This was a group of rooms behind a door on the 5th floor of a building on the Gran Via. I was a bit worried when I walked into the Hostal, because it looked quite modest, but our room was a pleasant surprise. The deluxe double was a good size, very clean and nicely maintained. It had a king size bed with fresh soft linens and a very comfortable mattress and pillows. The sparkling clean window looked out on to the Gran Via and had black out coverings for a peaceful night’s sleep. There was a mini fridge, a coffee maker and adequate storage in the room. The floor tiles and furnishings were nothing fancy, but fine. We were only there for our final night in Madrid, but it seemed like a good choice for a longer stay for someone looking to be in an excellent location while staying in a modest accommodation.

The shower glass covers half the opening and isn’t long enough to prevent water going on to the floor. The entrance area to this historic building looks a bit shabby because it’s being prepared for painting. It will look great though once it’s completed.

Though hostals offer fewer services than a hotel, here it hardly feels like it. My room was spacious, beautifully updated (including the bathroom), spotlessly clean, with good storage and a fridge, plus a view of the Gran Via but with a window that offered good soundproofing. A tremendous value compared to other hostals I've tried in Madrid as well as hotels.

There's no breakfast, but that's understood at a hostal. My bed was comfortable but had large, fairly hard, bolster-like pillows that weren't ideal for sleeping, at least for me.

The location was great, on Gran Via, next to the metro, very close to all the touristic location and major objectives to visit, the room was small but very cozy and with all appliance necessary, very modern decorated and easy to access. To/from the airport you can take the metro but you need to change it twice or better we took bus 203 until Plaza Cibeles and than 10 min walking. both options takes the same time and is the same price, around 5 euro. safe area and very animated. no noises can be heard the room, and also you have a coffee maker in the room.

Hostal Galaico is an excellent option for staying in Madrid. It’s located right on Gran Vía, in a very central and convenient area. The room is perfect: very comfortable, with a fridge, air conditioning, and a spacious bathroom, all very clean and newly renovated. The service from the staff is great, always attentive and friendly, and they also offer luggage storage. Definitely a great choice for those looking for comfort and a good location in Madrid.

Great location, super price for the center of Madrid.

I was not expecting the bed to be very comfortable but it was! The staff was super nice and the room was very clean and well put together.

The price was a little high for a hostal, but the demand for rooms at the time of my booking was very high. The only thing that needs attention was some molding coming off the door frame from the bathroom due to water damage. It definitely needs attention (room 4)

Comfortable bed and amazing pillows. Wish I could find out the type as need one for home. The best shower at a hotel I’ve had - super strong power and great heat… although it did leak out the shower basin if in there for long time. Super central location, walk right out and on Grand Via with plenty shops and food places. Lots of things within walking distance but also super close to metro if needed. Also hop on hop off bus stops right outside.

Our balcony only had one chair… although was too cold during our stay to sit outside, I can imagine in summer this would be disappointing.

Cute little hostel located right in the heart of Madrid. Tons of things to do nearby. The room was clean and the receptionist was nice. Very easy to find. Close to metro & bus stations for airport or train station transfers.

The room is very small and the window oversees the walls of the next buidling in an enclosed space. Hard to get any kind of ventilation in the room because of that. Not a problem for short stays though.

I had the deluxe double room and thew view on Gran Via is really nice. The room was pretty big and really clean. You can walk to all the major tourist attractions or the subway is 1 minute away.

The pillows not my favorite, the kind with memory foam. But it is just my preference. There is some noise of course during night, since it is on Gran Via, but for me not an issue.

I liked the location, very central and most places I wanted to see are walking distance from the hotel. The balcony in the deluxe double was good to have, and I enjoyed the view and watching Madrid life. The pictures on booking.com are actually very accurate and it’s a good size room

The windows could be more sound proof so that there is less noise from the street
