What a WONDERFUL experience from checkin to checkout, the owner Melani was incredibly welcoming & caring about her guests. Despite my last minute booking, she managed to get me a reservation at ‘KOORNLANDS” a fabulous local restaurant which I’ve no doubt, had I called them I wouldn’t have gotten in! The location is simply breathtaking surrounded by mountains & the salt water pool was most refreshing after a long drive. I couldn’t recommend “A Riverbed Guesthouse” highly enough & I totally understand & agree as to why the ratings are EXCEPTIONAL…….. Many thanks Melani………. Warm Regards Andrea

This is an excellent choice for your stay in Swellendam. It has a great location near the main street of Swellendam whilst being completely private near the river that runs through the backyard of the place. The rooms are immaculate and the attention to detail fantastic. As an ex hotelier it gives me such great pleasure to see these small scale operations doing so well. Riverside has only 4 rooms that each have a terrace with sufficient privacy. The rooms are large and the bathrooms oversized. Good amenities and Nespresso machines in each unit. Lovely pool and plenty loungers to relax after a day of sightseeing. Ample parking and a very friendly and accommodating host.

Location was simply wonderful overlooking the mountains and alongside a river with great pool (which we did not use due to an overnight stop). Secure parking and neighbourhood, close to town and walking distance from restaurants (which Melanie kindly gave directions to). Purpose built rooms with loads of space. Quiet, secure with a friendly welcome - probably the best guest house we've stayed in! Will certainly stay longer next time!!

We had a lovely overnight stay here. Highlights would be the fantastic pool in a garden setting, the very comfortable bed and the general serenity of the place. We walked 10mins to a great local restaurant for dinner and felt completely safe doing so. Would highly recommend.

Nothing, our host has put a lot of time and care into thinking about everything, to make your stay as perfect as possible.

The property is in a really nice neighborhood in the lovely town of Swellendam, with beautiful views of the mountains. The room was spacious, upscale and clean, and the pool was heated and comfortable. There’s a trail along the river behind the property that takes you up the hill for some incredible views. The host Melani was friendly and welcoming. Overall we had a wonderful stay.

Just perfect - Melanie was absolutely incredible, she really helped us out in advising us in the area and helping us with transfers. Throughout our time in Swellendam we knew that our rooms and garden had the best view out of all the accommodation in the town. The gardens are stunning, the rooms beautifully decorated, everything was stunning!

The grounds and room were beautiful. I'm sorry that it was cold when we visited as the pool looked so inviting. Melani made restaurant suggestions, brought us making for a delicious breakfast and saved the day when she secured a safe , last minute transport to our next destination that had been inadvertantly canceled at the last minute. She and her husband were very gracious and put us at ease. We highly recommend a Riverbed guesthouse.

Excellent stay in Swellendam, little bit off city center, so very calm and relaxed area. Very friendly hosts, good recommendations for restaurants and things to do around. Exceptionally well-kept property with beautiful, spacious accommodation, modern and functionally furnished.

Nothing to complain about! Only small annotation as the owners have 2 huge dogs this could be an issue if you are afraid of dogs or are allergic. ;-)

This is the most relaxing, beautiful place we have EVER stayed in. Wonderful host and hostess, beautiful Great Danes, incredible situation!! Melanie and her husband are the luckiest people in the world to be able to live there! It is, by far, the best place we have ever stayed in.

Not being able to stay much, much, much longer!

The size and cleanliness of the room, with its stunning outlook was the highlight. Although weather didn't allow us to fully appreciate it the garden and pool were beautiful.

Iy was cold and wet, so an indoor table and chairs would have been nice. Its self catering, but we didn't appreciate eating on the bed or just standing in the kitchen area.
