I don't really want to give a great review, as it will mean that I will struggle to find a booking in future..lol.. However, all I can is that, if you looking for a place, not too far from Cape Town, that is located in a quaint town, that has all the creature comforts that you would need, that has the most awesome garden, beautiful views, and wi-fi...to show your friends and family how great the places is...if you looking for such a place....The Blue Cow Barn is for you. People are friendly and helpful, and if you want self-catering( like our group) or catered meals.. you have that choice too. They even cater for functions.. Will definitely be back again.

Nothing really, all good

The location is ideal, as it's a 20-minute walk from all the main eateries along Route 62, but the property itself is peaceful and feels like it's far from the hustle and bustle of town. There are two adorable friendly doggies who will happily keep you company while hanging out on the lush lawn next to the braai area, and the wood-fired hot tub under the beautiful Karoo sky at night is an awesome experience. The chalets have everything you need and Bertus was so helpful and always available for touristy questions, and assisted when I had a bit of trouble getting my fire going. Will be back next year!

The cottage was exceptionally neat and tidy. Electric blankets and heaters are provided for your stay during winter which were most welcome. Tea, coffee, milk etc are all provided along with a little welcome drink. As the location was a little away from the centre of town, it was very peaceful and rustic. A daily 'freshen up' of your room is also offered which was a wonderful bonus. All in all, very happy with our stay. The hosts were also very warm and welcoming.

There is a shortish dust road leading up to the farm and with the heavy rains was very muddy. It was a little tricky negotiating this road on a motor bike so just check what the status of the road is prior to your arrival.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at The Blue Cow Barn, and it was an extraordinary experience that I will cherish for a long time. From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed with warmth and genuine hospitality by the owner, who made every effort to ensure my stay was perfect. My room was spacious, beautifully decorated, and offered stunning views of the surrounding countryside. The attention to detail was evident, from the comfortable bed with high-quality linens to the thoughtful amenities provided. It was the perfect blend of rustic charm and modern comfort, making it a truly unique and relaxing retreat. The farm itself is a picturesque haven, offering a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The grounds were beautifully maintained, providing ample opportunities for leisurely strolls and enjoying the natural beauty of the area.

The setting. Beautiful little property with a garden and mountain backdrop. I was warmly received and given a nice, comfortable, and quiet room. Nice local digs and cat. Generous check out time offered.

The signage not quite clear. There is signage, but I would never expect to need to travel the final stretch over a dirt and narrow road. Breakfast not provided, which I knew, but I wish a bottle of water had been there to take some meds

We absolutely loved our stay here – everything was perfect. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with such warmth and felt completely at home. The accommodation was beautiful, and the electric blankets for the chilly nights were such a thoughtful touch. The views were stunning, the energy of the place was so inviting, and we felt completely safe as three girls staying together. It truly was a wonderful experience

Location was perfect, beautiful nature surroundings and quiet. Large open plan room with very comfortable bed and beautifully decorated. Did not take breakfast but everything available to quickly whip up your own breakfast or enjoy it in the nearby restaurant. Blue Cow Barn is an absolute gem and highly recommended.

The only downside was the hot water running out after the first shower, which is a big no-no to me!

I stayed in 'Ansie' cottage over-looking the main farm house. It was very clean, spacious and well equipped for self-catering. The keys were in a lock box on arrival and entering the property was a simple procedure. The place was quiet and the perfect place to relax and kick back after a long motorcycle ride. Sitting on the stoep, nursing a glass of wine, it wasn't long before I was joined by a friendly dog and cat, who proceeded to lie at my feet. There's a hot tub at the rear of the cottage which looked very inviting but which I failed to take advantage of on this occasion...but definitely will next time! It's but a short walk into town, which offers a few shops and several good restaurants. I ate at Mez which offers an excellent and varied menu. (The Thai Fish curry was amazing!) Overall, I was very happy with my stay at Blue Cow Barn farm and will definitely book again when I'm next in the area.

No complaints.

Great location, the place was comfortable and had everything we needed. The verandah was lovely to sit and have a drink in the evening. Very quiet setting and cute dogs that lay on the patio by us at night for company.

The kitchen area had very little work surface around the sink which was a challenge and the toilet seat kept crashing down when you least expected it, very small things and certainly not a deal breaker.

We had a lovely quiet family room for 3 which was perfect for us. We had a quick dip in the heated outdoor hot tub which was fun and an exquisite dinner at Mez karoo kitchen in Barrydale. Had a good sleep and were greeted by a friendly cat and dog in the morning.

There's a big rock on the way out which was a bit difficult to navigate around considering we had a trailer attached to our vehicle. No other complaints. The place was just what we needed for a night's stopover.
