Beautiful grounds, stunning location Friendly staff Quality and execution of dinner was fabulous Pets allowed in lake house rooms Irish sky garden was amazing, very zen. So different

Stayed in the lake house, communal areas in lake house not upto standard / music system not working. No honesty bar / soft drinks. Sink in communal toilet area was oily & dirty, felt grubby. Breakfast service was understaffed, breakfast food was under welcoming, nothing special Could do more to make the hotel more pet friendly. Water spots, pets allowed in bar area. Breakfast on designated area with pets Didn’t like walking through the very sloppy and dimly lit wood late at night to get from the Manor House to the lake house. Hotel should proactively offer a lift to the room in golf buggy. We got lost! Probably the glass of wine didn’t help! Pathways are very natural, but someone is going to trip, stumble and injure themselves

A lovely, smart hotel in a most beautiful location. We loved walking the extensive grounds, full of bluebells and birdsong with lots of secret spots unfolding, visiting the Irish Sky Garden and kayaking on the lake. The service was excellent, everything one could want in the bathroom and supplies constantly replenished by friendly staff. We only had one breakfast but that was excellent. Overall felt very spoilt.

It was lovely to be brought fresh milk whenever requested, however, it would be nice if it was in the room ready for whenever one felt like a tea or coffee. The outside seating area was a nice little bonus, but it was not secluded.

Excellent peaceful location for sections of The Wild Atlantic Way. Our Garden Room was small but adequate and comfortable to return to after a day’s driving.

A few niggles - stain on ceiling and light not working above bed (maintenance issue), window did not close properly (security issue), trendy 4 poster bed obscured clear view of TV (interior design issue). It was my husband’s 70th birthday during our stay. This was not acknowledged by the hotel and I had to chase the whereabouts of the celebratory bottle of Champagne pre-ordered and paid for by my children (management issue).

Beautiful grounds, charming buildings, lovely lounging spaces. Everything is pristine, warm & tranquil. But not precious, so you feel completely comfortable lounging around. Board games, tons of books, TVs, so great opportunities for family to sit & relax together. Didn't have dinner here, as had other plans, but judging by the superb breakfasts, you'd be delighted. Reasonable prices at the bar too. We stayed in the lake house, a bit removed from main house. Ten rooms. Two sitting rooms, with loads of comfy seating, games, TV etc. One full kitchen, with table. A conservatory. A patio. Find someone to rent the other rooms & have a lake house weekend together!

Had a good think about this. Couldn't find an answer. If I had to say something, I'd say: get someone to sand down & repaint the outdoor furniture on the patio at the Lake House. And railings etc around the utility building there. That looks a bit neglected, & at odds with everything else.

The hotel was fabulous. Lots on offer in terms of activities such as row boats, kayaking etc and a sauna for a small fee. The hotel itself is one house however there is a lake house about a 5 min drive away which is accessible via car or in the golf carts provided by the hotel. It was a great stay . The dinner was lovely however the bar afterwards was lacking atmosphere. Maybe a little background music would help. The staff were so helpful and friendly. And I love that the hotel is dog friendly and has such a focus on using their own produce. Overall A lovely Stay.

The staff couldn't do enough for us. They were very helpful throughout our stay. We ate at the restaurant for our lunch and dinner and it was absolutely fantastic. The menu, flavours, and presentation were just perfect. The chef and his team really hit the right note. We did not expect it at all, which made it all the more enjoyable. The grounds and the setting is so relaxing. We strolled around all weekend and the weather topped it off. There is lots of paths to explore. We booked the sauna on the day we left and it was great. Such a relaxing setting.

Breakfast was a little expensive for what you got. Some complementary tea /coffee and bread or fruit would be nice

Gorgeous, bright and well appointed period property! Lots of character! The staff were amazing and the food was absolutely exceptional! We stayed in the lake house which is lovely and quiet with views to the lake. A real gorgeous retreat! I will caveat that in the dead of winter you need to drive from the lake house to the main house for dinner as the path isn’t lit between the two. A suggested improvement would be to either light the path or offer a shuttle service to guests staying in the lake house to collect them and bring them for dinner to the main house. Having said that if you stay in the main house that would not be an issue and honestly the property itself is stunning, the grounds are beautiful, there are lovely walks and James Turrell’s Sky garden is well worth a visit! Our over-all experience we had was delightful! Definitely would love to come back and stay for longer than 1 night!

The estate was beautiful and the grounds around it. Very relaxing but a lot of uphill, although there are trails here and there to take you back to the manor house. We stayed at Lake House, this building was a bit far by foot if you have to walk in the dark but signs were wellplaced. The tiny gym was okay overlooking the lake, very relaxing view even while "running". Everything is locally produced or bought from nearby farms so very fresh produce. The staff were amazing, answering all my questions and never a problem with dietary issues from my side (being lactose intolerant). One of the waitresses from dinner even ran out to the garden to get fresh mint for me when my tummy was upset. Rooms were big in size and bathroom was huge with a big shower and bathtub, spotless at arrival.

The breakfast was just a few items that you have to order every morning and not much variety. The dinner menu changes every week but if you are staying that one week then it's just the few to choose from (food was magnificent in flavor though). The rooms are not sound proof unfortunately, could hear everything outside and if movement at night, I can hear conversations in the rooms next to ours. Skibbereen town was very cute, worth a look BUT when drivning to the estate, don't do the same mistake as us and take the small roads - The GPS map will show "L" something, just try and stay on the bigger road N71.

Breakfast choice excellent. Location fantastic for visiting nearby relatives

You need to be fairly fit to stay at the Lake Hhouse as parking is away from property and is quite a climb up from car park . No safe. No kettle for tea drinkers and had to ask for milk which went off quickly . Thought there would be a few more luxuries for a high end hotel.

The room was very comfortable with a bath and separate shower. We stayed in the lake house which was a lovely short drive from the manor house. We had a lovely dinner in the restaurant and enjoyed playing board games and listening to vinyls while having some cocktails. Very helpful staff gave us a lift back to the lake house on a golf cart which was great fun 😄😄

The path from the lake house to the Manor House wasn't lit all the way but that may have been due to the storm the night before.
