Breakfast and room were excellent and everywhre was very clean.Bed very comfortable ad very good bedlinen.First class Bathroom Staff friendly and helpful.Was able to park outside hotel.Sofas in batmr very comfortable to relax in with z drink or a coffee.

Just one personal dislike.As we are both in our 70s and I have a back problem I found the staircase to our room to be rather steep.Hoever we appreciate that given the age of the building nothing can be done about this and presumably a lift cannot be installed as it must be a listed property.

The Breakfast was excellent, the accommodation was excellent. The Bed was very comfortable, the bathroom was spacious and of good quality fittings and the toiletries were also of a high grade. Oh and the towels were good quality too. The Pub with rooms is situated on the end of Church Walk but at the end of the cul de sac is the most magnificent Church. It is so ornate and has windows equivalent to the filigree of fine silver. The village even has its own stately home with a folly on on the public green. All in all a most delightful place to be.

As a female solo traveler I felt looked after by the staff and cannot fault their attention to detail. I was in room eight and it was a lovely room, my only complaint was that it would appear they are in the process of fixing the sash window in the bedroom area, therefore the secondary double glazed unit had been removed and the traffic noise could be heard. This said, it did not detract from my weekend away from the family!! 😆

Beautiful location a short walk from the centre of the village. Lovely far reaching views from my room Staff were friendly and considerate. Breakfast was delicious.

My room was on the top floor. No lift and no assistance to carry my suitcase was offered. I would recommend that a mirror is placed over the desk/dressing table in the main room. I was unable to prepare for the evening comfortably as there was no place to sit dry my hair and apply my make up. Pillows were a little to firm for my preference

Staff literally bent over backwards to help with our needs, (we’d booked with two dogs, first time they’d had a hotel stay with us, one dog extremely hyper and needy.. 🤣) had a table booked for a meal before realising he’d just annoy everyone and would have screamed like a child if left in the room, went downstairs to cancel the table and was told we could have the smaller closed off dining area to ourselves, we was absolutely thrilled and enjoyed a delicious 3 course meal in private with both dogs, so kind of the staff, outstanding customer service

It was a shame we didn’t check beforehand that the dog friendly rooms were on the top floor, totally our fault for not checking but our elderly rottie really struggled with the steep flights of stairs

I liked it all, except that for us, the Snug Double room was a bit too snug, as my husband is 6'2". We would simply book a larger room with a larger bed next time. So not their fault, ours for assuming we'd be fine in the snug double. It was, however, the last room left when I booked, so we took it because we wanted to stay there as it looked so lovely and the restaurant aspect promised good food, and delivered. We will simply book early next time and move to a larger double. BUT...and this is important...the entire building is pet friendly. Despite that, it was spotless and in good repair, which is often not the case with pet-friendly lodgings So either people all have very good pets or the staff is on top of muddy paw prints and so on. I'd say the latter. The staff were--every single one of them--wonderfully attentive. As we were there over Christmas, I can also comment on the decorations, which were abundant but done with taste and flair.

I loved everything about my stay at The Black Lion. In all but name this is a luxury boutique hotel. Friendly and helpful staff, super quality facilities and very dog-friendly with dogs being allowed throughout the hotel. A Santa stocking on the door of each room on Christmas morning was a thoughtful and lovely touch.

Nice location, staff were very friendly and efficient, room was large and well equipped, very good evening meal and breakfast, good bar with a couple of hand pulled beers including one from the Nethergate brewery less than a mile away.

Bed was a little on the small side, dwarfed by the size of the room. Bathroom was not set up as a wet room but only had a half screen around the otherwise excellent shower. A couple of tiny patches of mould between the tiles and some peeling paint on the ceiling.

Gorgeous location in a quiet Suffolk Village. The building was beautiful and ideally decorated. We didn't use the restaurant but the menu looked good (we were meeting friends elsewhere). Bar was well stocked and staff very helpful. We upgraded and had a beautiful and large room. Bathroom was a little less decadent than the rest of the hotel but clean enough. We used our own toiletries but good to see environmental impact was thought about. TV was odd and difficult to use - usual channels didn't seem available and if we tried Netflix or any of the other apps, none of them worked, so we turned it off and just had music playing on our phones. Comfy bed, and tea/coffee available, so all good. We loved it. *worth mentioning that had we paid full price I would have felt it a little expensive, but I had a Booking.com credit and so actually it felt like a bargain.

As mentioned the bathroom needed a little updating in décor but the shower was amazing - one of the nicest bits. TV was difficult to use.

The location overlooking the village green is idyllic. Our room was large and beautifully furnished with a comfortable bed and the bathroom was equipped with a powerful shower and free toiletries. We enjoyed dinner and breakfast during our stay, both of which were excellent.
