Clean and well maintained. Lovely breakfast. Quiet and lovely garden. Staff very helpful and friendly. Electric blanket to help with the cold.

It was really cold (but that is the JHB winter). It is an older but charming building with glass doors, so it is tough to keep the room warm (it must be lovely in Summer). They do provide gas heaters in the rooms, but the one in my room kept switching off on it's own. They also provide enough blankets though. The hot water pressure was low and kept dropping lower while showering. They don't provide a box or pack of tissues in the rooms.

Comfortable beds, very warm welcome by the owner and always a smile and a chat. The security guards are very nice and make sure you feel safe and comfortable. The propoerty is an oase in the busy (and sometimes unsafe) Johannesburg. There is plenty of parking available behind the fence. The pool is lovely and deep, great to swim in, the pool is gated so children cannot fall in. Breakfast is avialble from ealy morning to later if you want to chill a bit longer. You can sit outside as well as inside. Ironer and ironboard was available on request.

There is nothing that I did not like. The level of quality is very good but not excellent. This does not mean you have anything to complain about! For example the leaves in the swimming pool are not removed daily (later in the week they were) and the grass had to be mowed. Do not leave you door open in the dark, due to the many trees you will have bugs in your room then. There is bug killer spray availble in the room in case you did forget :-). There is no airconditioning in the room, but a blower is available.

We had a great stay! The room was spacious and clean, with a comfortable couch, cushions, a fan, and both a shower and a bath. There’s beautiful greenery outside, which does attract a few flying bugs, but nothing major — plus, there was Doom provided in the room just in case. Breakfast was delicious, and various options were offered on the table. The pool was big and perfect for relaxing, and the location is great — not far from Melrose Arch or Rosebank, making it super convenient. Definitely a peaceful and enjoyable spot!

Great location, great price, and very nice property. The property was very quiet and within walking distance to some restaurants. The staff that we interacted with were very nice. They give you a gate remote to come and go as you please which is nice. The rooms were large and comfortable.

Only downside is I could not connect to the wifi the entire time we were there. I wanted to ask a member of staff for help, but every time we left our room there was no one to be found. I finally got it to connect the morning we left, but it booted me off 10 mins later. The lack of anyone around was also a problem when we arrived and were stuck outside the gate for 10 minutes waiting for security to open it. Not having staff around is typically nice if it were not for these two issues.

Melrose Place is a lovely guesthouse. Communication prior to arrival was prompt and helpful, we were warmly welcomed by all the staff, breakfast was plentiful and delicious, and our room was comfortable and clean. The location is great, very safe and quiet neighborhood, an easy walk to Rosebank mall, a big park nearby, plenty of restaurants within a few blocks. I wish we could have stayed longer!

I had the most delightful stay, the staff made me feel so welcome and cared for. The room was very comfortable and clean, and the location was perfect for our conference just down the road at The Wanderers Club. The gardens were stunning and felt like a total retreat from the bustle of the city. Would 100% recommend to any other travellers.

The staff were absolutely wonderful! Thank you so much to Sue, Francina, Peter, Jeanette and all the amazing staff we had the pleasure of meeting. The room we stayed in was lovely and huge. It had a balcony, which was lovely to sit outside on and watch the birds from our own private garden oasis. The area is lovely and there are great restaurants within a short walking distance. We would definitely recommend staying at Melrose Place, and if we are lucky enough to visit again, we will definitely stay here.

A lovely little oasis in the middle of the city! They really go above and beyond to make sure you have the best stay possible. The entire team is super helpful, the facilities are lovely and it really felt like home away from home, not a hotel. The owners are happy to consult on possible activities and routes and security staff will make sure that you safely get on your uber or if walking, are happy to provide tips for staying safe. Would happily stay here again if in Johannesburg!

The property is simply lovely, it's like a little piece of heaven in Johannesburg, so green and peaceful. On top of that, the people working there, from Pieter in the entrance to Sue (the owner) are simply lovely, kind and helpful people, making you feel extremely valued as guest.

Really liked everything. Maybe one small suggestion would be to add a water bottle in the fridge so that when guests arrive they can have some drinking water, especially in warm summer days ;)

This is a tranquil safe sanctuary with a perfect location. It truly feels like an oasis. It's gated yet we felt safe walking about during the day. Every staff member met us with a smile and a warmth that you could feel. I actually arrived needing to see a doctor for strep throat. The owner Sue called and set up the doctor appointment and the uber ride for me she could not have been more helpful !!! Daily breakfast is included and it's a hot delicious breakfast where you eat in the beautiful dining room with other visitors. We even met some friends we traveled with during our stay. I chose this place to stay with our friends because of all the good reviews and every one is true !!!please stay here!
