The Rivertain Hotel was well located for our staty, a 10-15 min taxi ride away from the KTX station, the Intercity bus station was a very short walk away, handy to a large supermarket, local restaurants and attractions on foot. We had minimal interaction with any staff, reception spoke no English at check-in but no difficulties. Our room was well appointed, large enough for our luggage, comfortable mattress with 4 pillows, bottom sheet with thick quilt, small table and 2 chairs, facing a local street but double glazed windows provided us with a quiet night's sleep with air-conditioning. We enjoyed the large Smart TV with access to our Netflix account. There was a LG Steam cupboard in the room. The bathroom was a separate toilet and shower configuration with plenty of nice smelling toiletries. The included breakfast buffet was a real hit with the two of us, a good selection of Korean and Western dishes, no yoghurt though. The tariff was very reasonable, I highly recommend the Rivertain Hotel.

Daily housekeeping does not make the bed, it is left as you leave it.

The location is excellent. You can rent bikes and ride or walk to the main tourists sites, shopping streets, and restaurants. The hotel was quiet and comfortable. Breakfast had a nice choice of Korean and Western food choices. A few people in our group enjoyed the lobby each evening, playing cards, and walking a few meters down the street to grab coffee and/or beers and snacks at local convenience stores.

Three things. Our room was hot. We did not understand the a/c was operated from the tv remote. When we called the front desk they said to open a window. We didn't have a window so we had to leave the balcony door open to get the room below 27 degrees C, 81 degrees F. One of the receptionists had a very cold personality, probably the one who didn't tell us about the a/c. The other staff were awesome. And finally, the door to our room did not close properly unless you firmly shut it. We left it open a couple of times all day on accident :( However, Korea is safe and there was not a problem.

hotel was in a older area, but right nesr the intercity bus terminal, making a transfer to Busan very easy (recommended). Also close to river and main attractions (tombs and palace) as well as local bus to out of town attractions. Heaps of local restaurants but not a great deal of English. Highly recommend little bossam diner 80m up the road. superb (see pic) not a lot of English at reception but all good. breaky included.... simple and interesting, making it all very good value. smallish room bit clean and simple

Excellent hotel in a great spot. A quiet, very comfortable room serving an excellent breakfast. Walkable to the bus stop for arrival and onward travel. We managed to also walk to nearly all the tourist spots or catch a local bus. Gyeongju is an amazing place and we’re so glad we allocated 3 nights here. Thank you

Rivertain is a great hotel. The room was nice, spacious. Bed was comfortable. A/C worked well to cool down the room. Bathroom was nice and spacious too. Full tub/shower, and toilet was in a little private area within the bathroom. Plenty of counter space to put all your stuff. Near bus stops so getting around the city was easy (best to take a taxi from/to the train station though). Breakfast was pretty basic, nothing exceptional there.

Great location. You can rent bikes down the street for $6 USD/day and return them at 9 pm. Bicycles can get you to all the main sites without advanced skill, though 15 minute ride-segments to reach it all. We didn't use taxis except to the Bulguksa Buddhist temple about 20 minutes outside of town, definitely worth the trip. Room is clean, breakfast gives a variety of Korean & western options, coffee machine available 24 hours/day. Don't miss the local market (Jungang), with night food stalls from 6-11 pm. $9 buys you a plastic tray with 4 options from different stalls, amazing variety of Korean delicacies. Small rooms, no facilities, doesn't matter because it's a comfortable room to sleep and you'll be out on this UNESCO museum of a city all day anyway. We've been twice and checked out other comparable hotels, nothing came close. For the average tourist, two nights covers this city well, one night is not enough.

Expect confusion in the room on light switches, lighting options, remote controls, a/c and heating settings. All the hotels near the top tourist sites are crammed into a run-down local neighborhood (added to our ambience) but the area, like all of Korea, is extremely safe night and day.

Great hotel, only 5mins walking to the bus station which was very convenient to arrive/leave the city (note that the train station is a bit further away) but at the same time very quiet street where you can hear anything from the road There are several places to eat around the hotel. Main tourist attractions were 15mins walking from the hotel but it's a nice walk through the main street. As a plus, the room had a LG Styler to refresh/clean your clothes which is a nice touch! Bathroom very nice as well, we had a bath instead of shower but it was still nice

Super nice breakfast, tons of options (not only local but western as well). Staff in the kitchen was helpful and available to bring up missing items. The room was very new and clean. Super comfy beds and pillows. Location is ok, right where the other big hotels are located. About 20 min walking from historical center

Staff at the reception offer CERO advice on what to do, where to go or any other interesting information for us to visit. I guess it was also a barrier of language but still, they should be train to at least try to communicate with guest.

Breakfast was very basic but nice. The cooks were accommodating and made fried eggs for us when required. The room was small and very congested. Inspite of booking a room for 3 adults, they still gave us a small room but that didn't impact our experience at the hotel. The hotel is conveniently situated at the bus station which makes traveling very easy. Staff were nice

The size of the rooms. For the price paid I would have expected a slightly bigger room.

The hotel was amazing clean, staff was very polite and spoke good english. The room was very big and the breakfast was good too - a mixture of eastern and western cuisine. Not sure why it was only a 2 star hotel, maybe because of no gym or restaurant but everything else was at minimum 3 star standard - it was more expensive than the other hotels nearby but I think it was definitely worth it. It was 5 mins walk from the express bus terminal. Unusual large amounts of hotels/motels around the streets nearby although I felt safe walking alone at weekend nights when I was there.
