Our stay at Catalonia Gran Vía Madrid was delightful. The staff was friendly and welcoming, always ready to assist with any needs or questions, making us feel right at home. The rooms and public areas were kept clean, which we greatly appreciated. The hotel offers a comfortable bar – a nice spot to relax and drink before heading out. The location is ideal: right on Gran Vía, close to all main attractions, and just a 20-minute walk to many of Madrid’s highlights. Overall, this hotel was an excellent choice for us, offering a good balance of comfort, convenience, and friendly service. We’d recommend it to others looking for a solid, well-located option in Madrid.

Wonderful service and kind staff. Adrián was particularly helpful, attentive and always upbeat! As a single dad travelling with my two boys the accommodation was a perfect mix for culture and kid activities close by and the atmosphere of the hotel is very family-friendly. The location of the hotel is absolutely wonderful. Near various attractions and great sightseeing and eating options.

Nothing to complain about really, the pool is small but I assume people don’t come here to stay in the hotel, although there are many other things to do. My boys didn’t mind, so it’s not a problem.

The hotel is in a great location on the Main Street Gran Via in Madrid. We only stayed for one night so didn’t use all the facilities. The bar and reception area is very clean, and modern - with an elegant twist. Rooms are big and beds are comfy.

We booked a standard room - which was allocated on the day of arrival. We were given room 127 which overlooked a car park and building works. Very annoying at 6:30am when you’re still in bed. The double doors do not block out the sound, it was very noisy and unpleasant to look at. The room was very hot, but we did call reception who sent a member of staff up to sort it out for us. So that was a bonus! Our friends were staying in room 425 and it was their anniversary. We messaged the hotel to see if there was anything nice they could do for them. They didn’t respond until we were leaving and with a price list of all of the things they could do for them. They do not give anything for free like other hotels would. For me that’s not going above and beyond.

The central location is fantastic, within walking distance of the major museums and attractions. The staff was attentive and helpful.

During our entire 4-night stay, one lift was out of order all the time. That left one very small lift to serve 7 floors, resulting in unnecessary waiting times. There is are economic breakfast options available in the lounge. However, when arriving at the dining room for breakfast and indicating that only a continental breakfast was required, the staff only mentioned the full buffet @ EUR 20 per person as the only option.

Catalonia generally offers cheap-chic lodging in old, beautiful buildings. Whilst you won't find luxury at this hotel, one will be pleased by the modest price tag. Great for young couples, new(er) travels on a budget, and those who don't obssess over details. (Expect dusty corners, some un attaractive grout and tile work in the bathroom, ...) The Gran Via boasts an outstanding location with easy access to metro, Uber, taxis, museums, restaurants, bars, and clubs. The suite with terrace and jacuzzi was excellent. The view is lovely and the jacuzzi was clean. The staff was kind and attentive. Thank you, All.

While we appreciated the overall experience, there are some items we believe might be helpful to fellow travelers to be aware of when making their lodging choice. The elevators to the 7th floor were very slow for us even when not at all busy. They were also old, and cramped. The bedding, toiletries (incl. slippers) are of low, minimum quality, which parallels the price point.

The food is nice and staff are nice and cheerful. When we asked for services in our room like fixing the TV, the drainage of the sink etc., staff came soon and things got sorted. Very nice and the janitors were nice too. I’ll recommend the hotel to my friend as very good location too. Across the street is the big red city bus stop, we bought the bus pass for two days and we travelled around conveniently to different senic spots.

I booked the hotel mainly because there was a pool. However, during my stay it was under construction. The lighting in the room is a bit dim. The windows with bars and can’t really open to see the view. Even so I like my stay.

I liked that the room was spacious and cozy. The bathroom was clean with all the extras that I needed for my stay. The shower was a dual one with a rain sensation top down shower head and a variable body sprayer. The complimentary soaps and hair supplies smelled AMAZING too. I also like the salt water pool even thought it was way too cold for my liking since it's on the back side of the building. It's also REALLY SMALL, more for taking a dip and cooling off than swimming. I didn't go if there were children as there was no way to escape the splashing they produced as they had fun.

The sheets were a little dirty. I was hoping that it was from the washing and not from the previous guest but that really put me off. The minibar was too small. It's loaded with items for sale which made it hard for me to store the few foods we had. The hotel is a labyrinth! The elevator only goes up to the 6th floor and we were on the 7th. If you have mobility issues, please contact the hotel before your stay to avoid any issues.

We were warmly received by the staff on the counter in the reception and they made it possible for us to receive our room much earlier than expected. We had a triple bedroom with a very cute view of the street/city. Very comfortable beds, amazing bathroom/shower and modern furniture. The breakfast buffet which costs 21Euros p/person is amazing and has a very wide variety. And the restaurant for dinner time is also amazingly tasty and selective with its dishes. The location is absolutely incredible on the Gran Vía Madrid. Which allows you to be everywhere within walking distance. Would definitely recommend the hotel.

The only inconvenience was that the pool was closed for 2 days

Super location - most main sights were within an easy 20 min walk if not less. Easy to communicate to taxi drivers as well. Very close to the metro/subway stop.

Some rooms at the property are undergoing renovation so there is construction noise depending on where your room is. I didn't have any issue but my sister's room definitely was affected. There are different elevator banks for different room numbers (think it's two hotels mushed together) so check with reception as to which one to use. We discovered the hard way and had to lug suitcases through long corridors/stairs.

Her professionalism and dedication truly made a difference in my experience. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Madrid. It’s a gem in the city, offering both luxury and outstanding service. I’ll definitely be returning on my next visit!
