We had a wonderful stay at this charming guest house located in a beautifully restored old mansion. The interior is stunning, with every detail carefully thought out, and the garden is simply gorgeous. We were pleasantly surprised with a complimentary room upgrade and enjoyed a room with an incredible view of the mountains. The guest house is situated in a quiet and safe neighborhood, and we felt very secure leaving our car in the private parking area inside the property. Breakfasts were delicious, and the staff were incredibly friendly, attentive, and always ready to help. Our overall impression of the city was definitely enhanced thanks to this lovely place. Highly recommended!

Everything was literally perfect!

Fiona & Paulet were very accommodating with the little things I needed to make my stay easier. Also, their extra touches for example tea snacks in the lounge in the afternoons/evenings made me feel most welcome. I had guests over to spend the afternoon by the pool & they were also made to feel welcome. We were even offered an ice-cream treat on a warm summer afternoon - that really made us feel like we were at home. All the practical things were great: room, bed, facilities in the house & breakfasts. The location was excellent with close access to everything I needed in Stellenbosch & I could park my car at the guesthouse. Definitely a recommendation from me.

Summerwood is a wonderful heritage home in an amazing location (close to central Stellenbosch and the University campus) and set in a beautiful garden. The staff are friendly and very helpful.

The wooden flooring of this beautiful old home means that if you are on the ground floor (as we were) you may hear the guests upstairs quite easily! Unfortunately for us, the upstairs guests were up really early! Then, being in Room1 facing onto the driveway and garden meant we also had evening and early morning noise from guests arriving back from dinner and the gardner/security guard (?) playing music loudly from his cellphone when he came on duty early on Saturday.

We really enjoyed our time at the Summerwood Guest House. We have been at many Guest Houses and AirBnB at our time in SA, but this was definately the best. It felt like coming home with modern, comfortable and super clean rooms, cosy lobby, great breakfast and a relaxing garden and pool area. Fiona is an absolute Angel, making us feel so welcomed as friends and took great care of all questions and requests. Can definately recommend as 10/10 stay!

The location was perfect- you could walk into town or cycle as bikes were available to use Our room (4) was spacious, really comfy bead, phone charging points, nice bathroom with separate shower and bath and views over the garden and pool. The garden and pool area was beautiful with sunbeds and towels provided. The breakfasts each morning were delicious. The whole guesthouse was delightful and Fiona was so good at providing a friendly atmosphere and any information we wanted. Nothing was too much trouble.We didn’t want to leave.

Lovely setting and location. Fiona was a brilliant host , friendly and informative about the area. Delicious breakfasts overlooking the beautiful garden and pool. Lots of shade from the trees which was welcome. Easy to walk into Stellenbosch . Spacious room and very comfortable. Loved the friendly bunny.

Small grouse but thought it petty to charge for water in bedroom given the overall price!!

Excellent service, wonderful safe and warm atmosphere. Great Nespresso machine in the room and in the main reception area. Delicious carrot cake was always available with your Nespresso in the lounge. Loved the small touches like the treats in the glass jar. Everything was pristine and the garden is beautiful. Loved the bunnies in the garden. The safe parking was an absolute pleasure. Look forward to the next stay here! ❤️

Fiona, the host, was extremely welcoming, helpful and available. Breakfasts were vendors and delicious. Staff in breakfast room and on the ground were attentive and responsive. Free bikes with locks were available and tuteli the best way to go to town for visits or dinners. Rooms were perfectly appointed and bed very comfortable

Pool was frigid! A pool cover might help to use sun to warm water and keep heat in! But it is beginning of autumn here.

The perfect place to stay with an easy walk to the centre of Stellenbosch and its great restaurants. The guest house is beautiful, breakfast was delicious, staff are lovely and Fiona is a fabulous host. The free bikes were an added bonus and we enjoyed cycling to a couple of local wineries. We could not have wished for more and we are already planning a return visit.

We felt right at home from the moment we arrived. Fiona is such a lovely person and we loved hearing stories and sharing many laughs. The room was very spacious and well appointed. Everything is well thought out and there was nothing needed. Comfortable beds, beautiful gardens and amazing breakfast.
