I recently stayed at Protea by Marriott Johannesburg Wanderers with my mom, and we had a wonderful experience. The room was spacious and comfortable, and the location is absolutely superb—close to everything we needed. The staff were amazing—so kind and attentive to both me and my mom. They really went above and beyond, from helping us arrange a pick-up from the airport to providing a shower chair for my mom, which was incredibly helpful. Breakfast was a highlight—delicious, with a great variety of options. The hotel shuttle to the mall was another convenient service. Although our stay was lovely, one area for improvement would be clearer information about which rooms have disability aids like rails or shower seats. This would make it much easier for travelers with specific accessibility needs. The images on the website could also better reflect which rooms have these features. Overall, I highly recommend this property for its fantastic service, great location, and wonderful amenities. We would definitely stay here again!

The breakfast was the best. Quite a variety indeed. We checked in twice. Upon arrival in Johannesburg and again from our return from Cape Town. The process was seamless and super fast hence we returned back. The porters were very friendly especially with the kids and we enjoyed tipping them. The kids enjoyed running up and down and crying to keep the cute pink Llama by reception area, what a mission when walking in or out of the hotel before they spot it again LOL. It was still freezing winter but for some reason the entire hotel and the rooms were kept quite warm. Thank you for being considerate.

Our one week stay was very short. Would have loved to stay longer to enjoy the view and all the ambience the hotel had to offer. There is nothing we did not love about Protea Wanderers

From the moment i walked in, the staff was friendly and attentive. The hotel was a walk away to the Wanderers stadium which is awesome as we were there for a game. The room was spacious, clean and the bed was comfortable. We ordered room services which took 15 minutes to arrive, i was really impressed with that. Breakfast the following morning was also superb. Would recommend the hotel to anyone looking for a convenient stay.

Breakfast was great, staff were really friendly. Room generally comfortable and good, just the view to the street wasn't great, I would of preferred a garden view.

My luggage got lost by KLM Airlines and only arrived three dates earlier, things like toothbrushes and toothpaste in this kind of scenario should be complimentary. It's not a problem to pay 25 rands for it but it would be a nice gesture from the hotel's side saying: "We feel for you and we're here for you", instead of This is your bill. Also iron and ironing board should be kept in the closet by default without the need to ask for it.

It may sound excessive to describe this hotel as absolutely fantastic! My overall experience, from the moment I checked in, to the dining to the checking out, was simply brilliant. As for the dining, my praise was so effusive that the chef came out to greet me; my steak was done to perfection, the accompanying wine was superb. Unfortunately, I was so replete that I could not manage dessert.

I cannot think of anything negative to say. My positive review is unchanged. This is an establishment to frequent based on all the positive aspects.

I liked the shuttle opportunity, I loved the breakfast.

I didn't like that I did not have a view even though I had booked months in advanc e. I didn't like that my room was not ready, even though I checked in much later than the check-in time. I did not like that even though I had asked for the 3 rooms to be together, this only happened after I complained and then we were given rooms with no view.

I always like the Protea Wanderers, hence I always visit the establishment. I liked the dinner session. Keep the happy hour facility, it makes a person enjoy the meal more with an ice cold pint or two of cider. The meal was great. The service from the waiter great.

I was told by the Receptionist that I will be placed at the seventh floor, and that raised the expectation to being in a suite like room like some time ago; but unfortunately, it was an ordinary room, possibly smaller than the rooms in the lower floors. This was just a deflator. At least the bed was comfortable.

We wanted to extend our stay but the front desk could not do this as we had booked through booking.com . We were told that the only way to extend our stay was to rebook with booking.com. This caused myself much extra work and as the quoted price was now ridiculously inflated , we moved to a nearby 5 star hotel . Very disappointing customer service!

First of all I was pleasantly surprised by the room we were allocated - it was an upgrade in the seventh floor. I had booked for a room with the extra-large bed. But opening the door, it was just, WOW! Same effect when my partner came in. It had a lounge area, and a second toilet. The Dinner was great, and we had an attentive Waiter. Everything about the evening was just lovable. I would not like to be booked again in that room, ❤️❤️❤️❤️

There was nothing out of place this evening, everything was on point and well above our expectation. We LOVED every minute of our stay.

Overall a convenient stay-over for attanding a conference at the Wanderers club. Secure parking. Room was fine.

It took long to check in due to the number of people that had to cehck in. A bottle of water in the room would have been nice. Need to be a member of the Marrit loaylty club (or be prepared to join), to have internat access.
