The hotel staff were very kind and helpful. We went before most of the nearby facilities were open for the season but the staff went out of the way to bring us to the ski school and the onsen. They also informed us of the stopping of train service due to the heavy snow when we were about to leave for the train station and sent us to a nearby bus stop to catch a bus to Nagano instead. our holiday would have been ruined if not for the help of Sakura San and Ms Anisu (I hope I got the name correct). Thank you so much!

The staff were so friendly, they welcomed us, helped us up to our room and made sure we knew where we we going. Jun (?) on the front desk even helped us book our transport for the end of our stay. The kitchen staff were always welcoming and happy to say hello and talk about where they snowboard. The breakfast was a variety, but I loved the continental selection.

It was a bit of a walk to hire shop, but in hindsight, we would have been better to go to the Plaza and hire from there. So other than that, just getting to the snow, if you don’t have your own transport, you are beholden to the bus timetable. This worked fine for us.

The best thing about this property is definitely all the staffs which made our stay very welcoming. After making the reservation, they provided a lot of relevant information like the pickup service, discounted ski pass and rentals etc. And they provided extra information along the way around the public transportation for getting to the area. When we arrived, there were staffs fluent in English where they explained everything that we need to know very clearly which made it easy to prepare ourselves for our skiing. There was free shuttle bus service right outside of the hotel which could take us to the Goryu resort and the drying room to leave our gears was also nice. At the end, they also offered drop off service at our bus stop. Room was spacious and clean, breakfast also had a bit of variations throughout our 5 days stay at the hotel.

The walls between rooms are a bit thin so you might hear noise from your neighbours and people walking outside the corridor, washing machine didn’t look clean so we didn’t want to use it.

Very accommodating staff. Transport: They offered transport to and from bus stations when I checked-in and checked out. There was a shuttle bus that stopped at the hotel to take you to the ski resort. It was a short walk to the ski resort. Breakfast: Many options given and ability to go up for more food. Staff: All staff were very nice and even went out of their way to mail me my wallet after I left it at the hotel. Rooms: Warm and spacious enough for two people. Lift Tickets: Offer a good deal on most of the resorts.

I would like it if the room keys could be stored in a lockbox instead of on the counter.

While Japan is great with digital check ins, it was so nice having a genuine connection with the staf, especially Anis. There is so much charm and hospitality in this place. While it may not be modern accommodation, it makes up for it in customer service and comfort. Hotel manager Anis went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed, they picked us up at the bus station, organised our Goryu ski passes, shuttled us to and from the rental place for free and genuinely wanted to make things easy for us. Accommodation was comfortable. Breakfast was amazing - you get a small set breakfast (mostly American style) as well as a buffet to top up (more Asian cuisine), more than enough to keep you fuelled for the morning. Bonus: They give you 20% off rental at Cherry rentals (literally across the road from Escal Plaza) as well as a free shuttle from the resort (it’s only a short 400m if you miss the last shuttle). Plus a small discount for ski passes. Thank you so much Anis and crew for our stay!!

Only small thing, my partner and I had separate single beds, however, probably needed after a day of skiing, better quality sleep being in a bed by yourself.

Communication was great and accurate. They have shuttle bus to and from hotel and bus station. Triangle bus stop is just in front of hotel. It has a public bath which is superb after long day of skiing. Hotel staff is like family. Food is goooood. Breakfast is fantastic. Dinner was served like it was Michelin style . Cabin-like hotel makes stay very warm and comfortable. Ski gears can be stored in a store room which has sufficient space for everyone.

Great location, close to the slopes and a couple of bars that the local lifties and ski instructors hang out at after work-was an awesome experience to get to meet people from all over the world who came here for a job!

Heater was a bit finicky, if we left the heat on all night our room was like a sauna, but without use it was rather chilly. Coming from Minnesota, we’re prepared for the cold, even enjoy it for sleeping, but some may find that a bit uncomfortablez

The owners (Sakura-san and his wife) and the amazing Front of House/Reception (Anis) made our stay a stellar one. As I did not ski this season, I had a lot of time and spent it exploring Hakuba Valley and nearby cities like Matsumoto. Kak Anis and Sakura-san had a lot of great recommendations and this really made my holiday a wonderful one. A big thank you to Yasuko as well for helping me with all our dinner reservations!

If you plan to venture out for dinner, you need to plan ahead and book the Hakuba On Demand night taxi. This can be sometimes a little unpredictable in terms of timing, so our advice is to book your taxi to arrive slightly earlier than your reservation timing. For skiers who want to venture out to other ski slopes such as Iwatake and Tsugaike, it can be a bit far.

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel! The front desk staff, Annie, was incredibly kind, attentive, and helpful throughout our visit. The owner, Sakura-san, went above and beyond by driving us to the ski resort, train station, and 7-11, making our trip so much more convenient. The location is perfect for skiing, with easy access to the slopes. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a warm and welcoming experience!

The hotel has everything you need for a snow trip. Staffs were all super friendly and welcoming, going extra miles to help you out and make you feel comfortable - special thanks to Sakura-san and Shuri! The hotel is located near Goryu ski resort, which is around 10mins by walk and you can catch the free shuttle bus right at the corner. Hotel also provides free shuttle service from and to the bus stop if you’re coming from Nagano station by bus. Discounts on passes and rental gears is a plus. Breakfast was simple but perfect to start the day, and ending the day with a dip at the public bath was great for recovery. Met lovely people at the hotel and had great night outs at nearby bars too. There’s just so much that this place offers which you cant find in other places and also great value for money. Already planning my next trip at Hakuba and will def be back!
