Denise's acommodation is really well prepared to receive any one who wants, as the title says, a cozy and warm place to be, specially if it's winter, like it was for me and my wife. The room has everything you need to not leave the room, if you wish - really really well equipped. The bath is really warm, it has a hitter at our disposal, and the bed even has it's own hitter, on both sides. The TV has netflix, the towels are good and fluffly, the sheets, the pillows, the banklets, everything of really good quality. On the outside of your room, you will find also a little table with two chairs and - for the smokers - an ashtray to call yours. As if all of this wasn't enough, you are allowed to use the kitchen and the common area (there is a fireplace in the living room) of the house, in which Denise leaves, on the top floor. Don't worry, though, you will have your privacy. To finalize, about the location: Melville is not that close to the center and Mandela Square, for example, but the house is really well located at Melville, being less than 5 minutes of walking distance from the neighbourhood's most cool restaurants and bars.

The only thing that could be better is the location, thinking of the whole city.

I stayed at Denis' BnB on 8th Avenue for two nights—the final stop on my trip to Johannesburg—and I’m so glad I chose to stay there. Her BnB is beautifully maintained and thoughtfully equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Even in winter, the space felt warm and cozy, especially with the electric blanket she provided. The garden is lovely and offers a sense of calm, even during the colder season. Denis, who is also a tour guide, is incredibly kind, knowledgeable, and a joy to talk to. When I faced some difficulties with my tour, she generously shared her insights and experiences, which helped me navigate the situation smoothly. Her breakfast is not only delicious but also a wonderful opportunity to chat with her and other guests—it really adds to the homely atmosphere. Johannesburg can be a challenging city to explore as a tourist, but Denis' BnB provided a peaceful and welcoming retreat after long days out. The neighborhood is safe and pleasant to walk around, and I especially enjoyed morning strolls after breakfast. I highly recommend staying at Denis’ BnB to anyone visiting Jo'burg—it’s a warm, restful, and truly special place.

This cozy house-turned-B&B is a great affordable option in the winter. The rooms are well-stocked with coffee, biscuits, and shampoo/soaps. When it was cold out, the owner had a fire going in the living room and the bed had an electric blanket. The breakfast was phenomenal with lots of different options. And the laundry service was impeccable and quick.

The neighborhood isn't as walkable as I'd like, and doesn't have much in the way of restaurants/cafes. I have no complaints about the B&B itself, but will mention for the sake of other Americans who might not be used to non-US sized lodging that the rooms are on the small side.

This B&B exceeded my expectations. The host, Denise, is lovely. It is located in a quiet, safe, yet central neighbourhood. There's a beautiful garden. The matrasses are amazing and the rooms very clean. This place is suitable for a short trip, but could also work very well for a longer stay (few weeks, months) as you have your own fridge and could possibly use the kitchen. As a woman travelling alone I felt at safe and welcome here.

LOVED THE ATMOSPHERE! The hostess with the mostest. Breakfast were perfect in every aspect Denise was extremely helpful and even drove us around Denise advised best places to shop for food and general items. Very peaceful and quiet.

Having to leave was very sad. It was winter and cold - not anyone’s fault but we hate cold, rooms were heated and electric blankets saved the day

I would highly recommend staying at this BnB. The host, Denise, is a very helpful and welcoming lady. The rooms are clean, quiet, in a central and safe neighbourhood of joburg. The matrasses are very nice - I had a great rest! The bnb has a wonderful garden and generally good vibes, with many returning customers. It is great value for money and next time I would definitely return.

We had an incredible stay with Denise and Phoebe the cat. Everyday began with a breakfast at Denise's breakfast table where we shared stories and sighed about poltics or learned new things about the area's archaeological digs. Denise is a lovely, well-informed, easygoing and hospitable person. She took a lot of trouble to suggest things that we'd enjoy and things we should look out for. Even her other guests were warm and gracious and friendly. The rooms are simply delightful, very comfortable and well-equipped. The area is in a high-security neighborhood. Outside the room is a couple of tables and chair as well as the patio area you see in the picture if you just want to chill and read a book. I think the best part is that Denise relies on water tanks and solar energy, so there is no fear of load shedding or water cuts to dampen your stay. I think I could happily stay a month or more at such a comfortable place. And Denise let us use her garage to park our rental car so we weren't worried about it either.

Everything was perfect.

Great B&B in Melville. The room was very nice, everyrhing was clean and well thought out. The bathroom was very small but every corner had been used. Denise is a very friendly and outgoing host. She was always there for us and we had amazing talks whole breakfast in the morning

The bathroom was very small and the sink has been a little bit tricky because if its tiny size. But this is really a "high level" complaint. We loved our stay and would recommend it to others.

The property boasts a fantastic location, making it convenient for guests to access nearby attractions and dining options. Additionally, the host is exceptionally friendly, always ready to assist with any inquiries, provide helpful recommendations, and ensure a comfortable and pleasant stay.

Friendly staff, breakfast was excellent. Bed comfortable. Room size was just right. We were lucky as we had a lovely balcony to sit on. There is a garage to park your car and a cute resident cat. The suburb is quite central and don't forget the cat charity shop close by.

The stairs was the only challenge as our one suitcase was quite heavy.
