Iconic property in Colombo. Really feels like you're visiting a part of history. The suite (and bathroom) was beautiful. The staff are very attentive. The Sri Lankan breakfast was surprisingly outstanding. The pool was great and they have a gym (and steam) that's just about passable for a short trip.

Just tips for the staff: - The check in process was a little slow - Need to have basic toiletries like a sanitary napkin on site and available for your guests - If you're going to ask guests for a precise time for breakfast, you need to make sure the breakfast is ready at that time - We had a creepy crawly in the bathroom (that unfortunately surprised my wife at night)

The hotel is situated in a lovely quiet neighborhood. The room was spacious and very comfortable; the pool was lovely and refreshing; and breakfast was tasty. The staff are very attentive and helpful. And the library is lovely too!

The room we were allocated had a very noisy aircon, but we were moved to a different room immediately. It would have been nice to have a few free items in the mini-bar, but everything had to be paid for - even the milk! There were power issues on our 2nd night and the lights in the bathroom kept switching on and off. There were a number of cracks in the walls of the room and the bathroom and some other signs of age.

Loved how beautiful the place is. Staff is friendly and understanding. We asked for a different room and they had one ready for us. It took a while for them to get it ready as the previous customers were still occupying the room. Loved that we were handed over a 10% discount card to shop at their Paradise road stores.

The room needs better plug points. They definitely need to upgrade their plug points. I am a photographer and need multiple plugs to connect my devices.

A beautiful property, with the most helpful and discreet staff I have ever had the pleasure to meet. Nothing was too much trouble. They made suggestions for what to eat (and where if we didn’t wish to eat at the hotel) but the food and drink we had at the hotel was exceptional. Wonderful leisure facilities - my fitness made use of the gym while I had a much needed massage. Situated in a lovely area, just a short tuk tuk ride or slightly longer walk into the city centre.

No gardens as such, but there is a large park nearby and it’s not that far to the sea front if you prefer to relax on a beach.

Design and the feeling of staying at an exquisite property is superb. It’s a place with history and it’s been maintained well. The food at the restaurant was great.

The rooms felt a bit dingy probably because we had cloudy rainy days outside but otherwise it was great . I wish someone would talk to us about the property. The staff need some training to give the guests a little story about where they’ve come.

We got upgrading of the room to Royal suite when we checked in, the room is absolutely fabulous and well decorated. The hotel was the residence of former PM and president, and it’s elegant and comfortable, really good location.

We found the bed mattress and linens weren’t be made well at the first night, but housekeeping came to remake it and got it done well, just a little mistake.

The building has been renovated very well, in keeping with the hotel's grand appearance. The décor is tasteful and attractive. The appearance of the hotel is impressive. The staff are lovely.

The aircon needs adjusting, it is too cold. The breakfast is a la carte and quite expensive but a bit limited.

The property is beautifully decorated with fabulous interiors. The rooms were spacious and comfortable and the food was fantastic. The only thing was that the air conditioner didn’t cool the room adequately considering the high ceilings and size of the room

So elegant!! Amazing art and ambiance. Great pool and decent exercise room. History in the walls. Good food and great service.

The rooms are black and dark. Very hard to see where things are with black floors, countertops, furniture. Elegant but at a cost!

Beautiful colonial hotel tastefully decorated and lit. We arrived early and the staff were super accommodating to help us to our Royal Suite early. The room had a super comfy bed and pillows, bathroom with plunge bath and separate shower. Also a lounge area and balcony/patio. Pool is a quiet, calm place. Excellent breakfast
