Everything, always planned to go torquay but didn't book until the night before. They swiftly messaged me and said the room would be ready so we could check in earlier, which was perfect, so we didn't have to carry a bag around all day. The hosts were so friendly and welcoming on arrival and throughout the stay, even leaving a birthday card for my partner in the room. There is an honesty bar with very good prices and a fridge with complimentary water, milk, and a homemade cake for your room, which was delicious, by the way. The hotel is so clean and smells beautiful throughout. The tiny touches show they go all out and love their business. Comfy beds, covers, and towels that are lovely and thick. The breakfast was honestly so good, and even if they charged extra, it would still be worth it. It's a nice easy stroll down to the sea front with beautiful scenery. I'm glad we found this hotel and will definitely stay again.

There is nothing that we disliked

The hotel itself beautiful and only a short walk to the sea. Each room is unique and designed with every little detail. There are tea & making facilities with biscuits replenished each day. Everything is spotless with luxury toiletries in the bathroom. The breakfast is outstanding everything cooked crashed to order, lots of choice including smoked salmon, pancakes & avocado with homemade fruit compote yogurts. The hosts Steve and Wendy are extremely helpful & friendly and made us feel at home. Wendy bakes every day where guests can help themselves in the dining room along with fresh milk & water for the room. They were divine including millionaires shortbread and cherry Bakewell. Thank you so much for making us feel at home & relaxed! Will definitely stay again in the future.

Nothing not to like

We stayed at The Berburry for three nights in the Junior Suite. The hotel was very clean and very welcoming. Outside was very clean, the gardens filled with flowers and areas to sit out in the day/evening. The breakfast was exceptionally good, freshly cooked and using local produce, plenty of choice so you won’t be disappointed. The rooms were clean and spacious and the bed was comfortable with clean linen and soft towels, overall for us this is definitely a place we will return to but more importantly the owners were very friendly and made you feel welcome, on hand for a chat or advice on where to visit during our stay

Beautiful Victorian property very modern fresh and bright interior, our room was lovely really clean and comfortable which was fantastic also had a door onto the garden and patio area which was beautiful and well maintained which was unexpected but appreciated, Steve welcomed us at the door and introduced himself couldn’t do enough for us, I asked if there was anywhere to store my injections and he fetched me a little fridge for our room that was very considerate,he also gave us info of what was on in the town and places to visit which we was lucky the Air show was on amazing!! Breakfast was lovely both mornings which was cooked by Wendy it was very fresh and good produce variety of food for you to choose from also the fresh yogurt and fruit was beautiful. We will definitely be staying there again and will highly recommend The Berburry to everyone thanks again Steve and Wendy for making our stay wonderful look forward to our next visit

can’t fault it

Conveniently located near the railway station, Torre Abbey, and the seafront, our stay was pleasant and comfortable. We especially loved that breakfast was included as it is difficult to find great restaurants for breakfast in Torquay. The full English breakfast, pancakes, and smashed avocado toast were all delicious. Chilled water bottles were available for us to take, and fresh baked goods were also available. The room that we stayed in was very comfortable, clean, and modern. Overall, it was a lovely stay, and we want to give a huge thank you to Wendy and Steve for making us feel like at home!

There were no major issues with our stay! The radiator did run a bit hot at night time, but we were able to turn down the temperature by adjusting the knob on the radiator to 1.

The general appearance and quality shines through, the facilities and comfort were exceptional. The hosts are everything you could desire, welcoming and warm. Breakfast is a treat and once again Wendy and Steve’s passion shines from the quality of the ingredients to the way it is cooked and served. I Have no hesitation in recommending the Berburry to anyone looking for a comfortable and welcoming home from home from which to explore the Devonshire coast and countryside. Don’t miss a trip to the fantastic Dartmoor zoo whilst you are here.

It is more a case of what is not to like. From a plentiful and free supply of chilled water, a beautiful honesty bar and very comfortable rooms I could not find a fault.

Wendy and Steve are fantastic hosts. The accommodation was beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. There was a homely feel, and nothing was too much bother for them or their staff. They have amazing breakfast choices that are cooked to perfection. The fridge with bottled water and extra milk to help yourself, too, was a great idea, and their honesty bar is well stocked, and the prices are great. The location of the hotel is great, with a ten minute walk to the harbour. We would highly recommend staying here and would book again.

Excellent location, beautiful building set in well kept gardens, good value for money with on site parking included. I made contact with the hosts prior to arrival as I was visiting a sick relative in hospital and they kindly agreed that I could park prior to check in. I had a single room, very comfortable with a small double rather than just a single bed. The room was very well equipped with everything I needed. Very clean and well maintained. The breakfast both mornings was delicious and very filling.

The Berburry Hotel Torquay September 2024 Wendy & Steve who run the hotel were exceptional hosts, they made us feel very welcome from the moment we arrived, nothing was too much trouble, breakfast was amazing, the rooms were lovely & clean & a good size, the garden with seating outside was lovely & you could tell it was well looked after. The homemade cake (made by Wendy) for guests to help themselves to was an added bonus & tasted lovely. I would certainly recommend the Berburry Hotel to anyone wishing to visit Torquay. Thank you to you both for making our first visit to Torquay a pleasurable experience, it certainly won't be our last visit.

There was nothing to dislike

What a wonderful place. Ideally located for an amble in Torquay and superbly run. Wendy and Steve really are fantastic hosts. We were made to feel completely welcome. They are a mine of local information and it's really obvious how important their guests are to them. We had the apartment which was a great size, excellently equipped and absolutely spotless. And as for the breakfast? One of the best I've ever had. Premium bacon, sausages, eggs, and the rest. Thank you for a lovely stay.
