easier. Great shower in room 7!

Not that we watched a huge amount of TV, but the bracket needs changing so you can swivel it (having said that, we didn’t try to move it). For the kids it was a little noisy in town (live band at a local pub) however it was very quiet by 1030. As we had a bit of a heatwave we had the windows open probably made the noise worse - so whilst it’s sort of a negative, there was nothing that the hotel did wrong.

We only live just over an hour away from Bala and was attending an an open day on a farm just outside the town, we chose Plas y Dre as we did not want to drive home late and were lucky a room was a available, we had a lovely comfortable clean room with a huge shower in the ensuite comfy bed and it was lovely and warm. Nice choice of breakfast my scrambled eggs on toast was cooked really nice and my husbands full English the same, we had a very pleasant young man serving us he is a credit to the hotel, would be very happy to stay again.

Everything great

Excellent and helpful staff, friendly and approachable. Lovely location in Bala, easy walk to the lake. Large room with all the usual facilities well presented to a high standard. We arrived quite late and we're still greeted with a smile and a genuine welcome. Just sorry we were too late to have an evening meal, the Wellington sounded appealing 😁

A little noise from the neighbouring room but not too intrusive and in no way spoiled the experience.,

Delightful stay, great location in centre of town, very friendly staff at check in, good car parking, we had a superior room which was comfortable and reasonably priced but the best thing was dinner which was excellent. Top tip - you must book dinner separately when booking room - we wouldn’t have got a table otherwise as this is a destination restaurant

The room was a good size and both comfy and clean. There was a good choice for breakfast and the Welsh breakfast was delicious. However, the choice of bread slightly let the meals down, although this is only a small point and more feedback to the hotel, rather than detracting from the overall quality of our stay. Finally the hotel is situated n the middle of Bala, so everything within a short stroll. We had two evening meals in the hotel, which were both fabulous, especially the Sunday lunch.

Just the quality and choice of the breads.
