Everything is perfect

I can’t say enough about how wonderful this property was. From the second I checked-in I was greeted with smiles and a drink of choice. They were able to allow me to check-in early and even upgraded me. My room was incredible. Fully stocked with a gorgeous shower and bathtub. The bed was super comfy. Beyond that, the food was fantastic. The breakfast was absolutely delicious and the vegetarian risotto was probably the best I’ve ever had. When I had to check out, they let me hang out at the hotel and even offered to let me shower before my long flight. This hotel was the best place to end my five week trip in Africa!

I really having nothing bad to say. The only change I would make is to have some loungers by the pool for sunbathing.

The food at Breakfast was excellent Coffee was good. For a person who doesn't drink coffee, Sharon made a great Coffee. Now I have posted this the Hotel will have to live up to it? Our pick up and transfer to the Hotel took about 20 minutes and was seamless. Our driver Rodney should be congratulated. He had taken note of our luggage and during our stay we had distributed a small bag into our other suitcases but Rodney checked that we hadn't left the small bag behind. We had a safe , quiet comfortable stay in Johannesburg and we have no hesitation in recommending this Hotel. .

We were only there over night so we have no criticisms to note.

We used this splendid small hotel twice when we had to stay overnight whilst changing planes at Johannesburg International Airport. It is set in its own stylish compound in a quiet, secure residential area only some 12 minutes by taxi from the airport, has just 10 very elegant, beautifully furnished and well-equipped rooms and quite amazing, courteous, efficient and helpful staff. The small restaurant produces delicious food from an extensive menu - no need to go looking elsewhere. It is a world away from the myriad of antiseptic, soulless and indistinguishable chain hotels clustered around OR Tambo that we have previously used, and is more reasonably priced, much more comfortable and equally convenient for the airport. You get personal service, charm, five-star facilities, an outdoor pool and elegant garden and great service (albeit no gym or spa yet, although they have an extension to provide these underway) and a totally quiet, relaxing ambiance. This is a gem of a place, and this very seasoned and particular traveller unhesitatingly and strongly recommends it.

Nothing at all

We only stayed here one night as we were flying home the next day and the hotel was great for this purpose. Despite having the room we booked changed at check-in, it was still a lovely, clean and modern room with good facilities. The breakfast the following morning was included and there was a wide range; the food was good and we were able to have multiple drinks. The staff were very helpful throughout our stay and, as our flight wasn't until 10pm, we were able to leave our luggage there during the day and when we came to collect our bags at around 6pm, they allowed us to use an unoccupied hotel room to freshen up before our flight which was a very nice gesture and really appreciated!

For ease, we decided to have our evening meal at the hotel. The hotel had a function/party during the day which may have affected this but we were underwhelmed by the meal - the food was good but service was slow (we saw one disgruntled woman at another table leave and go back to her room because of the slowness) and the prices were quite high compared to other similar meals/restaurants we had elsewhere in Johannesburg, Cape Town and Franschhoek.

Everything was beyond our expectations. The staff:- From the moment we arrived all the staff, from the receptionist, to the garden and maintenance crew, servers in the intimate well appointed restaurant (with an incredible wine cellar), were incredible, knowledgeable, helpful, polite, and perfectly attired. The grounds:- Are immaculate and well manicured providing plenty of spacious parking for our large 4X4. The beautiful sparkling pool with plenty of Sun loungers. Our room:- The furnishings (curtaining, blinds, floor rug, furniture, side tables) linen, gowns, towels, lighting, climate control, sound system, TV, crockery, etc etc. The thoughtful toiletries provided. The mini bar fridge stocked with lots of wonderful offerings, Nespresso coffee machine and frother PLUS the chocolates, chips, popcorn and other tasty treats. Need I say more? Absolutely fabulous and we will definitely be staying at The Giglio again and again!! The restaurant:- Unfortunately due to other commitments we only managed breakfast, which was also outstanding! My eggs Benedict were delicious with perfectly soft poached eggs and smoked salmon, as was my husbands omelette. Beautiful tasteful crockery, cutlery and table linen. Honestly I could go on and on about the thought and fine detail that has gone into this amazing establishment - FIVE STARS + 🤩

As you can probably tell my my review above there was absolutely nothing we disliked at this beautiful boutique hotel, it is outstanding.

What a lovely hotel - our room was beautiful with a huge comfy bed and an amazing shower in the middle of the room. Nice to have a table and chairs outside too. The staff were fantastic - super helpful and really went above and beyond to help us (especially Charity). The taxi driver was brilliant that they recommended too. The food is the restaurant is great - really beautifully presented and tasty. Nice wine selection too. Breakfasts are cooked for you which is a nice change from a buffet. In a clean, safe area. Will definitely return.

Nothing - it was all good.

What a welcome! We were greeted on arrival with a drinks order and a swift check-in. The standards at this establishment are set very high and exceeded my expectations. The friendly and professional staff are second to none, and this made our stay a memorable one. We can't wait to return soon. Thank you very much!!

I'm not sure that I like the shower in the room. It reminds me of Europe, and I can't say I'm a fan. (It's no fault of theirs.)

This was the first time that I stayed at Giglio Hotel and it pleasantly surpassed all my expectations. The breakfast (and dinner) options were varied and very tasty. The service was excellent. I did not use the pool as the weather was a little too cool for swimming. That said, the pool area looked inviting. I look forward to staying again the next time I am passing through Johannesburg for a couple of nights.

We liked everything about this hotel. The staff were delightful; the accommodations were great; the food in the restaurant was excellent. Everything was top-notch. There was literally nothing that needed attention. It is away from the downtown, in a quiet area that has a number of other small hotels. There are several restaurants within walking distance, should one choose to go that route.
