Complimentary room upgrade was a great surprise for my wife's 60th birthday! The staff were friendly & efficient. Arnu, one of the barmen, was exceptional. He knew his trade well and was interesting to talk to!
A lot of gardening work was planned outside our room starting at 7am! Grass cutting & trimming was undertaken whilst we tried to sit on our verandah after lunch. A lot of nail gun noise whilst trying to enjoy the pool environment. No do-not-disturb signs in either of our two rooms which resulted in a number of staff knocking on our door for one reason or another. All the above was discussed with the acting duty manager and I was assured that changes would be made.

The hospitality and welcome was amazing. We felt thoroughly spoilt from the start. The staff were very attentive and the attention to detail made it feel more than a four star hotel. I especially enjoyed the welcome neck massage as a sample of the spa treatments available.
As it’s been newly renovated, everything is beautiful and modern. However the acoustics in the dinner restaurant sound very echoey almost hall like. Despite its very cozy and modern design, I think some attention to this is still needed to better the ambience. As the food is really good and the restaurant is well worth a visit.

Rooms were entirely comfortable (loved the bathroom floor heating) with beautiful big beds and plenty of space. the gas fire gave great ambience and pumped out the heat! The staff were definitely the highlight for us - whether at breakfast, in the bar or restaurant for dinner, they were attentive, friendly and made our experience impeccable. The property itself is stunning. Our only disappointment is that we needed more time to explore it! The picknickery is definitely worth a visit, even if its to take some goods away for the drive home.

We absolutely loved our stay at Spier Hotel. The décor and furnishings throughout the property are beautifully curated — tasteful, elegant, and with a calming atmosphere that made it easy for us to unwind from the moment we arrived. The setting is peaceful and scenic, ideal for relaxation. The food was exceptional — every meal was full of flavor and beautifully presented. A perfect escape for anyone looking to recharge in style and comfort. We’ll definitely be returning!

From the moment we were greeted with a friendly smile at the gate and offered a glass of wine at check-in we knew that we were going to have a special experience. Service at check-in was exceptional, rooms are spacious, clean with all amenities provided. The best hospitality we have ever experienced in South Africa. Beautifully decorated, amazing, friendly service and exceptional food. Would recommend 1000%
That we couldn't stay there forever.

Everything. Spier has to be one of the best Hotels we have been lucky enough to stay at. From the interior styling/ atmosphere and location to the customer service we couldn’t fault it. The food was exceptional; both breakfast and dinner. Complimentary mountain bikes to be able to truly appreciate the fantastic location, the vast array of contemporary art both in the main Manor House and dotted around the estate, wine tasting experience (all wines were exceptional) from the estate and of course the open fires in our rooms all added up to the most memorable stay. We were so lucky to stay here and so sad to say goodbye but we will definitely be back.

Great room size (Garden Terrace Room). The bed is so comfortable and good quality linen makes for a great nights sleep. Fantastic breakfast (with yummy baked goods from Vadas bakery), lovely property to explore (walking and cycling). Great security, very friendly and helpful staff throughout, every member of the Spier team goes the extra mile with a smile. Wine tasting included with booking is a nice bonus. Loadshedding did not impact our stay. Dinner menu very reasonable for a hotel and the food is wonderful. The property was fully booked during our stay but it never felt too crowded or busy. Spa treatments offered are great and well priced too.
The rooms especially the bathrooms are a bit dated and can do with a refresh. The towels are a bit tired too, fresh fluffy white towels will make all the difference. Do wear shoes / the slippers provided when in the room as the floor gets very dusty and dirty. Garden outside the room terrace requires some attention.

Spacious, comfortable rooms. Friendly staff. Lovely grounds with lots of open space. Excellent wine tasting experience, thanks to Gloria.
There’s nothing to not like! It’s just unfortunate that they have increased their rates so significantly in the last year or so it’s questionable whether it represents value for money. The dinner menu in the restaurant has become very limited. Perhaps there is a bit too much focus on the big push for 5 star status. Doubt we’ll manage a 7th visit if the rates reflect 5 star status!

This was my second time staying at Spier and I loved it just as much. The whole estate is beautiful and you should definitely book a wine tasting and try their food/restaurants, too. The "hotel" consists of charming little houses with spacious and cozy rooms with large, bright bathrooms. One of our highlights was the huge breakfast buffet!
Calling for a car/golf cart to take you from the room to the lobby (especially with luggage) is super handy, but only seems to work half the time. I don't know if it was an especially busy day, but we waited for a good 20 minutes when we wanted to check out.
